The article is a stretch. The Reddit thread is old and has few replies. I’m an owner and on Reddit and glowing comments are more prevalent. I do get strain sometimes after using it for hours but it resolves after taking breaks.

The eye strain and headaches are caused from having 5G radiation so close to your head and eyes. I can't see it being good to use long term and one of the reason I won't let my child get a VR set. Who knows what kind of damage your doing to your DNA cells. I know I sound a litte paranoid, but I'm being cautious. Nobody knows the long term effects yet.
HUH???? 5G radiation from where? And what is a "DNA cell"?

Oh boy do I want to respond…. Soooo many things to unpack on those comments, and it sounds a bit like the opening scene to Prometheus at Dettifoss with cells and chromosomes splitting apart.

Navin R. Johnson ran into some issues with his glasses after release, too...

but Apple used to wait with a new product until they are actually ready. For instance, I don’t think „old„ Apple would have released a device that weights more than a competitor out of principle. Another indicator of being rushed is releasing improved personas only after a 3rd (?) update. You would think they’d release it out of the gate with it instead of having people making fun of how bad it looks the first month after launch
The first iPad didn’t have a front facing camera. But the Vision Pro isn’t ready for release? Please.

Exactly.
The exact same thing refers to the first version of the world’s best selling phone.
The exact same thing refers to the first version of the worlds best selling watch.

Neither were anything like what we have now.

Some people bruise more easily than others. Certain medical conditions can cause easy bruising of skin. Other folks probably have stronger neck muscles than others and don’t get neck strain from using the device. As a motorcycle rider, i can tell you that having to hold your head upright against a 70 mph wind will definitely make your neck stronger.
And then you have those people who ride rollercoasters and other fast rides. And Xtreme Sports?
I wonder what kind of effect could have on their necks those sudden sharp movements. But they don’t seem to mind or care.

as someone with a lot of neck pain this thing actually relieves it for me cus i can put the screens i’m looking at wherever and not tilt my head in uncomfortable ways when reclining on my couch
While it will relieve you as long as you use it to view videos, fully agree with that. But if you want to work with it in order to improve your productivity, I'm afraid you won't be that comfortable.

I warned that the devices will burn the retina to ashes. The fact that the eyes are turning black says it all and validates this.

face pressure is definitely more of a concern than neck pain. the device isn't that heavy. it just poorly distributed. I mean I do a full cardio workout with my Quest but its weight is well distributed and it's face pads are far more comfortable.

This statement is completely illogical. Can you explain why watching a video is comfortable but doing other tasks is uncomfortable?

So far, those who want it to die are the ones who can't afford it and just watch from the distance with envy.
Maybe not even envy, they just never got over Apple ending the LaserWriter (or AirPort Base Stations, or iPod non-Touch’s) and they expect Apple’s doom is coming any day now… then they’ll be able to say that’s the straw that broke the camels back and they should have kept making them.

There’s a feedback loop going on… the first thread is old with few replies, that this story points to, and now there’s a new thread that points to this thread which refers back to the original thread. And I’m sure this new thread will likely be crossposted :)

As he mentioned, he feels that could be more comfortable watching videos on the couch with APV because he can rest his head on the sofa. While working, you're sitting on a chair holding all the weight of the device on your head. This strains the neck, even if it's not extremely heavy

I've sat in a chair using AVP for hours without any discomfort. Look at this nonsensical and inflammatory article. 3 people made up stories about headaches, black eyes, etc. Pure garbage. I don't believe a word of it.

The "Apple is doomed!" refrain has been echoed practically every year like clockwork since roughly 1996, usually by otherwise seemingly credible sources; it's the modern equivalent of the boy who cried wolf.

And yet, they are still with us. Huh. Makes you think, doesn't it?
