On a more serious note, I agree with a lot of posters. There really is no need for a face time camera on a watch. I would however LOVE to open all the biometrics its capable of, and add the GPS module for phone free exercising. the ability to use a find my watch type system would be nice to have as well.

The idea of taking even a facetime audio call on my watch seems off. Maybe just to say "hey let me call you back in a minute when I find my phone." Otherwise, taking any call on the watch seems weird and silly.

Please do tell us how so? You're wearing a wireless earpiece and you get a call. You look at the watch, see who it is then answer it. You begin talking. How is that weird and silly and furthermore how is that any worse off from using your phone?

But Gen 2 will be followed by Gen 3, so does that make Gen 2 a bad decision? And then what about Gen 4?

I have enjoyed Gen 1 versions of the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch from their respective launch days and I have absolutely no regrets.

This is a concept lost on so many. I guess they buy one thing, chain it to their neck and cry when new stuff comes out.

Bad news for the early adopters.

I received my watch on release day. And since then, I have wondered just who would make this inane statement? Do you think I'm an idiot? Do you actually think I wasn't fully aware that the next version of the watch would appear within a year or two at the most? Do you not think that I'm aware of how new technology works? Do you not think that I'm very happy to use my v1 watch for a year and then buy the next version? It is an insult to me that you are so presumptuous as to think you know the answers and I don't understand them!

You buy an item for what it is. If you want to wait for the next best thing, then do so, but you may never ever buy anything. Even four generations of the watch from now, there will still be the next better watch on the horizon. I'm surprised you don't understand this.

I'm surprised that they're even going to bother to build a v2 of this niche market product. If the sales are really as low as they 'seem' to be, they will have a job getting rid of all the v1 inventory that is even now beginning to fill their storerooms and even more trouble trying to claw back all the development and advertising money they've already dumped on a watch that hardly anyone really wants.

Actually, if they really believed what they said, they would never by anything where newer technology and improvements might be involved. But they are largely hypocritical and just love to bash people and technology. It is part of their sad way of thinking.

Actually, there's no need for YOU and those others to buy a watch with a FT camera. Don't say "There's no need for it". YOU just don't need it.

Here's your $17,000 FaceTime call:

At this point I don't think Gen2 would be worth the purchase. I would really like a bigger screen like 50-55mm. Might have to wait until Gen 3-4

They also mention that various metals including Platinum might appear in the price points between $1,000 and $10,000.

So, even when Platinum is cheaper than Gold by weight as it was recently. Platinum is typically 95% pure vs 18K gold which is 18/24 (.75) actual gold.

Pure Platinum is also heavier than Pure Gold so you need more for the same volume.

Platinum is harder to work.. consider this is not a factor since the watch is machined.

It's going to be more expensive than Gold purely on the material cost.

Chill; the story didn't mention anything about Watch2 being THINNER..

So it can't possibly be true! ;-)

Oh so you were talking about Pebble.
Isn't there a pebble forum you can visit?
Maybe not enough activity because it's a niche product eh?
Last time I checked pebble is desperately trying to raise money, so it will be interesting if your super awesome watch maker even survived beyond 2016.

There is a reason why Pebble never became a mainstream product but I guess you will never understand.
Could your response possibly be any more pompous?

Look, if you are happy with the Apple Watch, that's fine. But do not think for a second that your needs and desires are the same as everyone else's.

I see these as nice phone features, but not on the top of list for watch features. The wifi might be the biggest improvement assuming they improve battery life to handle the extra power draw. Oh, well I am happy with my first generation watch.

Im making my choice to pick one up tomorrow. Someone please convince me to either get it or wait...

That's the strange thing about the story - if you watch the WWDC sessions, OS2 can operate over WIFI without the phone around.

Yeah, its really bad news having a device for at least 14 months until the next one comes out, you know, like with every other Apple device... I'll just buy the new one when it comes out and sell this one and it'll cost me peanuts whilst you wait...

Hmmmm - my Omega Automatic I got from my dad is 50 years old - and still working (with an overhal here and there). Good to go for another 50 years and strangely doesn't feel out of date like the Apple watch will be - every year.
Granted, it only shows time and date, but isn't that the purpose of a watch? Maybe Apple should rename it into "personal infometer" or something instead of "watch"...

It is so sad that our technology is evolving instead of sitting there, to look at our ancient watches and wait to die...
