How do I enroll in the program. Online it doesn't let you, so do I have to wait until the preorder begins tonight? Or do I have to go in the store and enroll there. thanks

Hi, I called Apple up earlier today.

You preorder as normal and take your details etc with you on the date and time that you have chosen to collect your new phone.

Hope that helps

Dave

Online "doesn't let" you because it's not midnight, whatever yet. All that opens up tonight. Then you pick the phone, and reserve a slot (date/time) to pick up the phone at your local store. I did this last year, took about 15 minutes in the store (other people weren't so lucky...).

Can someone remind me what the process for reserving is?

Will there be a separate link to reserve or do I have to add to basket first and checkout?

Thanks

If you're new to the program it will just show up as one of the payment options when you check out.

Brilliant! Thanks

What is you opinion on apple care? Worth getting? I've never had it before because my home insurance covers accidental damage.

Well if you join the AUP you don't have a choice. AC+ is part of the payment you make every month. I used to get it anyway before I got AUP so I felt it was worth it. Good protection in case anything goes wrong.

Oh sorry. Forgot it was opening up in the UK. I only know about how it works in the US.

its seems like a really good deal considering its decoupled from apple care and also 0% interest over 20 months. No real reason to buy the phone outright anymore.

Especially if you plan on getting a new phone every year.

According to Apples site, you can do it all online and don't have to go to store.

Personally I never buy Apple Care. Remember that it is insurance and the reason Apple offers it is because it is profitable to them. I'm in a situation where if I have to repair my phone I will recover from the financial blow. I always skip insurance on electronics I buy because I know in the long run it will save me money even if I have to pony up for a repair here or there.

Car insurance and home owners insurance are different because those could financially ruin me. I avoid extended warranties on my cars but I have fantastic coverage for covering someone else if they get hurt or their expensive car gets totaled.

I'm also pretty responsible with my devices and treat them carefully than the average Joe which increases my odds even more.

What I don't understand is why they can't see if I qualify ahead of time. Like run my credit etc. I have to wait till tonight. I would rather the credit check and all that done and out of the way now. So I can select AUP as an option and blow through the process.

I don't think that there will be a credit check online. I believe you're just reserving the phone and time to go in store and have them do the credit check there. At least that's what I did last year.

To make sure my ducks were in a row, I checked my online eligibility for upgrading under the program. It tells me my iPhone is not a part of the iPhone Upgrade Program. Then what the hell did I stand in line and pay $40.75 for every month, as a payment to "iPhone Citizen" on my statements? I called Apple and they said that my phone can't be upgraded. I explained how last autumn I had the overheating home button issue and was sent an new iPhone. She said they couldn't do anything and now I'm on hold with AppleCare instead to sort things out. So if you ever had your device replaced while on the upgrade program, there's a chance you won't be eligible. Make sure you check your eligibility before the craziness tonight and get it sorted! I'm hoping that AppleCare will be able to help me because I'm making monthly payments and don't have any of the benefits at the moment. This is ridiculous. At least the lady earlier said that I can do everything online this year. She said there will be an option at checkout to send a shipping label to return my old iPhone.

Why can we not do it under T-Mobile is my question..

Does it ask for a phone number for verification on AT&T? Because if not, I would much rather do that.

Wow that's BS if they don't let you upgrade! Try going up the chain of command until they make you eligible. I hope that rep is right about not having to go in store but read a previous post that showed a citizen rep saying we had to go in store on a Twitter response.

What happened? Did you get it sorted out. I am in the same boat as my iPhone was replaced under apple care.

Same issue, spent four hours on phone with apple today, like 12 different reps, they couldn't figure it out for me.

Thats not the Upgrade program, just financing. But not really a difference in the end I think.
I understand it's not an upgrade, the text clearly states that. Just saying I've seen people on here deny its existence for some reason.
