Can anyone see if they have they killed the option to get the magic keyboard with Touch ID in the small versions (Without the numeric keypad). I can only see the wider keyboard with keypad down the side. I appreciate they may still be updating, but all other new USB C Mac accessories are already there?
Looks like you can only get the slim version with an iMac. Looks like only the extended version is sole stand-alone now.

The new iMac comes standard with the compact version. So, it seems like the website hasn't been fully updated.
The compact/slim version looks like it may be an iMac exclusive now. Notice how those are colored to match the iMac (just like they have been since the M1). Maybe Apple didn't sell enough slim stand-alone models to justify keeping it sold by itself. Unless it's a mistake or oversight by Apple. Hopefully it shows up later...

Based on WHAT evidence? Your claim is completely incorrect. I use Macs all day every day and have done for twenty years or more. I have been calling for movement of the charging port on the mouse for years, as has many other users. It IS a problem having to charge the mouse when not in use.

As designers we don't have time to work our schedule around the need to charge. More often that not, the battery runs out in the middle of a job or project. So it IS a problem to have to stop and charge the mouse in the middle of the project. Marketing is fast paced - pressured, faffing with working around the need to charge slows us down! We have more important things to worry about like deadlines, schedules, client meetings, doing the work etc than to worry about scheduling charging a blooming mouse! We don't need to have to add scheduling a charging time into all our other things we need to do.
It warns you a bunch of times before it dies. If you ignore those and it does die, plug it in, get a cup of coffee, come back and it should have enough juice to work until the end of the day. I have to charge mine so infrequently I feel like it lasts months, but IDK. There's definitely no scheduling charging lol. But, if your day is that hectic that you can't handle plugging in the mouse when it starts warning you, you probably shouldn't have anything wireless and also should have standby backups.

Are you telling me that the MM is one of your main work tools and you can't plug it in overnight every two or three weeks? Sorry, but I don't buy it. The MM has a ton of other problems which for me for working with graphics are deal breakers - poor precision and uncomfortable shape. I couldn't use it for more than 2-3 hours a day for these reasons.
That is just your opinion and your experience. Doesn't make you the speaker for everyone else!

I personally have no issue using the other features of the mouse day in day out.

There are plenty of other people on this forum and countless other forums who have been crying out for the port to be moved. So to trash their opinions because you deem the location okay, is misguided and short sighted.

I think they will show up when Apple announces the new Mac Mini ;) Since that won't come with a keyboard, mouse or trackpad.

Yea but why did they release the numeric pad version as a stand-alone then along with the trackpad and mouse. It's either an oversight by Apple or a bad decision...

I think people just don't think about charging their mice at large. I certainly don't - I find myself wondering why my (not magic) mouse stops working every other week, then looking for a cable to charge it. Sort of like forgetting to charge your airpods - it's not at the front of the mind like charging a phone is.

Does Apple not sell the tenkey-less magic keyboard standalone? I don't see it on the site.

I’ve been looking for that too. I like using the version without the number pad or Touch ID with my iPad, but nothing’s showing up for me. The version with the number pad is showing up as a featured accessory on the Mac Accessories page, but when I search for Magic Keyboard only the iPad-specific Magic Keyboards show up, and not the new USB-C ones.

JUST IN:

The usb-c port now is on the right hand side of the mouse, thus chargeable while being used or usable while being charged.

Because the numeric pad version and trackpad are upgrades. And if you pick the trackpad you'll also want to buy a mouse. Meaning they all need to be SKUs on the store.

The people who complain the most about this charging port are the ones who would never buy it anyway.
No, because we've all got Logitech & other mice which you can use while they are charging.

The mouse might run for a couple of weeks between, but you can guarantee that it will run out when you're in the middle of something... so you give it a quick top-up... so it runs out in the middle of the next day... rinse and repeat.

With a logitech - mouse dies, grab cable, plug in and carry on. 3 hours later realise that it is still plugged in and now has a full charge that will last for weeks...

The Tragic Mouse wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't an expensive mouse from a company that has made coffee table art books about how wonderful their designs are...
