How much were they paid to say these things?
They didn't go wrong. It's the price of the tech. Getting it out there will only bring economies of scale and a price reduction. It wouldn't have delivered an Apple experience otherwise.I’m not against the headset at all. I think Apple did an amazing job with the groundbreaking technology. You can tell they put a lot of research into it. They went wrong pricing it at $3,499.
I can also assure you he wouldn’t have approved the external connecting battery pack, especially with a 2 hours of battery life. You can't even finish a Disney movie with that.Steve jobs wouldn’t have touched this thing with a long stick, let alone approve it or present it.
I think it solves an obvious problem. Limited screen real estate. Especially when traveling.iPod solved a problem - this thing really doesn't along with all the other AR/MR/VR tech out there (its been out there for years).
wym, It is true , that's the best headset you can findHow much were they paid to say these things?
He would need to buy the additional lens inserts. No spectacles allowed!
They need to make a giant clunky headset that is way to expensive to be mainstream, before just making their AR/VR glasses...? That makes no sense. They should have waited for the glasses and launched that, not this. Keep this internal or for a very small amount of external companies to make apps and test. The word of mouth and youtube videos will generate enough hype.To everyone complaining about the price, or the utility as a stand alone product in 2023…. Is it THAT hard to understand this is not the end goal? They don’t care if they sell 100k of them and nothing more. They need the real world usage to drive future innovation and they need mass production of new parts to drive down prices for… the future.
It’s been everywhere for years that they want to make AR glasses - the real killer device everyone will want. They have to do this first and they’re the only company in the world willing to roll out a niche product first in order to get there.
It’s really not hard logic.
iJustine: “I’m actually speechless [pause] …no, just kidding.” 🤣iJustine, only review that matters. The technical depth she goes to is unmatched.
How about Apple Vision Pro Mini?I'll pass on the first gen due to cost, but second gen and I'm there!
I remember there being stories about a second, cheaper, headset being developed alongside the first one.
Wouldn't it be cool if, when Apple do their introduction event for the Vision Pro, they announce another "One more thing" - and show off the cheaper Apple Vision @ $2499 alongside the Vision Pro @ $3499.
I think he would love that dangling cable. LOLSteve Jobs would have worn the freaky thing live, right before our eyes to show how amazingly simple and intuitive it is.
That’s a behaviour Tim Cook has never displayed on stage. Unfortunately.
I can also assure you he wouldn’t have approved the external connecting battery pack, especially with a 2 hours of battery life. You can't even finish a Disney movie with that.
Unfair comment... You can say it is priced too high whilst being willing to buy it! For example, I will buy it at $3499. I just wonder how much more they would sell at $2999... But yes, before you say it, I am sure they have researched this price-point. But just because some said that, don't assume they can't afford it. Perhaps their thinking is less parochial than you assume. If you can't afford it just say that, no need to be constantly complaining.
Knowing how long they’ve been working on it. He might’ve commissioned the product.
This is a entertainment product. This aint no different than playing a video game or watching a movie, this is entertainment with extra capabilities that will only improve as time goes onBut it's still looking for a problem to solve...cool tech, niche product.
There was talk of Jobs leaving a roadmap of sorts for Tim to follow. So who knows... maybe this type of product was on that roadmap?Knowing how long they’ve been working on it. He might’ve commissioned the product.
If you want it to replace all this - you better start training your neck-muscles ...If this can replace, or indeed better my TV and Mac + monitor set-up, then I am in. I had no interest in this until I saw the demo. It could be a game-changer. I bought the first iPhone, and now I am very tempted by this.
Everything has a compromise. As amazing as Tony's setup was — it was also not immersive, nor mobile — so you were tied to a square light table. Tony's experience was designed for the 3rd person viewer, not the user.I don't think we're anywhere close to this. I want intuitive gestures without having to put on a big a** headset.
