I think the battery life is fine if you are an inactive person. If you use it for fitness tracking, then you quickly find out how ****** the battery life is on the Apple Watch. I won't be buying another until they improve it - A LOT.

Do you have the GPS version. I have G1 and charge at night, and good for the next day.
To be fair I keep putting off my health kick though. So sedentary for me at present.

This most certainly won't happen given that Apple Watch's capabilities. It isn't like the Watch uses a negligible amount of data each month.

I guess my point is it doesn't matter how much data it uses if it's part of your family plan. I'm paying for 10 gb. I can add a line for free. Why not a watch?

The current "iPad charge" is pretty much a convenience charge for not teathering.

Price needs to get down for it to really take off. LTE Is cool because it means you could say leave your phone at home if you go to the movies and still have a way to get messages and check in. Also good if you lose phone or it breaks. Analogous to a spare tire in a car.

Yep, good for security, or needing help as well - SOS

I bought an original and a Series 2 Apple Watch but I will probably skip this version. I don't mind keeping it "tethered" to my iPhone and I don't want to pay Verizon to put another device on my plan. Also, I am fine with the current thickness and battery life (of course more would be better but I have never had a problem with the current battery life). What I am wanting is 1) more sensors such as glucose or other health sensors and 2) more interaction with the iPhone - maybe some type of gesture control for playing music over my Air Pods (yes, I know I can control it by touching the screen of my watch but I would prefer gestures if there was a good way to do it).

The iWatch will be a flop until the this triple fix occurs.

1) 1 week battery life
2) always on display
3) make it less chunky

Pretty much, although I'd honestly be happy with a solid 2 days battery life. That's 2 days with using it a lot, and always on display, GPS, and working out with it both days. Less chunky would be nice as well, but I don't think in its current form it will ever be a beauty.

Sapphire doesn't scratch, except with diamonds, but it cracks/breaks. That's why good watches are usually made with metal that scratches, but the crystal is made of sapphire.

Of course, some companies like Omega make watches entirely out of things like ceramic, which is essentially scratch proof...until something like this happens:

YES! Ceramics....sigh...wish we get those.

If I use my AW2 to work out in the morning then it barely lasts me until 7pm or so. OK for work days, but sucks if I have a dinner engagement or am going out. If I don't work out then it seems to last me all evening, but that's only if I use it lightly. Just my personal opinion, but for me that's crappy battery life. But I have 2 AW's, one for working out and one that goes on my dress watch.

First of all, the name of the product is Apple Watch. Second, it’s not remotely close to a “flop” as-is. Third, it will probably never have a week of battery because physics. And last, it’s already quite attractive and not at all “chunky.”

Apple Watch is the marketing named so don’t be fooled. If it were a success then Apple would show us the numbers. Where are they, Tim? Your other two responses are rather naive and a personal POV.

I’d settle for three days if there was a pathway to solidly increasing the specs. Right now there’s no advance to the 2015 model.

I say part of increasing the specs are the apps. Not truly increasing the hardware capabilities, but actually making useful apps for a watch. I find myself often frustrated with how limited apps are on the AW. But that all most likely ties into hardware as well for actually running those apps. Anyhow it's par for the course of having the OS always trailing behind the hardware.

Face ID would be an interesting addition to the watch. Look at the watch in the morning and it unlocks. It would also be nice if the watch knew when someone was looking at the display and lit up accordingly. The current method of using the accelerometer to determine when to light up the screen is just okay, far from great.

I don't personally have an Apple Watch but most probably will do in the future when I see value in terms of functionality for my needs.

However the comments about being too thick are interesting as there is an awful lot of cutting edge technology crammed in and the watch needs more battery life not less.

The third-generation Apple Watch, expected to be introduced alongside new iPhones this fall, does not feature an obvious change to form factor, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a new note shared with investors this afternoon, Kuo says LTE connectivity will be the main selling point of the new device.

The Apple Watch will keep the same two case sizes, 38mm and 42mm, and will be available in LTE and non-LTE versions, much like the iPad. Previous rumors have suggested the major carriers in the United States will offer add-on cellular service for the new LTE Apple Watch, and the plans may work similarly to iPad data plans.

Kuo believes shipments of the new Apple Watch models will reach 8 to 9 million units in the second half of 2017, with the LTE model to account for 35 to 40 percent of shipments. Overall, he forecasts 17.5 to 18 million units shipped in 2017, up 70 percent year-over-year.

According to Kuo, to drive major growth, Apple needs to introduce a radical form factor change, more FDA approvals supporting medical and health applications, and 5G commercialization.

Bloomberg first suggested the third-generation Apple Watch would include support for LTE in early August, allowing the wrist-worn device to be uncoupled from the iPhone for the first time.

Following Bloomberg's report, Daring Fireball's John Gruber said he had heard from a "little birdie" that the third-generation Apple Watch would feature an "all-new form factor," but he warned that the information might be inaccurate.

Based on Kuo's report and a lack of rumors hinting at major design changes, it appears we may not see significant design changes after all.

Although it does not change a lot, but I still want to experience it

I’m fine with the LTE version provided it does a couple of things.

It needs to be cloned to my regular cellphone number so it can make and receive calls without being in communication with the phone. FaceTime audio should also work.

It costs $5/mo to add it on to my plan. Any more than that and I’m out.

"needs... 5G commercialization."

Why does the watch need 5G? What is anyone doing on their watch that LTE can't handle?

What about a always on display and a 3rd party watch faces App Store to make it look like an actual watch and not like a liitle toy??

I love my siries 0 alot, serves me well for the last two years, but its Needs a significant watch faces refresh and an always on display ASAP,
this is why it fell to be a real watch replacement (what jony ive thought it would become) and became a fitness device only, it just don't feel like a real watch, too gadgety with the black screen all the time, a cool accessory for the gym and for notifications
That's why apple closed galary la fayett store that tried to competet with real watches, and cancelled the "rolex like" gold option, its not a watch until it doesn't have always on display and hermes style watch faces, now its a fitness tracker with notifications alert and i dont think lte is the way to convince non technological peaple to switch their swatch to apple watch

Couldn't agree more

Whatever you say, buddy, whatever you say.

The pebble had all these features and even that didn’t save them from being acquired by Fitbit.

And Fitbit killed Pebble, they just wanted the few staff left and Intellectual Property.
Hope Pebble founders came away with a life changing lump sum, respect to them as Pioneers.

From what I know, the acquisition sum was a mere pittance. Maybe just enough to cover debt and that's pretty much it.

Makes you wonder what the AW lineup will look like in the fall. A few directions I can see it going:
-One new version, series 1 & 2 remain on sale (i.e. series 3 with LTE added to current lineup)
-Two new versions, series 1 & 2 discontinued (i.e. series 3 & series 3 LTE)
-Entire lineup receives internal update, 3 versions sold (i.e. no GPS, GPS & GPS + LTE)
