I really don't think they expect pro editors to use iPads. The iPad Pro is meant for some pro work but not necessarily all. The right tool for the job.
I agreed with you, I know that the iPad is limited , pro or not but the problem is that mr cook made a comment saying that iPads replace computers, so my problem is with mr cook comment, there are a lot of things we can't do on iPads, and even if we can do it I will take a little longer, mobile devices are good but they don't have the same level of performance that an extreme system has, every time I see iPhones and iPads benchmarks I can't help myself and I really have to laugh, they are 10 years behind desktop computers when it comes to performance. my hackintosh run circles around anything that apple sales right now. and that includes the fully loaded iMac Pro

I miss Aperture every day, but its codebase is as ancient as iTunes and would require a rewrite like Photos and FCP X got. I guess Apple decided it wasn't worth the effort. :/

If it's 32-bit, which I think it is, it's over in 10.15.
we should rather get some modern equivalent of iPhoto - somethng that allows us to keep photos on our disc instead of buying space in cloud from Apple :/

Apple really needs to port FinalCutPro to iOS if they want professionals to use the iPad Pro as a full computer like they’ve been pitching.

The new iPad Pro has power to spare. What’s missing is support for direct access to external storage via USB-C. It’s clear that that’s coming, likely as early as iOS 13 with the Files app redesign. Most of Final Cut’s UI already appears ready for touch targets instead of a cursor. I think it’s a matter of when, not if.

Final Cut is the only reason why I still keep my Mac around.

What do you edit on now .. and are you on the new iPad Air ?

I edit video on an iMac. Photography, which is my main gig, I edit in Lightroom on the new 12.9” iPad Pro.

I’ve been trying to do the same thing on my iPad Pro. It’s a bit clunky with Luma fusion and affinity photo. I really wish fcpx would work on iPad Pro. And I need to try Lightroom
