While it isn’t an actual photograph of my route, I wanted to share a snapshot of the progress I’ve made over the last week…

As you can see, my average pace increased by 2” and my average heart rate decreased by 10BPM.
I realize that might not seem like much to all the seasoned pros in this thread, but for me it’s a new beginning. I grew tired of seeing myself pack on more and more fat, so I decided that it was time. Coincidentally, I had recently purchased the Nike+ Series 3 that’s in my signature. The permanent NRC complication was staring me down so I figured I might as well give it a shot.
I’m extremely happy to say that since the last time I was weighed in mid-July to this past Friday , I’ve lost 2.5 pounds through diet and exercise.
Well done - keep up the good work![]()
two mile walk
I have a knee that gives me trouble if i run too much. Sometimes I will jog for a little bit, then walk, then jog again. I do an elliptical machine a lot as well. I just have to be careful of the knee. You walk instead of run? Might I ask why? Does it turn out I'm not the only one?

When i first started about 2 or 2.5 years ago I was really out of shape. Really bad, back then i would get frustrated because I would use the apple app and select outdoor walk and I would walk for about 30 to 40 minutes and it would only count about 5 minutes of it as exercise, but I felt like I had just exercised hard for the whole time. I started using map my run, and sometimes strava. It would count all the minutes as exercise using those. I tried the nike app but I couldnt get the audio to turn off on the watch. Now I have dropped a lot of weight I sometimes use map my run and pick walk, but usually I just use the apple app and pick outdoor walk. Now it counts almost all of it as exercise. Depending on how slow i decide to go or how many times i stop to take pics. I always get the 30 minutes at least counted as exercise. It took me a while to get fast enough walking/jogging to get the default apple app to count is exercise though.Out of curiosity, is your walk brisk enough to be picked up by the watch without starting a workout beforehand?
How many exercise minutes do you typically earn on a walk?
Which workout type do you use, and in which app?
So do you think that instead of using the 'Other' category to track my walks, I should instead try using Strava again so that, before I worry about my pace too much, I begin to shape an idea of what a brisk walk is and feels like? When i first started about 2 or 2.5 years ago I was really out of shape. Yeah. I used the other workout some and I don't remember why I stopped doing it that way. I liked map my run and strava but I ended up liking strava a little better. There is also one for walking called walkmeter. I haven't used it though. So do you think that instead of using the 'Other' category to track my walks, I should instead try using Strava again so that, before I worry about my pace too much, I begin to shape an idea of what a brisk walk is and feels like?

Good job and on your last point keep in mind for most people (may or may not apply to you) the extra money spent on "groceries" is more than offset by the daily monies spent on junk and fast food.No pictures here, but providing a bodybuilder 60 day update based off my last body scan:
The goal is 20 pounds of muscle in July 2019, leaving me 16 pounds of muscle to go. And for the record, my bulletproof vest doesn’t fit anymore or my uniform shirts
- Down 2% body fat.
- 4 pounds of muscle gained
- 41 sessions/Over 85 hours invested in the gym of weight training thus far.
( that I don’t have to pay for.)
That’s actually not the downside, my monthly grocery bill has dramatically increased, but for a good cause.
