wat ?!

again 1 USB-C even without thunderbolt support ? #fail

Throw another one into the pile of "After an entire year without an upgrade they only give it a modest CPU upgrade? No TB3, improved camera, or price drop?"

I don't understand the problem with them not offering Thunderbolt 3. Isn't that merely enabling T3 via software? The hardware itself uses USB-C. I would think WWDC will announce T3 on the new MacBooks, at which time, the rMB would support it under the next OSX upgrade, no?

As for the single USB-C they will likely update that after the iPhone 7 arrives and drops the 3.5mm Jack. I'm expecting a mid-cycle retina MacBook that replaces the 3.5mm with a Lightning 2 connector which can be used to charge the MacBook, as well as USB 3.0 data speeds. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see this particular update wait until next Spring.

There might be a price drop when they remove the 3.5mm headphone jack, but certainly after its second year.

I do the same !
My sys info gives me this... where did you get your 91% health figure ?

Charge Information:

Charge Remaining (mAh): 7255

Fully Charged: Yes

Charging: No

Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 7255

Health Information:

Cycle Count: 132

Condition: Normal
The health info comes from the iStat Menus I use. You can calculate that information without using iStats however, from the system information and knowing the actual capacity of the battery from the battery specs. It is a percentage value of the current capacity versus the design capacity. In my case, my battery has a design capacity of 4680 mAh but currently is capable of holding only 4276 mAh.

Still just a single USB-C(rippled) port and no Thunderbolt over USB-C?!
Completely retarded. Apple is getting out of control with all this product crippling and fragmentation.

Usually I'd agree, but this update is pretty pathetic to be honest. I was even giving the rMB the benefit of doubt in an earlier thread.

How is this worse than any other mid-life MacBook update which only bumps the processor? This MacBook design is only a year old. What's there to really update? The FaceTime camera? That's really it without a complete redesign which clearly wasn't going to happen. Not sure what people were hoping for.

No, T3 is not a software update.

From what I understand Skylake doesn't have T3 built in. So to support T3, Apple would have to include an Alpine Ridge chipset, which is power hungry and takes up space.

The next rMB update will have KabyLake, which has T3 built in.

Another kicker, even though it doesn't apply to most people, but T3 doesn't support display port 1.3! That means you can't get SST 5K @ 60hz. You have to wait for T4 for that. :(

The people who buy these MacBooks wouldn't need to have an adapter. That one port is basically useless to that demographic. Honestly look at young people for a change, they don't even use USBs anymore. I see hundreds of people at my college with their laptop ports filled with dust. Google Drive is all they would really use.
Some of us old farts don't use USB much either these days. :) I really only use USB to read pictures off of SD cards, occasionally to connect to a camera to push a firmware update. My files and photo library sync wirelessly against a NAS, as does my Mac mini that I use for any heavy lifting. I did the same with my Air.

Pick up a rMB and show where you'd fit additional ports without redesigning the thing.

...

I think that is what people are complaining about, Apple being lazy and just waiting for Intel to do the work and just putting in a small spec bump. Must be using all that R&D money on an Apple car.

TB3 will be included in the MBP and iMac and mac mini and mac pro updates...but i think just because they have that extra little space to include an Alpine Ridge chipset

Looking good, one hour of extra battery life and a better graphics card!

Underwhelming all the way around. Still stuck with two compromise devices just like we were yesterday.

My daughter is going to college this fall and wanted a Mac for graduation. I'm sure her eyes will get all shiny over the Rose Gold MacBook. I was dreaming of an updated screen for the MBA...(knew it wasn't going to happen though).
The 13" MacBook Pro was selling for $1200 the other day. Keep an eye or for a deal and avoid these useless toys.

One of the worst things you could do to your battery (phone, laptop, iPad) is to constantly plug and plug it; and that's exactly what a single port does for this one.

Wonder how bad the battery will be after a year or so of use

Wait. What? I have a tingly feeling........ You don't know what you are saying.

Yes IF it came with at least 720P webcam, TB3, another USB C port. Then I would buy one.

Just because some of us like Apple products it doesn't mean we swallow all ****** upgrades...baaaa.

That's the point. You DON'T have to like all upgrades. I'm not buying one either. Not all devices are for all people.

And can we not see once and for all that, after years of sheep references, people who make sheep references are following each other around like, well, sheep.

Well, I wasn't expecting a 2nd USB port. However, I think TB3 support and something higher than 480p is a pretty reasonable expectation especially since it only has one port. I still think it's a reasonably priced machine, but the things still missing from the Mac line in general this late into 2016 is rather worrying.

Apple helped create the TB standard standard, yet a Mac released in April 2016 still doesn't have TB while I've been able to get TB3 on a Dell for 6 months. It just makes no sense.
