but Apple used to wait with a new product until they are actually ready. For instance, I don’t think „old„ Apple would have released a device that weights more than a competitor out of principle. Another indicator of being rushed is releasing improved personas only after a 3rd (?) update. You would think they’d release it out of the gate with it instead of having people making fun of how bad it looks the first month after launch

If this was true, then Apple wouldn’t have developed a in-store method for updating phones without opening the boxes.

Sometimes you have to let people see it before deciding what needs improving.

Otherwise, you don’t know exactly what you’re aiming for … and then you have an Apple Car.

This thing is just a car crash. Apple should just discontinue it and pretend it never existed. It’s just yet another failure by Tim Cook, the least imaginative CEO on existence.

V-Pro user: "Today I ran into a glass door. Accidently knocked out 1 tooth. Hey, it was actually pretty comfortable! Who would have known!?"

Nothing says work and entertainment spatial computing device like please take it off every 20-30 minutes. Super productive.
I take stand and eye breaks about every 30 minutes. My break might only be a minute but that’s something.

Sometimes I might go an hour if I’m right in the middle of something, but it’s healthy to get up and look away from computer screens regularly.

Nup and Nup. A CEO runs a company and he turned it from a mediocre level tech company to the world’s most valuable. I think Apple have a far bigger grip on the reality of the headset than the boring detractors with no imagination themselves and nothing original to say. Ho hum…

I knew the Vision Pro would be uncomfortable because the AirPods Max are so uncomfortable. Apple doesn’t do ergonomics very well

We should’ve know from their mice

Notches in laptops, deleting the most popular colors, punching grotesque slots into cellphones, launching a health hazard VR headset that almost no one can afford. The fact that Cook was lauding AVP as the second coming of Steve Jobs shortly after launch indicates to me that Apple is lost at sea.
All of this is soooo true. In the eternal design struggle between form and function, Apple has made certain to rule on the side of form every.single.time in recent years, and it shows. So adding a bit more weight to the AVP with a front facing screen and its supporting structures just so you could make it look like a person inside was probably a no-brainer for them.

EDIT: correcting my iPad’s “magical” auto-correct.

I have to agree. I can’t use the MacBook Air on my lap wearing shorts. Too cold. But it’s better than wearing fireproof pants with the Intel machines. Get a grip. AirPods Max are some of the best headphones out there for Everyday use. Have you even worn them?

Cook was handed a golden egg laying goose. He raised the company valuation by squeezing out every drop of blood from loyal customers by delivering marginal products with marginal quality. Jobs created revolutionary products and Cook drove those into the ground. How long it has taken Cook to do so is a testament to how good they were, not his business management skills. Honestly, Kay Whitmore could have accomplished the same or more.

Cook was the Golden Goose. What he did, no one else did. You might throw names out there but Jobs chose him and that is the reason Apple are so big. Anyone could have done it apparently, except they didn't. Have you heard of the Apple Watch and Fitness+? Just wondering. 🤔. Apple Watch has literally saved lives. No iPod did that. Cook haters are so boring.

I’m continually amazed at the amount of vitriol this product creates within the tech community and abroad. It’s been nice to see most of it die down post-launch.

It’s just a computer.
That’s what happens when a corporate marketing team hypes a product endlessly and it doesn’t live up to the hype.

The launch was a national media frenzy. It shouldn’t be surprising.

Most people on these forums haven’t used or tried the products they complain about.

I’d argue that the product was distinctly under-marketed, but agree that the launch was a disaster. Specifically choosing to unveil it at WWDC instead of a few months pre launch. Big reason was to get developers on board, but 5 minutes on the visionOS App Store will tell you that wasn’t the right move.

The responses here…

You know, we have a section of this forum for people who actually use and own an AVP.

Headline grabbing outliers are not the norm, and if people haven’t figured out how the new media models work (clicks), I don’t know what to tell you people.

Let me get this straight... the Oculus, Vive, PS VR, HoloLens, etc.. all these products on the market and this is the first time someone gets a sore neck from wearing one too long? If I buy new running shoes and go run for the first time... for miles and miles... I guess I get to complain that the shoes made my legs sore. And black eyes? Seriously? Very curious if those reporting really understand biology. That, or they tightened the head strap with a wench on a set too small for their face. So tired of the wining. I bought coffee and it was hot! I bought a toaster and you know what.. it burned me when I touched the metal inside after making toast. I'm losing faith in humanity one product at a time lol

Ask @zachcsnyder for a detailed review of the AirPods Max. I was agreeing with his opinion on Apple’s ergonomics.

Since you want to discuss other products quoted/mentioned in my post, I take it you want to tell us how great the Magic Mouse is, how great it feels in your hand, and how convenient the bottom charging port that prevents use while charging is. How a mouse shaped to your hand with physical buttons would totally suck.

Or perhaps tell us how an iPhone that has a small bezel on top for camera/sensors instead of a hole cut in the screen would be so awful that you would rather buy an Android instead. How iPhone sales would have tanked without a hole in the screen.

Or explain how the addition of extra weight on the AVP just to show someone’s eyes in front is an absolute must-have, and the AVP would simply not sell without it.

These are a few examples of form winning over function that did not need to be so. You know, the ACTUAL point of my post.

If it were a huge flop no one would still be talking about it. How are your google glasses going?
It is the most successful flop, then. /s
Google glass was launched in 2014 and pulled in 2015. Apple will not admit to failure so it will be silently pulled in 2027 after burning $5 billion, perhaps? :)
Of course, there will be hundreds of articles until then where some random guy in some remote part of the country will hail it as a godsend for some obscure application in some industrial field. But nobody will bother.

I have had a Vision Pro and have been using it for weeks. While I do not doubt that some people have issues, I do not have serious problems headaches etc. using it. I susoect that a large random sample of users would not reflect the collection of opinions of the the posts here.
