My courage it telling me to hold for the 8. Courage may give us back the jack.
Good luck with that. I remember lots of people griping about Lightning when it first came out and it doesn't look like we ever went back to 30-pin.

I honestly believe Apple is making this move for the right reasons and I think phone technology will be better off for it. I say that as an owner of wired headphones.

Cant wait! 128GB iPhone 7 here I come.

Deciding between Black and Jet Black will be a hard decision however...

Ya. The Jet black will probably be a fingerprint magnet and if it's glass I'm afraid of it cracking even with AppleCare.

It wasn't subsidised. That same plan suddenly became $25/month cheaper when they split out the phone. You could upgrade after 18 months because 18 x $25 + $299 = $749, oh look the cost of the phone!

I think you are thinking of another plan. My plan will not be decreasing after the contract ends....this is the same with all of the older subsidized rates.

What is the problem?

They are providing you an adapter free of charge. And they're moving into the fully digital world.

To me it sounds like a win-win.

Explain to me how this idiotic adapter will let me listen and charge at the same time?

And when the adapter inevitably gets lost, or like all Apple cables falls apart after 12 months, how much do you think Apple will want for a new one?

This is bone headed design and positively hostile to customers. It will cost Apple dearly.

A bit is an understatement. Again, the value of the earbuds increased by five times because they got rid of some cable, which reduces the audio quality and makes you lose them.

But good on Apple. Now they can continue spout that they want a wireless future when wireless charging has been a technology used in multitude of devices for years.

Lol, the new Bragi's list at $150..... the AirPods at $159.
How is the phrase "the Bragi's are a bit cheaper" an understatement to you????

Haha, of the 40-or-so photos of iPhone 7 on Apple's website not one shows <the place where the headphone connector used to be>. The photos have either been cropped at exactly that point, of there's a convenient piece of advertisement text placed over it. Poor Apple Marketing, they must have been really nervous on how to sell this "feature".

I don't understand the upgrade program. It costs £33.45/m here in the UK and it says that's based on £718 over 20 months 0% p.a. But the iPhone 7 costs £599. Where are they getting £718 from? It says 0% p.a so is it possible the punishment for paying in instalments is an inflated price?

If I read it correctly, the upgrade program comes with the Apple Care (therefore higher cost).

Really cool how Apple made the AirPods experience so seamless. Anyone can make a quality pair of bluetooth EarPods, but leave it to Apple to overhaul how they connect and sync across all your devices and greatly increase the user experience with a simple idea.

That is Apple.

Proprietary apple airpods connecting seamlessly to proprietary apple iphone or proprietary apple watch...you don't say?

No more $199, $299, $399 thanks to the extinction of subsidized contract prices. The day finally came.
I have to ask...

Who here thinks carriers are just getting greedy and screwing everyone by making us pay full price?

Or is there finally a collective understanding that full price for cell phones was always being paid and the "subsidy" was instead a loan. A magic trick that looked *very real* -- $350-$450 off for a 2-year service commitment. But just an illusion and nothing more.

I don't have problem with anyone preferring subsidy, to EIP, to full price as a method of payment. As long as there is an understanding subsidies aren't "free money" or gifts or a signing bonus, or whatever.

And they had the cheek to go on about the design, when it's plan for everyone with eyes to see that it looks identical to the iPhone 6, just with an even larger camera bulge.

That's why they showed ONLY the Jet Black with all that fancy lighting - sure looked like a whole new design to me /s

BUT they changed it just enough to cause you to purchase new cases

There have never been subsidised phones, the cost was built into your monthly plan charge!

There used to be, back during the 3G era. You used to pay a minutes package + $30 for unlimited data. Typically that would run you $70. It doesn't matter if you got the phone for 0 or $200, the price was the same.

Apple knows it and they know people who need 2 SIMs will buy 2 iPhones.

Again, no Dual SIM option....I will maybe check out iPhone 7s/8 next year.
There is huge market for Dual SIM phones which Apple just ignores.

Why are so many people willing to rob their mom's purse and burglarize their neighbor's house to get $800 to purchase hardware that is beneath a pentium processor? The USB-C ports and Apple's ports transmit in USB 2.0 speeds. The Bluetooth can't transmit high grade audio codecs. Paying $800 for an iPhone is like dropping six thousand for an entry level 15" Retina Macbook Pro.

These phones are all grossly overpriced crap. Flagship on down.

I'm sorry, but why are you here? You do realize this is an Apple-centric site, correct?

Yeah. Especially us on grandfathered unlimited plans as we won't get a discount for buying outright... so it's just more expensive.

I'm pretty let down at the lack of Apple Pencil support, so I'll probably be skipping this year's model.
Can always switch to next. Its what i plan on doing now that the subsidies are gone. Still on grandfathered plan since 08.

So that next year, they become courageous enough to be audacious enough to say that we did it again, now the base storage is 64GB, and we keep 128GB and 256GB, or maybe add 512GB at the top. Who knows. But stuntmen they are, of the highest quality. :p

For the same price you now get 128gb. Why would you want 64?
