I’m guessing most people who are whining and making fun of the AVP has either:

A) never tried one

And/or

B) can’t afford one

I bought one a couple weeks ago and it’s by far the coolest device i’ve ever bought.

Yes, it’s stupid expensive.

Yes, l have a girlfriend.

Yes, we watch a lot of movies/shows together.

I also watch some movies and shows alone.

The massive screen is insanely cool, and 3D movies are just crazy.

Using it connected to my mac when working is amazing.

Zero regrets.

This. 100% this. I bought the M2 on launch and sold it for the M5 when it launched. The most amazing tech device I've ever used and I've bought tons of devices over the years. It's an early adopter device and a development platform for Vision OS and future AR glasses that will run some version of it. The steady progression of improvement of Visions OS is quite impressive. And momentum is building. Slowly. But nevertheless building.

"Even more expensive" MacRumors is becoming more clickbaitish every day. A $200 price increase due to RAM does not merit a scare headline that just repeats the same information that was published in two other posts.

"Apple Vision Pro just got even more expensive."

😳 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh geez. Tim Cook really picked a great time to step down as CEO. What a frickin mess.

Stating the obvious, but such a product that has no defined purpose, or problem its solving now just got more expensive at a time where people are dealing with less and less discretionary cash

Defined purposes:
1. A luxury item empowering me to watch movies while on an airplane fight as if I were in the front row of the balcony of an IMAX theater.
2. A luxury item empowering me to have multiple large screens available when I travel only with my MacBook Pro.
3. Item engrossing me with the unique three-dimensional capabilities.

For some reason, people can’t understand that there are some of us who don’t mind spending $4000 or $5000 for a wonderful fun objec. some people drop a lot of money for sports car others don’t. Different strokes were different folks.

I'd say the opposite, to be honest. It's a niche item. People are not quibbling about sticker price at this level, or, if they are, it's only to have something to talk about. It's not going to make them flip from buying to not buying, and vice versa.

If someone chose to buy one at $3,499, they are very likely to buy at $3,699.

If they wouldn't buy at $3,699, it's very unlikely they would buy at $3,499.

For an item like this, people have already accepted they are paying silly money. I think they could raise the price to $3,999, and current sales numbers wouldn't change significantly.
This is the reality of the “ k-shaped economy “

A lot of people have more money than they know what to do with. And a lot of other people have less money they need to get by. And so e people are just somehow still treading water in the middle.

There are electronic gadgets for all three market segments

Sound like your family and friends need to pony up $4K or stick with a crappy movie experience. I’m buying another one for my wife to join me in the theater. 😀 And looking to have my friend buy one too so he can join our theater from his house. Or we can join his. 😀

And that’s JUST the movie experience.

And listen, I’m not trying to sell this to anyone. I’m not getting paid for AVP sales. People can sit around complaining all they want and pretending it sucks to make themselves feel better. The facts are, the VAST majority of people that own the AVP, absolutely love it.
All 5 of them!!
