Also secret frameworks in the same area as graphics and dev tools.

I'm not sure what I'd prefer for a Night Mode, the colours used in this app or the Watch app, either way, I really hope that add it. It's well overdue.

Maybe the lack of spacing between the S and X for "OSX" is a hint that Apple will indeed transition the naming to macOS (as there's no spacing in 'macOS')?

The pseudo code makes me cringe....

Technically, this temporary titles aren't pseudo code, as each would compile.

You can filter by platform, and OS X is shown as "OS X" in that list.

Screw hardware. There are many other keynotes during the year where Apple introduces hardware anyway.

WWDC is a conference for developers, hence software. I would really like Apple to fix the reliability issues with their software and give us a fantastic version of iOS and OS X for once (dark mode, anyone?).

There won't be OS X and iOS 10 at the same time. Think about the confusion there. I almost think they'll change the numbering scheme to have MacOS 11 just to keep away from confusion with iOS.
I believe they'll apply a dark them only to OLED devices. Meaning 2017 and only 1-2 models of iPhone.
This would be really dumb since the black levels on the iPhone 6 series devices are very good and any third party app can be black if a developer chooses. The first iPhone obviously didn't have the deepest blacks of any iPhone, yet it always had a black wallpaper as the default. They also put dark mode on OS X to begin with when every Mac is LCD.

White backgrounds on backlit LCDs only expose all of the backlight flaws on top of that. Even on an LCD, black or dark just looks better in most cases. iOS 7 is a fine example of how whitewashing everything made screens look worse. I have a 4S on iOS 6 and I never knew it had uneven lighting on top, while it was the first thing in the 6S that I noticed and was annoyed by. It turns out that the 4S I have has far worse backlight bleed, but the software it runs is better at covering it up, making it less of an issue.

I know, I'm talking about the image shared on the front page of this specific rumor.

it would be entirely software based so there wouldn't really be any reason (other than $$$) to limit it to OLED devices, but then again there's live photos...

OS X will become MacOS. They're just using the current product names in the synopsis splash.

I don't think they will change the name anytime soon, there is no reason to change!

OSX, shouldn't that be OS X.

It's a variable, so no spaces allowed.

According to a tweet from Rene Ritchue I don't think we can expect much hardware at WWDC. I can only imagine what this place will be like if it's a software only event.

The timing is right to at least get a new Airport Extreme and a Time Capsule (assuming the TC isn't deprecated). New 802.11ac Wave 2 chipsets have been available for quite some time now and the current AE has been outclassed and is no longer a "top-of-the-line" consumer WiFi router. I'd be very surprised if we don't see an upgrade.

Seems like dark mode is coming!
There's always a little hint of future iOS tweaks in the WWDC app. They don't go *too* far, but there are always hints.

But honestly, renaming to Mac OS or MacOS seems like a regression to me.
I'm afraid it will be even worse and renamed to macOS...

The hint is the new system font :D

Really not a fan of the AppleTV interface. The small-ish white text on the shadow creates poor contrast making the text difficult to read from a distance, even on a 55" screen. Yes, it's a real issue. Not sure how this passes quality testing. They need some seniors involved with the testing. I'm not a senior, but my eyesight ain't great either. My elderly mother constantly has to stand closer to the TV just to make out the text, and that's with the older AppleTV 3.0 interface. The new v4.0 interface is even worse.

I disagree. I think it's time to give the Mac OS / OS X a reboot, and giving it a new name is a great step in that direction. If indeed Apple moves forward with "macOS", then I think we will adapt, and the future will be bright. OS X has served us well for 15 years.

No 3D touch support. Lol... And they want developers to implement same?
How would 3D Touch be applicable to this app at this point in time? Especially considering that most if not all of its content is still "locked" until after the keynote event. I may be wrong, but there are usually video tutorials and other things that can be accessed if you are a registered developer, right? Maybe after the keynote they will push an update that will allow for 3D Touch peeking and popping into tutorial sessions or something of the sort.

The future will be bright due to renaming?.. Oh well...

No need to change the name again, especially into macOS which is ugly and dumb, because the name of the computer is Mac, not mac.

The dark theme on the app makes me hopeful that we will finally see Dark Mode on iOS 10. WWDC can't come soon enough :)

I remember this from a few years ago:

iOS 7 turned out to look not that much like the updated app. So maybe there will be a dark mode, but it will look slightly different. But I would definitely love to see a dark mode!

You can see some minor influences, like that being among the lightest UI's Apple ever put in an iOS 6-style app, but yeah, looking to the WWDC app for any hint toward the future of iOS design isn't a good idea.

Do you think that the WWDC app would accidentally reveal that?
No but they probably wouldn't have included the line of text if they were planing on changing one of the names (that's just my opinion)
