Apple Updates MacBook Air Line With Sandy Bridge, Thunderbolt and Backlit Keyboards

Should I get i7? How much differences between i7 and i5 dual core in terms of performance?

LOL - anything to excuse Apple being cheap in their base builds. Sorry, but the price difference is very hard to ignore. I doubt it cost Apple all that much to add it. Face it, they do that to get people to step up to the model with even more of a margin.
 
So no 128 gig SSD standard, no 2 gig ram standard on the entry 11 inch mr analysts. Still sweet machines. And all the backlit-keyboard people are happy now!
 
No BTO 8GB ram option :(. Oh well I'll still probably get one.

Looks like a decent upgrade. Hopefully this makes the threads about the backlit keyboard go away. Now if I get really lucky Apple will decide that they would rather replace my old MacBook air than repair it when I take it in in a couple weeks and I can get one.

It's missing from the apple store in Singapore as well.

Does this mean that older white macbooks will actually become collector's items, sorta like antiques? :eek:

But darn, the entry level model doesn't really look very enticing, though for its price, it is arguably on par with the macbook of old, since casual users won't really need more than 2gb ram for mundane use.
 
$999 still lacks 128GB HDD and 4GB RAM.

on the 13.3" MBA looks like it has 17watts CPU not the 25 watts CPU, interesting and retains the same battery life.

i think the turboboost is taking the battery life.

refurbished MBA looks attractive :)

One of the other changes is the removal of the "eject" button, which is good because that puts the F buttons back in their usual positions. It's always been annoying because was the only Apple keyboard with that issue because they added the power button there.
