This doesn't replace the MacBook Air. Did you even watch the keynote?
Only one person has posted prior to you. He made no mention of the Air.... so who exactly are you criticizing... ROTFL
This doesn't replace the MacBook Air. Did you even watch the keynote?
The only MBP 13" I'm being shown in the European refurb store has a 128GB SSD.Refurbs available on Apple's website.
Hey, that took a lot of courage for them to do. Chill. /sThey said a lot about the function keys, as if they were terrible and old, but a couple minutes later announced a MacBook which has them. What is happening to this company?
It's probably because Apple needs to include a second controller to power the additional 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports. Plus, it creates an upsell for the $1799 model (faster processor, Touch Bar, more ports).This.
I can understand not including the fancy OLED bar, but removing 2 ports just because is a bit lame. There's no space restriction here, and the fact that this still bears a "Pro" branding.
Ditching SD card slot, HDMI port, etc for 4 USB-C ports is kinda okay, but ditching all that only for 2 USB-C port? On a Pro notebook? Come on Apple.
That article is pure bs. The MBA is still for sale so it's not dead.
The 13" entry level model appears to have a lower power 15W CPU - the Iris 540 in this model is for lower power CPUs -- this contrasts with the Iris 550 in the 13" touch bar model which is almost identical to the 540 *except* that it has a slightly higher turbo clock and *only* comes with higher power 28W CPUs.
The 13" entry level / no touch bar model also has significantly higher battery capacity according to Apple's tech spec page - 54.5-watt-hour vs 49.2-watt-hour is a >10% battery capacity boost.
My question is, given the two technical differences above, how on earth are both models rated for similar battery life? All signs point to the 13" entry level / no touch bar model having significantly longer battery life here right?
EDIT: It looks like the exact CPUs offered here for the 13" entry level and 13" touch bar respectively are the i5-6267U (15W) and the i5-6360U (28W).
I have no idea what this model does it Apples repetoire. What purpose does it serve? It is not a cheaper computer, as both the MBA and '15 MBP are cheaper. Its not to provide function keys, again the models just mentioned. Its not to be a cheap pro, because it is not cheap in any way.
They should have named it the Macbook Performa.
Apples product lines are just completely ****ed up, 90ties style now.
Do these new Macbook Pro's seriously have headphone jacks but lost all the other ports? LOL
This is absolute crap!!!!
Apple removes the 3.5mm jack from the iPhone 7 forcing the use of wireless or the Lightning port connected headphones (or the use of some stupid Lighting to 3.5mm converter).
So now consumers drink the Apple Kook-Aid go out and purchase Lighting connected headphones and the arrogant Apple clowns release the new MacBook WITH a 3.5mm audio jack and NO Lighting connector.
When asked about removing the 3.5mm jack, Phil Schiller has been quoted saying “the company can't justify the continued use of an 'ancient' single-use port”, and it took “courage” to abandon the 3.5mm jack.
Greg Joswiak has been quoted saying “The audio connector is more than 100 years old. It had its last big innovation about 50 years ago. You know that what was? They made it smaller. It hasn’t been touched since then. It’s a dinosaur. It’s time to move on”
Isn’t this lovely, Apple just finished telling everyone that the 3.5mm jack is a horrible, outdated, dinosaur technology and we all should run out and purchase wireless or Lighting connected headphones.
Thanks for the inconsistency Apple, or are you now going to say it took “courage” to leave the 3.5mm jack in the MacBook and you left out the Lighting port because that’s the next port on the chopping block.
Exactly why I purchased my new 13" MBP this past June and didn't wait for this "upgrade".....saw the writing on the wall. I totally agree that removing all of the ports that Apple did was really going backwards.
I sure hope they don't screw up whatever forthcoming Apple display (that I sorely need) they may be working on in the meantime.
The Post-Brexit Pound plummet.New UK prices are insane - and not in a good way. Very disappointing.
Usually, they upgrade the product but keep the same price point. What happened?
Not too dissimilar from the headphone jack. We get the infamous comment about courage and moving on, and then they keep the port on their "cutting-edge" not even shipping yet MacBooks. (Not a bad thing, but still, similar issue.)They said a lot about the function keys, as if they were terrible and old, but a couple minutes later announced a MacBook which has them. What is happening to this company?
