Complete mess, what were they thinking...
And you cant just ignore the message. Its the sender controlling the content, so if they send you a msg with all that crap in, you have no choice.

I'm pretty sure I get to control the people sending me messages regularly. Luckily, as a personal choice, I don't generally deal with people who would abuse such things.

Really the same people who annoy you now will merely be annoying you in new and exciting ways.

I guess the updates today will be responsible for an increase in accidents related to distraction caused by texting.
Oh Apple, you sure learned how to let the pros down...

I’m really not sure whether it is the product or the presentation that put me off. I can’t remember keynotes being so confusing and overwhelming. Some presenters should not have been on stage.

Eesh.

It was a lot, but for one, iOS 10 is a milestone. I expected Apple to bring more features to the platform. Haven't been this excited over an iOS update since 7.

Past presentations sometimes felt dull, at least this one was more lively if you're speaking of the presenters.

If Apple is going to release a Messages for Android, wouldn't they do it the same time the as the new Messages ships with iOS 10 in the fall?
I agree, if they are releasing iMessage for Android (and I'm on the fence as to whether this will happen since how will Apple make $ on it), it will be this new version with the added rich texting features and it won't be announced and released until iOS 10 is available to the general population. One thought I had is that it could be made available as a free bonus to Android Apple Music subscribers.

What a mess.
In the interest of diversity they brought too many folks and it felt disorganized which it wasn't since they finished in two hours on the dot - so they definitely rehearsed many times.

These platforms are beginning too mature at this point to impress anyone.

WWDC has historically been for developers and OS and service update announcements. Most of the time hardware has its own events.

I'm not currently able to watch the stream so I won't comment on what it looks like.

Yeah but developers are also tech heads for the most part. Perhaps even more so than the average Apple user, enthusiast, follower, basher or whatever you want to call most of the commentators here! They need to be enticed and excited by new Apple hardware offerings as much as anyone, and probably even more so.

I lament Apple's move away from hardware announcements at this keynote. It probably comes down to a simple case of lack of time with four operating systems now to cover. But I doubt there'd be too many complaining if they extended it or added a seperate hardware announcements keynote. Many of the announcements today weren't interesting enough for a keynote event. I'll put it out there and say most boring keynote ever!

As it stands Apple's lineup is looking weaker than it's been for a while with many ageing or flat out obsolete designs. Apple is pushing its luck in many areas. Its long-running strategy of slow roll-out of features across product lines and offering weak and overpriced first generations of products is allowing the competition to catch up.

Really, just Eddy Cue. Why he is still allowed on stage at Apple events is beyond me, he is an actively terrible presenter. Especially when contrasted with Craig's affable and charismatic style.

Craig is good isn't he? I'd like it if he were CEO for the simple fact of him being on the Mac side and being a developer, not some marketer or generic exec type.

It's called "block caller." I promise, it works wonders

Yeah, but i don't get msgs from people i generally dont know.
The plug in for spam would be good if it included all the geo local cold callers.. I'm in for that.

However it wouldn't be needed if the mobile carriers were bound by the same rules as the land lines in the UK.

Getting excited about new features for text messaging? Put the phone down, go outside, talk to somebody and get a life.

I don't know if Craig is a great decision maker, but otherwise I wish he ran Apple.

I thought it was pretty good, and makes sense for Apple to do this. Whatsapp, viber, Facebook messenger etc are doing so well partly due to these sorts of frivolous extras. A lot of (mostly young) people will switch back to messages as their primary IM platform based on these new features.

What a bloated mess. Forgive me, but if I want things to be more personable, wouldn't I just call them?

No reason he'd be any worse. I think he'd be good. He's clearly intelligent, personable and charismatic, the latter two of which Tim Cook completely lacks, at least as far as his public persona is concerned.

The worst thing about the current Apple is that Steve Jobs had a reputation for not liking or caring about "Wall Street" but today's Apple seems very driven by it.

Tim Cook cannot even present his product. He probably don't even know how his product works anyway. Somebody tells him this is going to be cool and he agress on it as long he gets his pink phone.

I think I have to agree with many commenters on here. I too, felt that it was haphazard and messy. Still can't change the color of text, bubble, or font. Am I missing something here? Can't use that "powerful silicon" in our phones for that?

I agree. Eddy almost single-handedly derailed any momentum the keynote might have had. He might be intelligent, but he has zero charisma and elicits more "I guess we'll clap for him" applause than anyone else on that stage. From now on, Tim needs to give Craig the keys to the entire presentation and say, "Just do your thing."

why do people act like apple hasn't thought this through

Because Apple quite often releases things without thinking it through.

Sometimes, it's corrected quickly.. Other times, it can take a while for them to get around to it. And occasionally, they can't be bothered at all.

Teenage Girls are going to love this. I suspect apple is targeting the teenage female Chinese user as its demographic going forward.

What a sell out . Apple used to make products for adults . Now it's gimmicky crap for teenagers
