Seems limited so far, but nice. Weather.com extension is nicely implemented. Not a whole lot else I'm interested in so far...

Great news, but we'll have to wait and see. Give it some time. It's only a start so far.

Time for Mozilla's Tab Candy in Safari?

This has been an amazing week for Apple. I'm really happy that we now have Safari Extensions. I hate using those other stupid looking web browsers that seem to never have a "finished" look and don't seem to really integrate with OS X's UI.

Lots of validator errors on Macrumors

Check it out. I guess MR need site redesign after all. :) :apple:

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

I'm a little wary of bloating safari up with lots of extensions, but I'll definitely check out the gallery and see if there are a few promising ones.

Let's hope the YouTube5 extension gets fixed, it's amazing (native Safari HTML5 player for all YouTube videos, embedded or otherwise, INCLUDING the ones with advertisements, unlike the HTML5 beta)

Hmm so this will allow me to recreate that authentic Internet Explorer experience by having a million crappy toolbars taking up nearly all of my browser window! Yay...

Yeah, no kidding. I installed the Twitter extension and then immediately uninstalled it and disabled extensions. Talk about annoying!

I'm really loving "A Cleaner YouTube" combined with Safari Adblock. Thank you!! Here's to Apple spending the rest of the year towards the Mac. :)

How do you actually download them from the gallery? There are no links.

EDIT: Ah, Safari 5.0.1. OK, I get it. :D

So far I've only installed the WOT security extension, just puts a simple button next to the web bar and warns you if a website has a poor reputation. Nothing else I particular want from there.

The Old Google Image Search extension is what caught my eye. I'm also looking forward to ad block and have to keep an eye out for clicktoflash being updated as an extension (hopefully).

You know how I know that you don't know what you're talking about?

I don't think I'll be installing any extensions. I've seen fresh installations of IE and Firefox go straight to performance hell the moment someone installs a toolbar for something or other.

Again, extensions aren't freaking toolbars.

Examples:

Except for the German spellchecker, mine are all about DE-cluttering and performance increases.

Reloading MR even causes beach balls with Safari 5.0.1 and some extensions such as Ad Block. Does not happen with extensions disabled.

It is still not possible to scroll over a youtube video with a MacBook Pro trackpad. Back to Firefox I guess.

I don't have either one of those problems. You have something else going on there.

I don't like how the Twitter extension has been done, as I hate toolbars; hopefully they'll update it with a quick-menu or some keyboard shortcuts some-day.

You can disable javascript, java, and plugins under Security tabs if you'd like. I did it for a while and it was a lot faster and snappier™ ;)

This is great so far. Already installed Adblock which seems to be working great. And for people not wanting toolbar clutter you can just right click on the button and click Remove Item. Still works fine... at least for adblock.

Aww, my extension is not there. I find it useful. For anybody with interest:

FixedWidth

Zooms the page content to the window width and provides window resizing for iPhone and iPad size. Mostly a developer thingy but the automatic resizing is nice for everyone.

Have fun.

They added an "Install Now" blue button a minute ago. It was not there at first. Or maybe it just did not display when I looked under 5.0? At any rate, install 5.01 then look and you will see the install button.

You know how I know that you don't know what you're talking about?

Are you telling me that I can't install separate toolbars for twitter, baseball and lots of other things, like the examples on Apple's extensions gallery page? That makes me feel sad :(

Suppose I might install some adblocking extensions or something but it's just not the same...

IIRC:

http://safariadblock.com/

The developer said that there is a nasty bug in Safari that Apple knows about which can cause random crashes; has that been addressed yet? I'm interested in jumping to 5.0.1 and use some extensions but it is annoying if there are known bugs that haven't been fixed when it comes to extensions.

Can anyone confirm whether that bug has been fixed yet?
