That is why there is a PG-13, TV-PG, TV-14 ratings in the states. There are offensive viewpoints or even words/phrases you can use to ensure that nobody would ever air your show. For example, even South Park now refrains from unironically using "gay" to mean "dumb."
Doesn't bug me. Too many shows have started using violence, sex, and nudity purely because they can. Think of how many episodes of Game of Thrones have characters delivering exposition with sex in the back ground or while having sex, purely because they could. It adds almost nothing to the actual show aside from saying it's there.
Having to work around nudity, sex, and gore has resulted in loads of endlessly creative solutions that have for now been abandoned on TV just because they can.
And I am sick of movies and shows being dumbed down just to aim for the kids audience. Kids have their own tv shows and movies, they need to leave it out of adults stuffGood. I’m sick of television being inundated with profanity and violence. It will be nice to have some quality programming produced that I don’t feel I have to shield my children’s eyes from.
Public TV only sucks because they lack creativity and budget and have recycled the plots too many times, not because they're restricted from coarse content. Generally, if you don't pay for something, it's gonna be worse. Same reason kids watch Nickelodeon and Disney Channel (which are cable only). Though there have been some kinda cool game shows like Shark Tank on public TV lately. Anyway, GoT sucks too.Like anything, when people jump on the bandwagon and add sex and violence to be sensational is never a good thing, but GoT would not be the massive hit it is if it went through a Disney like content scrubbing and emerged as something that could be shown on ABC Family.
Also there is NOTHING "endlessly creative" on channels like ABC Family, or ALL TV Network content, which are devoid of anything novel or creative and full of tepid regurgitated treatments of plots that have already been seen a million times over because it is too hard these days for Network producers beholden to special interest groups and government regulations to try something creative and original opposed to recycling content from the past that the mindless masses currently tolerate as standard fare.
Public tv tends to be around pg-13. I would imagine Apple would go for pg.There are plenty of wildly famous, popular, and critically acclaimed TV shows and movies that are clean enough to be aired on public TV.
I agree. I am glad Apple is doing this. Really for those who want the filth there is plenty of it out there so don't sign up and use what you like. Really if I want I can go off on the GoT and MA rated show threads saying this stuff is garbage, sex, swearing and I will never watch it so I don't go on there and complain.Sounds good to me. It is in keeping with their history and reputation. There are plenty of other places to go for courser content.
Saving Christmas Part II?![]()
That's like asking why they didn't produce a computer with a floppy-drive and one without and let the market decide? Apple has never been driven by what the masses desire. It has always sought to control and influence the markets it enters with conservatism and discipline more than edgy thinking and it chooses the market carefully based on a pretty narrow vision. Why not produce a range of content and let the market decide?
