Sure, there's a premium for the Apple name, but it's not egregious like some high end luxury brands. I've seen a few SS links go for hundreds of dollars; not even the full band... just a few links. And they all require special tools, aren't forged from custom SS that's 80% harder than standard SS nor do they have clasps that sit nearly flush with the band. So relatively speaking, $450 for Apple's innovative SS band is a very good value IMO.

Sigh. Most luxury band makers say their steel is a special blend. Apple's is standard 316L. There's a harder alloy out there which Apple chose not to use.

Not a big deal. Both can be scratched easily.

It is a "Comparable" price. But it is also made in China-not saying Chinese products are bad, as much as that inherently doesn't get much of a premium. This might be innovative for Apple-creating a luxury jewelry market from China in the American consciousness (some made in China stuff is really, really surprisingly nice).

Eaton Centre in Toronto has a wide variety of straps in the back room. They'll probably be put on shelves over night.

I purchased a blue sport band to go with my Space Grey Sport Apple Watch.

There are bands in the Nashua NH store. They only had sport bands out and only one pink on the shelves. Didn't ask if they had others in the back.

I'm saying companies must sell at prices to maintain what they want to do. A small brewery (since you mentioned drinks before) has a smaller markup per unit because they're paying fewer people and there's less R&D. A company like Apple selling link bracelets at thousands of times their material cost must do so because they're a huge business and have lots of people to pay, even though less went into R&D on that particular item (but will be spread out onto other items and grant more creative freedoms to their development teams).

That's the science behind it.

But on our more human-perception level we see people charging more and think less of them. If there are two beers for sale and one has a smaller markup I'm more likely to support them to help them out, because it just appears better to me.

(I suppose a good example of this would be my preference to buy headphones like Audio Technica and not Beats)

No offense or anything, but this is among the dumbest things I have ever read on this website. And I've read a lot of dumb things here.

Omaha

Can confirm Omaha, NE has all Sport colors and Modern Buckel in 42. Picked up a white and modern, was hoping for both loops as well but they did not receive any. Only 3 moderns one rep told me when I called to first ask if they had any at all.

I'm in the Miami Falls area as I brought my wife down for her bday. I'll have to stop by the Apple Store for confirmation in the AM. I'll bring back bands for anyone in the DMV that wants them.

No offence or anything, but could you be as so intelligent as to explain why.

I assume you're much more of a capitalist than I, and are unaware of the Underdog Effect?

Why is this dumb?

Usually a lower markup means better value.

2 beers, both for $3.00 each. One beer is a Bud light, bought from the manufacturer for $1.25. One beer is a special craft beer, made for $2.50. Which is the one you are likely to buy?

I stopped by the store at the Galleria in Fort Laud and picked up a Blue Sport...I'm wondering if they will be getting daily shipments. I'd really love to get my hands on a Milanese Loop.

Anyone seen any straps for sale in UK stores?

So I called the Apple Store in Westfield Stratford to check if they had any 38 mm Milanese loop bands as my order is still processing. They don't have any in stock at the Stratford store. They only have the sports bands for anyone is interested. However they kindly called Selfridges for me to check if they have any stock there which they do so I'm on my way to get one now.

I also read on another thread that sports bands are available at the regents street store.

Just walked into my local store in Trumbull, CT and got a 42 Black Sport band, half the employees didn't even know they had them in the back. Finally my combo is complete!

Also while I was there 18 large boxes arrived, I'm suspecting these are watches/bands, if so, that is a such a slap to the pre-orders!

Just got the 42 mm Milanese Loop in NYC

Make sure you talk to someone. Just bought the 42mm Milanese Loop at the UWS Apple Store in Manhattan. I checked the 5th Avenue Store first, but then decided to walk over to the UWS store. They only had the Sports Bands out on the floor. I asked an employee if he knew if or when they might get the Milanese Loop bands he; he told me to wait, called someone and they brought it out. He said they were only keeping sports bands on the floor.

Strange model for selling, but glad I asked. Shipping time from the website was still end of June.

The one that tastes better.
