I'm digging the new app.
I ran a test, with decent results (although warning, this is a horrible rendition of Boys II Men, it was done in 15 minutes without rehearsing).

I used my Quiet Confort 15 noise-cancelling headphones with the iPhone mic cord. Like it would on the iPad, the metronome (not that I had the tempo right) and the previous tracks played into my ear, while I recorded new tracks on top of the previous one.
I was able to send the mixed track as an email, and then open it into Dropbox, and generate a public link all without leaving my iPhone 4. I even clipped off parts of each track and tested some effects.
I was doubtful this could work as an iPhone app, but I'm sold.
This is really useful! The idea that you can send it off to GarageBand on the Mac for more work is excellent.
Once GarageBand in the Mac and GarageBand on iOS gets updated with iCloud support, people can really have an insanely useful workflow.
Bravo, Apple.
