Are you kidding? I saw they changed the plans and immediately went from 15GB to a higher one because I could never back up my iphone on the 15GB.
But I didnt get any email about being grandfathered in or any refunds or anything.
WTF?

I have the 15 GB plan and haven't heard anything from Apple yet either. And I didn't touch anything so either us 15ers fell through the cracks or they haven't reached out to everyone yet.

hmmm - maybe you are on to something. We didnt pay enough to get noticed. ;)

I have 2 accounts and one has been upgraded so far. Don't worry much though. They moved me from 15to 20GB and the price is $1 cheaper. $10.99 vs $11.99

So you are only out $1

I'm still waiting to see how Apple will handle the iPhoto/Aperature to iCloud Photos migration on OS X Yosemite before I upgrade my iCloud storage plan.

I think you have your answer. Looks like your iCloud photo library is going to count against your total now. But it also looks like that will take your iDevice backups way down. So, if I am looking at this correctly, both of my iDevices, which were multiple GBs each before are now down below 1GB each. I attribute this to the fact that they have removed the photos from each of my iDevice backups.

Sweet! I just got my email from Apple. I almost changed it myself earlier today too. Good thing I didn't cause I'm sure I would have missed out on the lower cost.

I got my email, too. 25GB for $12 a year. Indefinite renewals at that price as long as I don't change it. Kind of makes me wish I had upgraded yesterday to a higher plan....

My question is, does iCloud drive allow streaming? If I have a video in iCloud drive, do I have to download it to the device before it will play? That's the one thing that keeps me coming back to Dropbox...well, streaming and the significantly cheaper cost for a TB of storage.

iTunes Match

iTunes Match is still stuck at 25,000 max. No upgrade possible.

My library is now bigger than that and iTunes won't even think about it.

Amazon's is TEN TIMES bigger (250,000) for the same price.

Damn it.. I just upgraded my 50GB plan ($100/yr) to the 200GB for $4/mo earlier today....

Why do I get the feeling I'd have ended up with the 500GB or 1TB for the same amount?

ARGH!!!!

I think that each Apple device that you purchase should come with a certain amount of iCloud storage (on a per-device basis.) Doesn't make sense that a person who owns one iPod and a person who owns 5 devices would have to use the same amount of storage or that you would get panelized for spending more on hardware by having to buy more storage. After all, a lot of the storage goes towards backups for the devices. It would also be a nice perk towards those of us who buy higher capacity iDevices to get more iCloud storage, since they're paying a premium for space. I'm not one of them but what's fair is fair.

Not gonna happen but one can dream:)

Completely agree with you, I can't believe apple are still not doing this.

A "genius" once told me to "create a new iCloud account for every decide, as you get free storage with every account" - kind of contradicts the whole continuity idea though as you'll then also have a different iMessage/FaceTime/email/etc. account for every device!

Nice, I just received this email:

We recently announced new, more affordable iCloud storage plans. As a thank you for being a current iCloud storage plan subscriber, we’ve increased your storage plan and you will be receiving a refund based on the reduced plan price.
Your plan has been upgraded from 15 GB of total storage at $21.00 a year to 20 GB at just $13.99 a year. You will receive a prorated refund of $0.50, which is based on the price reduction and the remaining months on your subscription. On October 5, 2014 this 20 GB plan will automatically renew and you will be charged $13.99.
We increased the amount of storage in our new plans so you can get the most out of our new features like iCloud Drive, which lets you store and access any type of file from all your devices. All edits you make are automatically updated, which means you’ll always have access to the latest version of all your documents.
If you need more storage, you can choose a different plan from iCloud Settings at any time, right from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC. Learn more about iCloud storage pricing >
The iCloud Team
NOTE: This annually priced storage plan is only available to current iCloud storage plan subscribers. You may cancel or downgrade from your device at any time. If you choose to change to one of our new plans, you won’t be able to switch back to this annual plan. You can contact Apple for a refund within 15 days of an upgrade. Partial refunds are available where required by law.

Nice. Thanks for the photo! It's good to see individual device iCloud storage go down, but for me, I'm guessing the net usage of iCloud will still go up because I always clean out my Camera Roll once Photostream imports to iPhoto on OS X.

However, my iPhoto library on my Mac is over 25GB with videos included. I'm assuming once Apple releases the iCloud Photos for Yosemite next year that they will have some sort of migration system in place that will upload my entire iPhoto library to iCloud, like what iTunes Match did with my music library.

Am I missing something? Shouldn't you be charged around $11.99 a year ($0.99 a month) rather than $13.99 a year?

Maybe a stupid question, but what about family share in IOS 8, does it also include ICloud Drive?

Really happy about this. I got a refund for a few bucks. They did the right thing.

Also, iCloud Drive's definitely going to be a nice alternative to dropbox and the like as it will keep it in the ecosystem. Looking forward to it and hoping it works smoothly out the gate!

Sweet but what happen when you sell your device and buy a new one? You expect the iCould storage to just snowball? Photos/videos/documents are accessible across all devices while apps/music/movies don't use your free storage.

I already changed from the old 15GB plan to the new 20GB plan earlier today. I hope I get included in this.

No, that wouldn't work. If you had done _nothing_ then you would have kept 15GB at a lower price. Since you had a 15GB yearly payment contract, they can't or don't want to just take that contract away. But you picked a different contract.

Was actually just about to review my plan because it expires at the end of the month, but got the email. WOO for a $1.55 refund lol.

Nice move, though in this day they really should just give everyone at LEAST a 20GB free minimum...

Considering I just used a reward iTunes card for more storage, it didn't bother me all that much. Also glad I waited unlike the other guy in the form. Sometimes it's just best to delay things. :)

I'm confused. One article says 'per year' and another says 'per month'. $40 per year to $11.99 is a deal, but the article below this one says that's a 'per month' charge.

I feel vindicated for not using the iCloud Backup plans and keeping the 'free' 5G plan, and not using it for anything...

hmm, maybe I jumped the gun. I had the 25gb plan renewed a couple of months ago. As soon as the $3.99/mo for 200gb became available I switched to it since I was hovering at 23gb used assuming I would be credited for my balance But now I already see a $3.99 pending charge on my CC and received no email yet... I'll give it a couple of days and see what happens.
