sounds like you’re pretty interested
Well, no, I’m just reacting on the current hype on Apple’s latest attempt at a new product. Is it ok to dismiss it?
and if you’re actually not, you’ll be interested very soon
I can’t see a use-case for it in my immediate future, but others may do so.
I think some people are making themselves hate/dislike the device for some odd reason. even after its fairly impressive reveal…
Some odd reason? If people aren’t going to see a use for wearing oversized goggles, then how else do you expect them to react?

Good. One less person in line when I buy mine. Unless you get suddenly excited by it as your confusing comment alludes.
No need to get defensive. It’s only a tech product. Some will use it, others won’t.

I have no use for an Apple Watch nor Mac either.

We don’t all have to be all-in with the ecosystem….

I’m excited for this one. The possibilities are endless. Imagine being able to watch a sports game as if you were seating on the front row or from a players peripheral vision. Right from the comfort of where the heck you like to sit at home.

But that price tag….gonna have to start putting aside $5 a day.

I read on another site it will be preorder in store only with an appointment for a fitting. Also only major cities like new York and LA will more than likely be first. Not sure what the logic is here but it’s not going to be easy to get one

I assume the main reason Apple is launching in US only first is that they know that nobody will want to buy it once that price tag goes through exchange rates.

(I don't even want to know what the launch price in Canada will be...)

Just a hunch, but given the price it might initially get a luxury store-like experience to showcase it and increase the "wow" factor (a bit like they did with the Watch at first).

I can see some uses for me personally but need to try the thing before I am sure. It is gonna be hard in east central Illinois to find a close major store to test it first. I am near sighted so some say they think such folks can use without lenses (that remains to be seen so need to test). So will they have general lenses like they did at the developers conference that people can test before deciding?

And the price (not even considering the lenses if I need them) is a barrier for me. So perhaps once it is out early 2024 by end of or into 2025 I can go to the Indianapolis Apple Store (one of few larger towns I do not mind visiting just under 2 hours away) to try it.

Yep and if that is case then count me out. I am not buying without a session to try one to determine if my initial ideas would make this useful to me for such a large expense. We shall see, maybe I will be waiting past 2025 and see how this all falls out. In mean time suffer on my old apple tech (see tag below ) LOL

Apple really knows how to keep the marketing momentum going by leaking small details slowly leading up to launch. That keeps customers like me excited and saving money for the launch. I have a love/hate relationship with Apple LOL.

This seems odd to me. End of 2024 one would expect a new version of the product, no? Why would a buy a product with this price point about a year and a half after it was announced? Old tech by then.

By the time this comes out, the buzz surrounding it will be long gone. People have the attention span of a "swipe" nowadays

When did Apple announce they were going Silicon? June, 2020
When did the first Mac with Silicon become available to purchase by the public? April 20, 2021, almost a full year later.
When did all Macs finally go Silicon to complete the transition? June 12, 2023 (about 4 years later).

If that's what Apple losing buzz looks like, I suspect they will be just fine.

They’ll sell online just like with every other new release. They like selling out quickly. Selling them only in major cities on launch day would 100% piss off buyers.

Why did I think the first MBP came out only 3 months later. What is time

The 13-inch MBP, MBA and Mac Mini launched with M1 in November 2020, so 5 months after the AS announcement.

Still wondering, why did they place the power cord connection on the left hand side instead of in the middle of the back?
There’s a scene where a woman lies down with it on. You wouldn’t be able to do that if the power chord were in the back (at least not for more than 2 hours max).

I have a Quest 2 with a Kiwi headband and I can’t lie down because the counterweight is in the back.

So it’s a very good thing the charging port is on the side.

I think the price will increase for the next version just like their other products

This isn’t any different than the Apple Watch (and I believe iPad not sure).

Apple Watch was announced alongside the new iPhone that year. But went for sale in the Spring about 8 months later.

And it took until the end of that same year for it to launch in more international countries.

So some people couldn’t buy one more than a year after announcement. It’s pretty normal especially for a new platform (hence why they announced it at WWDC to get devs on board).

Question:

If I want to try one, can I just go in and wait in line or do I have to make an appointment?

Cuz if it was in the back, and you would lie your head on the couch/chair/bed, a metal kind-of-button would be quite uncomfortable.
Also, the connector on the side it's easier to reach, also for people with disabilities.
