Apple VP Behind Activity Rings Retiring After Misconduct Claims

Corporations always protect bullies, like the justice system protects the government. The employee and the civilian always find itself in a disadvantaged position.

Those dozen people who spoke up against a bully, are very brave.

I agree. Get rid of him. And the women should take him to court.

It’s kind of sad that “to spend time with family” is now a euphemism for misconduct or incompetence.

In our small school district the hs principal is changing jobs to be principal of one of the 3 elementary schools.

It actually is because he has two young kids and elementary principal is less demanding of a job. He is replacing a principal who is moving to the district office to take over the job our new superintendent was promoted out of.

Being an elementary principal allows more time with his kids (at a lower salary though), mostly after 3:30pm. But it immediately makes people question the whole move because so many executives and government officials say “time with family” as a selfless out (lie).

“Toxic” is a modern term for cutthroat, an environment that has led to many major innovations and breakthroughs throughout time.

Working for Thomas Edison was said to be the same way. And he was very good at taking credit for the work of his employees and rivals.

No, it's not. They can be synonyms, but not necessarily. Cutthroat means getting ahead at all costs, including the wellbeing of those around you.

Toxic just means you make it a difficult, uncomfortable (sexually harassing, etc.) or mentally unhealthy place to work. it doesn't mean they are trying to get ahead at your expense, just that's it's a crappy work environment. I had a toxic boss at a job several years ago, and they didn't care about the department or it's financials..they just liked to demean people.. and eventually got fired for it, after several employees went (well) above their head and explained what was going on.....No special compensation, and no "leaving to spend time with family"..escorted out by security in the middle of the work day and banned from the premises

Regardless, this isn't 1900 and what was okay then, isn't today (or shouldn't be). I wouldn't be looking to Thomas Edison for my inspiration, nor would I work for a company that was cutthroat, or toxic.

Sexual harasser gets to retire, Blevinator was fired after one movie quote in a car show. How the times and culture has changed. Woke was just a facade at Apple.
 
My Apple Watch doesn’t even notice when I’ve been jumping rope for an hour! This I don’t believe it could really measure anything with any accuracy.

The way I read/interpret the article stating "He also spoke about the rear ends and breasts of trainers who were filming workouts, some of the other people who worked on the team said" doesn't immediately come across as wrongful. They were filming workouts...of trainers...for a video service. For all we know he simply said any of the following:

  • "her boobs are too big and that will be distracting, let's get a different woman for this portion of the video"
  • "her boobs are too big and that will be distracting, let's get her a better outfit"
  • "her butt doesn't look as well defined as we want and in this particular workout, customers won't feel confident"

I mean, seriously, who knows what he said and to who and the guy is immediately deemed evil and shameless. He's the VP of Fitness Technologies...geee...ya think maybe he has SOME CLUE of what fitness is all about, what customers/viewers want, etc! Go read his Wikipedia page about his extensive fitness career.

If he said some mean or cringe worthy comments to Apple employees about Apple employees around the office or at lunch or a Zoom, sure, he shouldn't be saying those things.

I would be willing to bet the only authentic issue is that he created a "hostile work environment" and that could mean a lot of things...I've seen and been apart of a few in my 40+ year career. It sucks. And people quit or wait for the company to solve it. That's life. You don't always like/love your boss or management chain.

This kind of “he said she said” can be extremely fickle from a legal standpoint. Usually it’s best to let someone take retirement or move them to a position that would have them likely quit.

(1) "Crimes" are inapplicable here. This is a civil suit for an employment action; and (2) a "hostile work environment" may be sued upon

p.s Apple protects its higher management more than the regular job roles within Apple.. a sad culture. Like attracts like within Apple.
