THE NOTCH, AGAIN !!!!
OMG, please stop making ugly products !!!
Such an ugly piece of hardware.
Face ID must be the worst tech to come in a decade.

Agreed. I’m annoyed enough that my iPhone can’t have words removed from the swype dictionary for input, and that android devices have timed/delayed sending of text messages and iPhone/iPad don’t.Apple is just disappointing customers... notch everywhere, removing and again putting back old ports, thicker and heavier laptops... still no underscreen fingerprint in iPhone...
Maybe we need to wait another decade to have a gadget fulfilling what we want and meanwhile competitors have already all we want !!
Which sort of defeats the point of the notch to begin with. If you can’t use all of the screen much of the time because of the notch, making the step described above necessary, what good is it?The notch won’t be in the way when watching movies in fullscreen or opening apps in full screen because fullscreen mode only opens right up to the edge of the notch.
I thought that was one of the primary benefits of the M1-series CPUs (thermals were so much better no extensive cooling was required)?I know you were joking, but the truth is that we, as a modern western society, have grown increasingly more comfortable and less resilient. The idea of "lugging around" an extra pound seems like a con in terms of performance. Last time we had a thinner, lighter design, the architecture was riddled with overheating issues due to poor thermal management.
The notch buying back only enough space, and only ever used for, menus (and awkwardly at that), while being empty/black in fullscreen usage makes it pretty annoying and pointless.Let's dispel this one. In full screen mode, only the 16:10 area below the notch is in use. Your movie content, if it were to stretch to the top of that area, would not be affected by the notch at all. And of course watching a movie in a window could not be affected because you can't move a window into the notch vertical space.
Aside from looks, really the only negative of the notch is that it will take away some horizontal space of the menu bar. I feel that is an issue that is way overblown. Yes, some apps will be affected. Yes, application developers may relocate some menu items to accommodate. Maybe there's even a Monterey option to move the menu bar back down below the notch for those who really can't stand it.

on paper the performances are incredible.

I think it's mostly because the expectations from the leaks often don't match what you get from the real thing.I love reading the comment section after Apple presentations. Don't even need coffee.
Doesn't look that similaron paper the performances are incredible.
Design looks a bit odd, with a nice sharp edge (iMac and iPad Pro design language) and a rounded bottom edges... reminds me the Withings Scale
why ports are more important than incredible performance by new chips?Apple is just disappointing customers... notch everywhere, removing and again putting back old ports, thicker and heavier laptops... still no underscreen fingerprint in iPhone...

That is not the point. People's argument is you look "extremely unprofessional" or "feel extremely embarrassed" when you need to use a dongle. But as a true professional, you need to be prepared for any scenario. And the work places I visited two years ago, VGA was quite common at several companies. Also, some companies do not have wireless and I needed to use ethernet. But I am prepared for any of these. No because VGA nowadays is rare and is being phased out. HDMI, however, is present on all new projectors and TVs. HDMI is a current standard that is not being phased out, and therefore, is being actively used. If you give a presentation anywhere, you will almost certainly need HDMI.
I'd almost agree, but look at the "leaks" of the Apple Watch 7--the final design was nowhere near what was expected by the leaks. That would be a rumour then. A leak is the passing on of actual information to the outside world hence would set expectations straight.
I don't find it either but of course our mileage varies. You may have to get used to it for a while because I only see the notch area expanding in functionality, like getting FaceID, and it will be there until Apple can figure out way to keep a small bezel and camera(s) together. I fear the thickness of the components doesn't play well with the thinness of the screen housing so they had to go vertical in this instance. But what's done is done. The notch buying back only enough space, and only ever used for, menus (and awkwardly at that), while being empty/black in fullscreen usage makes it pretty annoying and pointless.
My critique about yesterday's MBPro-14/16 release:
6. Windows will *not* run on Apple Silicon; therefore, Macs are devalued for those of us who paid the premium for one computer to be able to run both macOS *and* Windows.
7. Apple should return replaceable RAM/SSD/battery, for Right To Repair, while it returns ports.

Sorry. I meant "thick and heavy" in the appearance/design of the base of the laptop. I do lift, FWIWHeavy?
3.5-4.7 lbs is “heavy”
“do you even lift bro?” Lol. All joking aside did everyone forgot what their knapsacks weight while going to college or university? Heck even my high school books were more than twice this 5-days a week and didn’t include wrestling boots or soccer cleats tracksuit adding a few grams.
I’m not even big or have big arms or strong hands and not since 1993 have I complained about the weight of a laptop. Just boggles my mind.
I agree, the pricing is very strange. I wonder if the pricing reflects the difficulty in producing the silicon itself. What makes the 16GB to 32GB memory upgrade a poor choice is this:Now, the unified memory, memory and processor expansions seem excessive to me. 500€ to go from 16 to 32 gigs of unified memory seems to me an outrage.
what pro is using fullscreen mode for all their apps? an insane amount of window switching for my workflowThe notch works! They handle the notch well. Many people who haven’t seen the event here complain without knowing that the fullscreen mode works fine.
I’m not talking about what how the pros use their laptop. I’m talking about how Apple compensates the notch on the new MacBook Pro. Look! the active area hasn’t been obscured by the notch at all. You even get the same 16:10 active area all time. Isn’t that great?what pro is using fullscreen mode for all their apps? an insane amount of window switching for my workflow

Can't have it both ways.
The design does look thick and a throwback indeed. I like ‘em thick lol 😂Sorry. I meant "thick and heavy" in the appearance/design of the base of the laptop. I do lift, FWIWBut I spoke too soon, people have been commenting on how chunky it looks since I made that comment. Dont get me wrong. Im a big fan of this new macbook, only a minor quibble over how "thick" it looks. The notch seems negligible to me.
