Sat quietly waiting for it to maybe update, possibly, or not. Maybe I’m wasting my time and it won’t update until tonight. This is so damn stupid. Just give us an option to check/force an update. It’s literally the easiest option

just updated my Powerbeats using the Beats Updater on my Mac 😀 Feature Enhancements!! yay!

Didn't see anyone mention that Powerbeats were getting the update too

So I just finally updated mine. After waiting almost 12 hours.

The trick for me, connect the case to power.

Connect the AirPods to your iPhone. Go to Bluetooth and forget the device. Then just wait.

After about 5 min - I then opened the case held the button at the back to re-pair. During the intro screen got the prompts to enable spatial audio.

Me too... disappointed to read: "On iPad, spatial audio works with the iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (3rd generation) and later, the ‌iPad Pro‌ 11‑inch, the iPad Air (3rd generation), the ‌iPad‌ (6th generation) and later, and the ‌iPad‌ mini (5th generation)."
Oh that is very disappointing. I’d expect a 3 year old high value item to fully support updated features for at least longer than that. I wonder if there’s a component needed that isn’t in those models. I’ve wanted a new iPad Pro (only because it’s prettier) for a while, but haven’t been able to justify the cost thus far.

Ugh, I have a 5th gen iPad - just missed the cutoff...

It probably is something on the M10 motion coprocessor that it needs, since it works on A10 and newer only.

Edit: Never mind, iPad Pro 2nd gen has an A10X - this limitation appears to be somewhat arbitrary? Wonder if it will work with a jailbreak tweak in the future.

Showing the new software on mine but nothing seems to have changed, or do you need the ios14 beta downloaded on your phone.

mine FINALLY updated. Did not do anything in particular just like the times before I put it on my charging matt and now they were updated. Its stupid that you cannot update them with the tap of a button in the settings once placed on a charger, like with the Apple Watch

edit: argh, for some reason the fitting test fails on my right ear no matter which tip I try now

But still, betas, regardless.

You asked how people could be using iOS 14, that's how. Doesn't matter if it's beta, it's accessible by anyone and lots of people use it, and you're likely to find a lot of people on here using it. Thus how so many are saying about it :)

Will they only update when attached to an iPhone? Or will an iPad also update them? I had them paired and charging all night with my phone and no update. Thinking of trying to charge them while paired to my iPad.

One of my iPods pro was replaced by Apple under warranty. Wondering if that's inhibiting the update somehow? I tried un-pairing and re-pairing and they still won't update. The serial number shows as "?" on my phone for some reason. One time yesterday I got it to show an actual number, but then it went back to the "?"

My Pros weren’t updating yesterday until I reset them twice, and the second time I paired them through my iPad Pro (instead of my iPhone 11PM) and that finally did the trick. Had the AirPods in the case charging next to my iPad Pro and I actually saw the green LED on the case flash once, signaling that the update had happened. Strange how it can not work after trying so many things, but then all of a sudden it updates. It would certainly be helpful to have that be a consumer manageable thing.

I absolutely cannot get mine to update. I have tried every tip I've seen, but they refuse to update. This is driving me insane. I left them plugged in and near the phone for hours. I've unpaired them from every device, I've reset them multiple times and they're still on the old firmware. Come on, Apple!

Finally updated. Used my APP to watch a movie for 30 mins, and then put them in the case while charging the case near my iPhone X for about 30 mins, and then they were updated on next listen.

Was trying for at least 24 hours though, unpairing and re-paring, etc.. Perhaps it's just a gradual roll-out situation.

Just did what you did....complete reset and paired them to my iPad pro and within 15 minutes they are updated!

I certainly hope the ANC is back to its original glory.

This update actually fixed Noise Cancellation for me. I had the issue where I'd get static in my right airpod when I would move my head. Thoroughly cleaned it and still had the problem. It's no longer an issue after this update though. I was about to send them in for repair this week too. I only had the problem in Transparency and Noise Cancellation mode, so it definitely was a mic issue.

I tried to use my moms iPhone and connected my AirPods Pro and left AirPods Pro on charge for 15 min, and it worked. Try using it on another iPhone and see if it works.

I am not sure what's wrong with mine. when I open the case near my iPhone/iPad it says AirPods have not ever connected to the device. Press connect and then the back button. But if I take out the AirPods it automatically connects to the device. anybody else facing this issue?

Spacial audio is working now on my Airpod Pros. At least it is with my iPhone running the public beta of iOS 14. Now I'd like to see it work on the AppleTV so I could have some semblance of surround sound. I know it's not "true" surround, but it's better than what I have now, which is nothing.

It’s sad to see my 9.7 iPad Pro does not support spatial audio. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Maybe you don't have ap v2 or app.
