People who aren't sticks in the mud will love this. Why do some people think communicating with your friends and family should be lame and boring. If it's too gimmicky for you, I'm sure the USPS will deliver your message in a thoroughly boring manner.

your 90s "sick" goes hand in hand w the type of product being shown today as the message app. Reminds me of the art button of MS word when it came out. Tacky as hell.

There's a reason why I don't use third party IM apps. I really hope there's an option for you to turn off these new features so you're unable to receive them or at least prompt you if you want to receive it or not.
Lol, with all the comments that this is "too much" & skews too far from the "simple" Apple of days past... there had to be ONE person I guess to whom this wasn't nearly enough... and needs more non-functional bells & whistles in the ability to build your own garrish color palettes, paired with unreadable fonts.
For serious, have you not even heard of Android?? It's on like 70% of all smartphones. You should check it out! It has ALL the garbage you're looking for.
Yes, that's exactly what Apple is all about. The most valuable company in the world is all about removing skeumorphism, nothing else matters to them. They don't build products, because they're too close to reality.
"powerful silicon" needs to be throttled so the user retains more battery life. However, it's is unleashed to maximum potential when looking at colorful Apple website.

your rant is meh, apple has been moving away from it to show how advanced heir software is design wise and now we are going back. boom shake the message app baby, put background celebratory fireworks and my pulse racing behind it and put some hidden text and make it bigger and smaller woa! amazing look at all that wasted data and tackiness...
So awesome. I really think this was the star of the show, and there was a TON to like. This is arguably my favorite keynote of the last several years. So many innovations and genuine improvements.
Love the animations, stickers, sentiment, emoji, etc. All nicely tucked away as to not clutter the interface unless you want them (I'd be ageist and say this is not for grandma but I know plenty of grandma's that would use at least some of this!)

I thought iMessages was the biggest and neatest announcement from today. I think the stickers is tacky but I guess it was only a matter of time until they copied Facebook.

Sadly, not Canada....
Some very welcome features, but UI in few places is so ****ed up i haven't seen **** like that when i was on crack.
I was not implying this wasn't enough. It's actually overboard.... My point is, after how many years that some of the simplest things are still not on iphone but every other phone. I'm not saying this wasn't nearly enough by any means. I actually think what they did in messages is ridiculous and and the few effects will get stale very fast.
