So they donated $23 million. I'll clap for them after you telll me how much they made in the process.

Based on what they report, $23 million donated would come from over $1.035 billion in sales.

As a stockholder, I'm glad they don't.
I'm a shareholder too, and I would rather they were more genuine with their social outreach.

That's why we as a society don't judge people based on the amount they donate but the percent to income. No one is proud of billionaire for making a $100 donation. We are proud of the 14 year old who spent his summer mowing lawns and only made $200. If Apple want to donate money they could pull it out of their unprecedented cash reserves. This is a profit driver not a good will gesture.

Money is money.

If you're past the 14 day return window, unfortunately, they won't swap. You could try your luck, but I seriously doubt they'd let you swap.
I was just joking, I got my phone back in October, had I know they would do a red phone I probably would have waited.

Happy wife = happy life.
We just bkgut a house. Happy wife may equally loan default lmao.

In all seriousness we are with tmovile jump on demand. I'll see if they let me just swap it. It will be $100 down I am sure since it's the 128gb version, but that's better than $900 haha

I actually think the red ines look nicer. But with a black front.

However, your mockup does remind me of darth maul. And I dig him. So there's that.

So how much do Apple profit from these and how much goes to RED?

They donated 13.20 from the sale of each iPod Touch back in 2014, so I assume similar?

Who knows exactly how much they profit from each handset? I don't know exactly. But, if you sell as many iPhones as Apple will likely sell for this version and you multiply that times 13.20, that's a huge donation.

That's the whole point lol More profit equals more money towards whatever cause. Sure Apple makes profit too. So what. Not to mention that any popular company who has a special campaign for a cause is going to make money. Even if 100% of the Product Red sales went to a cause Apple would still make profit from that campaign on other products not related to the campaign. That's just how it goes. Famous artists makes lots of money when they die that goes to the estate. Are you going to fault the family for receiving more income?

That's a great spin on greed. Apple is sitting on one of the largest cash hoards in history and they can't even associate themselves with a reputable charity that actually puts those they are helping ahead of themselves. It isn't that they make money, its how deceptive they are in doing it.

And as far as artists go, yeah, the family typically doesn't deserve it. Copyright should end when someone dies. Its granted to a person, and that person no longer needs it when they die. So yeah, I fault them for allowing something so screwed up to continue being screwed up. Using greed to defend greed doesn't help you justify anything.

lol I don't think they're deceiving anyone. Maybe only you since you're the only one who doesnt realize sales go up during charitable campaigns. It's just bleed over sales via up sales etc. what do you want them to do. Set a year time frame whereby all sales incurred after the start of Red Campaign go to charity? Heck why not make it infinite since they often have a Red campaign. Or better yet, ban the sale of everything except red products so no one like you can complain about profiteering.

Regarding dead artists' families not deserving copyright income, I think you pretty much discredited yourself.

My issue isn't that they donate money. It's great that they want to donate money, but the Red campaign is morally broken. Apple donates 14% of a product with a 300% markup, and gets 82% of their donation back. This means only a tiny fraction of the money goes towards helping AIDS in aftica. You joke and say "set a year time frame whereby all sales incurred after the start of Red Campaign go to charity?" The issue isn't how much they donate. It's how they go about it. Yes, there is a difference between donating a 10 million dollars, and donating 10 million dollars while earning a billion. The later is no different then selling the world health orginization $50 pills that cost you $5 to make and claiming you saved millions of lives. I don't give Apple credit for helping save millions of lives. I blame them for the lives that are lost because they managed a donation with tricky accounting.

And why would a family deserve money from a dead persons idea? Maybe you could convince me if they died right after they invented or created something that they could have profit for a year or two, but that idea needs to be public domain ASAP.

Apple today announced it is launching a special edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on Friday, March 24.

Screen-Shot-10-e1490106355345-800x538.jpg

PRODUCT(RED) models will be available in 128GB and 256GB storage capacities for the same $749/$849 and $869/$969 prices as the equivalent iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models in standard colors. The anodized aluminum's vibrant red finish is complemented by a white Apple logo and white front bezels.

Apple says the model is in recognition of more than 10 years of partnership between Apple and (RED), which it says gives customers a way to contribute to the Global Fund and "bring the world a step closer to an AIDS-free generation."The special edition iPhone joins the current (PRODUCT)RED lineup, which is available to purchase year-round, including the full iPod line of products, Beats Solo3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones, Beats Pill+ Portable Speaker, the iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case, and a range of accessories for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

The new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone will be available to order on Apple's website, at Apple Stores, and at select authorized resellers and carriers. Apple says the new model will begin shipping to customers by the end of March in the United States and more than 40 countries and regions around the world.

Love my product red iPhone very much. It is so gorgeous look and combination red and white. It is so artistic combination. I am so glad Apple pick the red and white, not red and black. Thanks Apple and kudos to the management who appreciates the art. Protected with clear otterbox symmetry and Belkin ultra visible glass, the red phone has an outstanding physical beauty over jet black with great protection. No color can beat red as it stands out over all colors within iPhone selection.

I wish that it would have just been All red instead of red and white.
It always looks like Valentine's Day to me.
