That's really cool for the tourists then who probably won't have registered. They are pushing contactless hard on the tube at the moment.

Does anyone know how to claim back the balance on my Oyster card? I've tried to work it out on the website but not cracked it yet!

Assuming you've already registered your Oystercard:

Log in
Go to My Refund tab.
Tap Service Delay Refund.
Select Oystercard and choose your card.
Fill in your journey details with delay time and refund method.
Submit.

They turn it around usually in a couple of working days.

Thanks, that wasn't quite what I was looking for but I followed your trail and found 'Refund products' which is what I needed to get the balance back off my card.
