I agree my friend - reading some of the posts on here you could be forgiven that Fanboys are jumping off cliffs in despair.

Apple: Just give us an option to 'trigger the update; how hard can it be?
Totally agree! There should be a manual option to upgrade.

Is there some sort of setting that needs to be activated to enable AirPods to automatically switch between devices as promised? Or is it just something that will work once Big Sur is released? Mine are not switching from my Mac to my iPhone or vise versa. I skimmed through this thread and didn't see anything.

Seriously. Everyone over-hyped it.

it’s a cool in all.

But what’s the actual use case for this?
This is just directional binaural audio that’s been around for years. It tweaks the latency between left and right channels to trick your brain into thinking the sound is coming from somewhere over yonder.

try “Pearl Jam - Of the Girl” for an example of it being statically encoded into the audio track. The idea is through software you can do it in real time. So you might be able to watch a concert and move your VR character around the stage and the audio changes depending on where you position your avatar.

The new firmware also introduced a loud rattling sound in one of the AirPods! It appears to be the microphone introducing and amplifying ambient noise. The noise is loud and pronounced from wind, talking on the phone or internal body noises (swallowing, etc)
The noise disappears if you turn off noise cancellation. Yes, I've rebooted, re-paired and restarted any part of the system I can. ;0) Its bad enough to not have noise cancellation turned off. meh. Anyone else have this issue?

This is a hardware problem, nothing to do with the firmware update. You may have just started noticing it. “Rattlegate”. You’ll have to get Apple to replace it. I’ve had to get four replacements since november 2019. Twice on the right, twice on the left one.

I just bought a replacement pair of the base AirPods 2 (not Pro, no wireless charging case) and the firmware out of the box was 2D3, which was 3-½ updates ago. 😳

 must have a crapton of these still sitting around in boxes.

I have an issue with 2 pairs of AirPods 2. It seems like 3A283 firmware just killed the microphones.

MEANWHILE, if I knock the mic hardly with my finger IT STARTS working for a whole. You can test it in native dictaphone app.

There is no Apple Store in Ukraine to go to and all official services just rejected my request for warranty service.

I believe Apple should firmware fix as far it is just stolen couple of hundreds dollars from our pockets.

Totally frustrating.

If you are the only one having the problem, it is not the firmware update, but something else. Works and has worked on mine - no problem. Maybe yours need to be cleaned, maybe they got wet, maybe they are just broken

I'm pretty sure they are not made to order
