Looks OK. I'm not impressed. Seems odd to release this about half way through the cycle of the iphone7. Oh well.

It's about trying to entice people who may not have otherwise bought an iPhone 7. It's actually a smart move (and a fairly common move by other companies). Once sales of a product start slowing down, they release minor tweaks to the original product in an attempt to give the sales numbers a little bit of a bump.

This is why I always go for the black version of the iPhone; white fronts are ugly.

I would have preferred silver if it had a black or silver front (kinda like the MacBooks)

I always gov black front, except SE.

I like the white/gold combo on the retro beast,

still not regretting it, and easy to find for wherever its laying,

Glad they went with a silver ring for the home button rather than red.
[doublepost=1490113057][/doublepost]A Jet White model would have had my money instantly lol.

iPod Touch hasn't had an update since July 2015.
iPod Nano hasn't had an update since July 2015.
iPod Shuffle hasn't had an update since July 2015.
Apple TV hasn't had an update since October 2015.
iMac hasn't had an update since October 2015.
Macbook Air hasn't had an update since March 2015.
Mac Mini hasn't had an update since October 2014.
Mac Pro hasn't had an update since December 2013.
..... so, let's not upgrade those just yet.

Because nobody is waiting for a new server or workstation and pay the Apple tax to get something state of the art.

The iPad Mini had a release recently in September 2016.
The iPhone 7 had a release recently in September 2016.
The iPad 9.7" had a release recently in September 2016 (even though the Pro model, not the Air).
..... so, let's upgrade what's not even 6 months old.

Because everybody is waiting to replace their recent purchase with the same product again.
Who doesn't want to replace their iPhone 7 with an iPhone 7, and their iPad Air 2 with not an iPad Air Pro.
(hopefully nobody will know that you can put a case on the iPhone 7 that's red ..)
(hopefully nobody will know that there will be 3 new iPad Pro models in a couple of weeks ..)

Tim Cook, 2017.
You probably mean that their functionality as premium flash drives might induce some overlap

1) true black front is difficult to produce and keep without marks
2) contrary to the whiners on this site, white is the much more widely preferred front color
3) try emailing Tim Cook. He might care...
Tim has never answered my emails, but Steve used to. As for #2, are you sure about that? Perhaps because it's the one offered in the greatest variety of back colors. You can't get gold or rose gold or silver without a white front. There are simply more white colors, therefore it's probably more popular. White looks terrible with the display off because of the ugly black rectangle and the visible camera and proximity sensors. As for #1, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. They make black displays all the time. The original iPhone was black on light silver!

Well....
If you can't innovate, iterate.

In the not so distant future the attention of Apple devotees will be turned and the next big thing will be waiting to see what startup company comes along and picks up the mantle. It pains me to say that but better face the truth sooner rather than later.

Aestheticly speaking I'm not a fan of a red iPhone, but with that said, I hope this model raises a lot of awareness and funding towards research and a cure.

and there IS a 128GB SE too
ugh but why still space gray? so frustrating. they did the same thing with the new iPad, which in itself makes no sense that the mini 4 is still more expensive....
[doublepost=1490114121][/doublepost]
Yes but is it updated CPU, RAM, Cam or only 128GB?
2gb of ram and an a9 is MORE than the SE needs. I'd like a color update for it though.

Apple did not upgrade the iPad 9.7" pro in September 2016. They updated it in March 2016. It is a year old, and ready for an upgrade.

You think they're still coming? That would be nice, but it won't be three. Either they do the 10.5" now, and the 9.7" becomes the cheaper model (which happened today). Or they wait to do the 10.5" after the iPhone event if it betrays the design language of the iPhone Edition. I think if they do that, we'll only see a 9.7" and 12.9" Pro update now that look the same with upgraded internals, and they'll just wait until next spring to do the 10.5" model. The thing about the 10.5" model is that it would be weird to design a sleek new 10.5" device as the base Pro and then not redesign the 12.9" model to also have minimal bezels. I suppose they could do it, but there haven't really been many rumors about it. However, shaving down some size and weight on the 12.9" Pro would go a long way towards addressing a key concern about the device for many early adopters. It's just a bit unwieldy for a handheld device.

I just want him to grow a pair and walk into the office and slam his fist on the table and say 'we are now down fancy pantsing around, " take control and put focus on what's now and next, and drop all these old products they never want to sell anymore anyway, and simplify their product line They now sell 6 iphones in 6 colors. If you believe so strong in your phone being the best phone, then the 6 isn't eh best one, the se isn't the best one, the million colors aren't the best. SAme with ten different ipads and all that stuff. have one line, laptops, one line iphones, one line ipads.. no need for ipad mini air and ipad mini pro, and iphone plus and SE and a separate red product, and 3 different laptops when you claim one is the best. offer the best one in three sizes, ditch the rest.

if it's confusing for tech ppl to buy the right one, or to feel confused if you have to wait or buy in now, etc.. then your consumers in the apple store wont know left from right anymore at all.

do i need to buy this laptop? it's neweer than the pro, "but its not faster, its just smaller, and expensive, and doesn't perform well in adobe premiere; you need to buy this 2 year old model imac for that" .. oh ok, that is exactly what i expected from apple.. it's why i didn't go intot he microsoft store.

but no, tim doesn't mind fancy pantsing around and confusing their product line and leaving the creative industry hanging except for ten ppl that wanna draw with a 7500 $ apple pen.

We get it, you want to be a fashion company, change your name to apple fashion, and announce that you stop making computers, we will adapt to the next one that delivers what we need.

Dude I completely agree. Apple has lost it's vision, and I know that sounds cliche but I believe it's true. They haven't updated their Macs at all for several years, and the touchbar or whatever it's called feels way too much like a gimmick. I agree there are way too many iPhone models. The funny thing is that the products that got least amount of updates (Macs) have the best discerned models. Mac mini as a desktop for consumers who want a small desktop computer, iMac for people who want a more powerful computer and dont want to hassle with a separate screen. Macbook for people on the run a lot. MacBook Pro for people who need a powerful laptop. Mac Pro for the absolute power users.

When I look at the iPhones I see a whole different Apple though. I see a half-baked irregular updated SE, although a good concept I have the feeling it will get neglected by Apple like the 5c. I see their flagship, and they have the flagship+, and they have the flagship from last year with a 100$ cut. I sincerely hope the rumors about the iPhone Edition are not true, because Apple was already screwing people over with their 'entry 16gb'. Making a flagship-flagship model is so against everything Steve stood for lol.

Okay. Looks like iphone 8 is coming out and is there a reason why people would get this other than the cause and special edition? I mean...the tech spec is still same, right? I mean...it's still sufferring hiss gate, right?

Omg...this forum was named wrong. Please name it: Anti-Apple forum...because nowadays every topic is full of haters and complains.

Stop whining so much ...Jesus...Is just a red phone. it's not a big deal anyway.

We all know WWDC doesn't bring new hardware, just software updates, then everyone pins their hopes on September, and after months of waiting, we get emojis or a touch bar or something similarly ridiculous.

But we can keep wishing! I wish for a million dollars.

Well there has to be a first for everything right? I still wait for that time Apple all proves us wrong again. Just like it did all those times with Steve. I hope for an event nobody saw coming or products that are so far ahead of the competition samsung and others will **** their pants. Alas, I think Tim is only focussed about maximising profits instead of delivering a superior product. They only use the phrase "great products" but that phrase gained trust in the time that Steve used it. That has worn off for me by now, I no longer take Apple serious when they claim they will release 'exciting products'

I just noticed the antennas are also colour-matched, why are the gold and rose gold still white?

if only it had a black front, à la...
ipod_u2.jpg

Actually bought that back in the day. I think I may still have it some place…

Wouldn't mind black & more of a burgundy color, either.

They began to change the style of production for the front when they released the jet black phone...

But regardless. Have you seen mock ups of black on red? It's beyond hideous. And on top of that, Apple produces phone color combinations that they expect will sell the best. I trust their research and data than random posters on a random forums site. As does Apple.

Why stupid white front again!!!??? Can we not get black/red version? Which btw, is a very nice combination?
Why are all the colours except two with white front? I don't get this :(

My exact thought when I saw the white face. The red is cool, the white is not my style - I would very much like an option to have a black face.

I've had a product red case on my phone since the 5. I would buy one of these for sure. Probably still put it in a case though.

Why is the ring around the home button silver? It should be red!!

No, it's not a red phone. It's a Product (Red) phone. They are using the death of over a million people a year to promote the illusion of activism via cause branding. I thought this fad went away with the iPod, but I am sure that one person from 2014 will appreciate that it matches their SQUA(RED) Reader.

If they wanted to reinvolve themselves in this they would make their next iPhone exclusively a Product (Red) for the first few months to maximize donations. Make the Red more compelling by giving it exclusive access to new tech and donating the early adopter tax. That won't happen because social good isn't the point of this. Apple is trying to reinvigorate sales of an old product instead of actually helping people in need.

I know this and I get it but 80% of people don't give a flock about this...People will see just a red Iphone and they will buy it! And that's that.
The other part with "They are using the death of over a million people a year to promote the illusion of activism via cause branding" it's so true but it's so useless to complain about it because no one is gonna do something about it.
And also we know already that Apple is Satan in person xD why are we shocked?
