This is the new Apple. Don't update a product for years, then make one small change while other companies are releasing superior products. We have seen this before ...Blackberry, Microsoft, Intel..... Arrogance.

You serious? Even on the PC side we don't do that.
Of course he’s serious. Just about every other rechargeable wireless mouse has this capability. The Logitech MX Master series, one of the most popular, for example:

They did something sneaky. With the new iMac, now you can only choose ONE of either the colour matched mouse or colour matched trackpad. You no longer have the option to buy both. So stupid. These colour matched accessories can't be bought separately.

I get what everyone is saying re: charging not really being an issue for the mouse, but it would be nice to be able to use it as a wired mouse also .. which one can do with the keyboards while plugged in

Sometimes you get wonky Bluetooth situations or might just want to plug it in and use it wired with a different machine

It's additional flexibility that is a nice perk on the keyboards and would be welcome on the mouse.

The new USB-C accessories are not available yet on the Apple site as stand alone but the old keyboard with Touch ID / Lightning is showing as not available. Wonder if you have to wait until Nov 8 to order (doubt they do pre-sale for accessories).
Yeah - it's a bummer they didn't move the charging port on Magic Mouse but seriously how often do you charge? One a month for me.
FWIW they are showing for me, on the GB store, and with more or less immediate shipping too. The picture on the mouse page doesn't show where the charging port is though.

I am being tempted by the black keyboard and trackpad. Their being Lightning previously was how I was handling the temptation up until now.

I'd also really like to be able to buy a new fullsize keyboard and trackpad for my blue M1 iMac - I bought the standard config with the little keyboard and mouse and have been regretting it ever since. (I actually don't care about the location of the mouse's charging port. it's how it feels in normal use I can't stand.)

They are available on the UK site, cos I can see them, the listing says USB C in the specs.

Seriously can't they just make the thing more ergonomic?? My MX master 3 is great so I'll keep that, but its just bizard apple make a fantastic mouse that sucks by its ergonomics + it's charging port (I hope they fixed that)

I have exactly this mouse and I'll tell you one thing: every time I charge it and start using it while it's charging I remember how much this cable is annoying and inconvenient. I try to charge it when I'm not using it or I charge it briefly and unplug it.

I had the MM for a few months and it's funny how the charging problem is exaggerated in the mainstream. I gave up on the MM because it was uncomfortable to hold the mouse, among other things because of its edges. The second issue was the polling rate which was too low and not really suitable for working with graphics. Turning the mouse over for a few hours every few weeks was one of the lowest priorities for returning it.

Yes, happened with me today. The mouse went out of battery, but then simply plugging in the USB-C cable allowed me to continue the mouse while it is being charged at the same time.

Who's this "we"? Not everyone sees the placement of the charging port as "upsetting."
Well, I don’t personally mind that. I mean, it’s a funny meme, but how many people are really wanting to use it another way?

No, I just meant that these are so old, it would’ve been nice to see some other upgrades.

Amazingly, the iMac demo video they've just released doesn't show the mouse properly. They show the computer in use in a video-chat situation, and the front of the mouse is hidden by something on the desk.

Would the Magic Mouse benefit from MagSafe? You still can't use it while charging, but you can drop it on the charger whenever you're away from the desk.

The people who complain the most about this charging port are the ones who would never buy it anyway. I understand the complaints about sharp edges or low precision of the MM, but charging once every few weeks, which requires turning the mouse upside down for a few hours, is NOT a problem.
Based on WHAT evidence? Your claim is completely incorrect. I use Macs all day every day and have done for twenty years or more. I have been calling for movement of the charging port on the mouse for years, as has many other users. It IS a problem having to charge the mouse when not in use.

As designers we don't have time to work our schedule around the need to charge. More often that not, the battery runs out in the middle of a job or project. So it IS a problem to have to stop and charge the mouse in the middle of the project. Marketing is fast paced - pressured, faffing with working around the need to charge slows us down! We have more important things to worry about like deadlines, schedules, client meetings, doing the work etc than to worry about scheduling charging a blooming mouse! We don't need to have to add scheduling a charging time into all our other things we need to do.

Does anyone know if the Magic Keyboards and Trackpads work with AppleTV?

Can anyone see if they have they killed the option to get the magic keyboard with Touch ID in the small versions (Without the numeric keypad). I can only see the wider keyboard with keypad down the side. I appreciate they may still be updating, but all other new USB C Mac accessories are already there?

We have more important things to have to worry about, like exceedingly tight deadlines (ask anyone in the world of marketing), than worrying about whether our mice are charged enough, or to put it onto charge in between working.
Are you telling me that the MM is one of your main work tools and you can't plug it in overnight every two or three weeks? Sorry, but I don't buy it. The MM has a ton of other problems which for me for working with graphics are deal breakers - poor precision and uncomfortable shape. I couldn't use it for more than 2-3 hours a day for these reasons.
