I remember when the AW1 came out and how nobody was wearing it. I wasn’t wearing it bc my old Fitbit pulse stick was just great for counting steps.
A decade later I see Apple Watch everywhere, almost alarmingly so, and I use it myself since v4, which basically turned it from unusable to the product we have today.

If Apple doesn’t AirMax the AVP this is probably what will happen with the glasses - first iteration for the hardcore Apple fans and developers and ready for a wider market four or five years later (after massive technological advances) to a nice chunk of wide adoption in a decade (while the product itself only improves marginally at that point).

And just as AW has found its niche as a sport/health device (and still ignores much of its potential for other uses), so will the glasses down the road. It’s a great product waiting to evolve and grow.

Ooooooor the go the AirMax route and it a great idea will shrivel to death in the open sun. Let’s see.

Can’t speak for everybody but the Apple glass will be more appealing if Apple does it

I'm still dubious of the VR headset business taking off anytime soon. Though Apple and Meta are throwing millions (billions?) of dollars into it, so I guess they will try their darndest to make it work.

It will take a generation or two to probably get a chance at making it mainstream. Just speaking for myself, I didn't get an iPhone until the iPhone 6/6+ came out. Didn't get an iPad until the 3rd generation. And didn't purchase an Apple Watch until the 5th generation (which I still own and wear to this day).

So we shall see.

The Apple Watch grew in popularity over time, but was also affordable from launch and is still affordable now. Can you imagine Apple releasing an Apple Vision device for £400? It will never happen in my view, I am sure it will be cheaper at some point, but never at a price point that makes it appealing to a wider audience. They aren't going to tempt people to 'give-it-a-go' when its hitting an £800 to £4000 price range.

Another issue is it a more intrusive device than an Apple Watch as you have to wear it on your face and over your eyes. Do you think the same amount of people who wear Apple watches now, would be fine with a headset device too? It is a niche device for so many reasons and the sooner people realise this, the sooner the positive things about the Vision Pro can be focused on for the type of market it will eventually appeal to IMO.
