So excited to get this. Only two more days to wait. I actually think of much smaller battery pack would be a great accessory. Something that gets you through a workout or a brief time away from an outlet. Super comfortable to carry in pocket. That would allow you to take quick trips away from an outlet without the stock battery pack. I'm sure there's lots of accessories to come :)
A workout? That’s uh….a terrible idea

Yeah how are Apple going to get away with this with the EU? Really hope future Vision Pros use type c on the device itself. Is there any reason why it’s yet another stupid proprietary connector?

It has a higher than typical power requirement, but I find it difficult to believe this couldn’t have been handled with e-marker. Nintendo manages it with the Switch dock using all USB-C (Switch won’t work in docked mode using a 3rd party power supply).

The bigger concern over the proprietary headset connection is that the cable can’t be replaced independently of the battery.

There could be a hotswappable battery by a third party some day. Until then, why not take a one minute break every 2 1/2 hours? Doesn‘t sound too terrible to me.

Doesn’t the type c standard support up to 200w these days?

Yes. What will you do when the battery gets pulled out.

This question is coming from complete ignorance of batteries.....will we be able to trickle charge the Vision Pro battery with an iPhone 15 Pro?

Sure, but this is Apple. I think my point is that they probably want to make sure that only their OEM battery pack is used. It could have been achieved over USB-C but they chose not to do so.

In any case it’s a bad design choice. If the cable gets damaged then the whole thing is basically landfill. Also you can’t use a longer cable.

I still don’t see how they’re going to get away with it in the EU though. Maybe that’s another reason it hasn’t come out there yet, perhaps a type c model is coming

B: The cable can't be disconnected, so if you damage the cable the whole thing needs replacing. Horrible design choice. The fixed cable also asks for more strain on the fixed end when packing it away, further reducing its life expectancy.

I could be wrong, but videos I’ve seen make it appear like the cable can be disconnected from the battery pack, but it requires a tool that isn’t included.

Yeah I commented on this earlier. EU are gonna have a stroke when they see this. That’s assuming they ever get it. Personally I think AVP is a commercial depth charge already on its way down, but that’s an unpopular opinion so I won’t labor the point 👍

Airline limitations for battery size is 27,000 mAh, so an individual battery cannot be larger than that and go on a plane. Some analysis I was looking at the other day pegged the battery pack at around 20,000 mAh based on the size and weight. So while it's possible that they could have eeked out another 30-60 minutes of battery life, it was never going to be hours and hours more than it is.

Bear in mind, it's running two separate 4K-level displays that are always on while you're wearing it, CPU, GPU, a ton of sensors, cameras that are always on and running, that outside screen (I'd grant, that thing should be able to be turned off to extend battery life), etc.
