Seriously? they seriously didn't move the charging port on the mouse - What an absolute SH** show. I've lost total faith in Tim now, the fact he couldn't listen to so many people calling out the placement of the charging port.

What absolute tripe!

IMO Apple needs a new lead now, Tim is NOT about innovation.

The new USB-C accessories are not available yet on the Apple site as stand alone but the old keyboard with Touch ID / Lightning is showing as not available. Wonder if you have to wait until Nov 8 to order (doubt they do pre-sale for accessories).
Yeah - it's a bummer they didn't move the charging port on Magic Mouse but seriously how often do you charge? One a month for me.

and they just showed up on apple.com

If you sell a computer with minimalist clean design then the mouse has to match.

If you want a mouse with physical buttons and holes on the side you can go buy one.
The people who complain the most about this charging port are the ones who would never buy it anyway. I understand the complaints about sharp edges or low precision of the MM, but charging once every few weeks, which requires turning the mouse upside down for a few hours, is NOT a problem.

The Magic Trackpad is not available (anymore), I got this.

Yeah but how am I going to get likes on StinkedIn if I don't complain about Apple designs from the point of view of an ignoramous?

They've just pulled the existing lightning keyboards and mice. I think they made a deployment mistake.

Edit: USB-C is now appearing.

The pic on their site doesn't show a side or bottom view... are they ashamed?

Why would you suggest such a dangerous situation?!! Don’t you know if you were able to use the mouse while plugged in, then many people would leave it plugged in all the time, leading to the battery not charging properly and possible resulting in an incendiary condition that could destroy everything and everyone that you love?!! Only Apple has the courage to protect their valuable source of services revenue by protecting their users in such a brave manner!
It’s a wireless mouse.

I have a hybrid gaming mouse. What they had to do to give it a cord with proper strain relief isn’t pretty when the cord is unplugged. If you think Apple would do something like that to one of their products I don’t know what to tell you.

A full charge lasts a month and if you forget, 5 minutes gets you 8 hours. There is absolutely no reason to butcher the design to let you use it while plugged in.

Username rings true.

In all seriousness, the problem is that third parties lack apis to provide the same features. For example, I really want a keyboard that supports Touch ID, but refuse in 2024 to buy the Apple one since it doesn’t have backlights.

What is missing from their trackpads which are still the best on the market?
The iPhones touch sample rate is 240 Hz, double the 120 Hz refresh rate of the device. The MacBooks are largely using 120 Hz screens now too as are many of the people using them with external screens. So the trackpad’s polling rate should be 240 Hz. But it’s not… it’s either 90 or 120 Hz as I can’t remember, and that’s equal or less than the refresh of the screens.

This is a massive deficiency, and I don’t know how Apple hasn’t caught it yet.
