This would change my life and I’d do anything to get into that trial. I can’t wear any other continuous glucose monitor because of an allergy to adhesives. This would mean no finger pricking which I never do and I’d actually know my body.

This will change the world. Go apple go.

I believe many people are going to get a nasty shock if/when this comes to market and then, hopefully, that shock will turn into positive, healthy action. The improvement in life quality, the reduction in serious illnesses developing, the reduced burden on healthcare systems. What a win, if they can pull it off.

Apple are often not the first to the market with any technology. But something so difficult as this, if it can be done at all, is going to be possible only by a company with very deep pockets.

How accurate could that be? That actually sounds quite creepy, because if it works, you might also be able to point a laser at people from a distance and get all kinds of information.

On the other hand we already analyze the light coming from far away galaxies to find out what the atmosphere consists of.

What is this?! Super Depressing Sunday????!!!

The headset is gonna be terrible. The watch is going to be terrible.

Next thing you’re going to tell us the iPhone 15 is gonna be terrible…. Wait…

😭

"... noninvasive blood glucose monitoring technology, allowing diabetics and others to test their blood glucose levels without needing to prick the skin for blood testing..."
that capability would require the AW to be a medical device/FDA approved - and invasive CGM (eg Dexcom" cost you thousands over the years - I do believe this technology will be there in 5 or so years, but be prepared for the price point.

This is not intended to judge how much insulin you need. This is intended more for lifestyle changes. When you eat this food, what does it do to your glucose? When you run five miles, what does that do to your glucose? It does not need to be accurate enough to tell you how much of a shot you need to save lives. It could prevent many people from ever needing to start insulin.
not according to Gurman: "... noninvasive blood glucose monitoring technology, allowing diabetics and others to test their blood glucose levels without needing to prick the skin for blood testing..."

Yeah they found it was possible to be able to achieve this. The next big hurdles will be shrinking the device to micro size and getting government approval for this. The government is not just gonna want apples trials but there own trials before they can give the seal of approval. Consumers would be depending on this device for there glucose health, so it has to be fully working with no malfunctions or errors and fully accurate.
Nahhh… they’ll just let Elizabeth Holmes out of jail to approve it. She is Jobs incarnate, yah know.

I suspect it’ll never be done.
Years ago, to determine blood oxygenation for a patient required a direct needle stick into the radial artery, a potentially dangerous procedure. Today a pulse oximeter, a very small electrical device, is simply applied to the end of a finger and almost instantly reads the O2 saturation and pulse. No one would have predicted this at the time of the needle sticks. Yet, here we are with a simpler and safer way to do this. Science is amazing for those who believe in science. Those that don't believe in science will be very pessimistic about future advances in medicine.

I found some of the most fascinating, riveting parts of “Bad Blood” 📕 about Theranos to be Elizabeth Holmes et al’s treating the regulatory guidelines for developing such a diagnostic medical device as annoying little speed bumps they basically treated like spent cheeseburger wrappers. Thankfully the system held…to their great frustration. It goes without saying Apple will be following those guidelines to the t, which of course adds enormous delay.

What about blood pressure monitoring? That has also been rumored for years. I’d really like at least one of these two as based on my family medical history those are my biggest concerns.

Remember when we had to plug stuff in to transfer data and charge things? :D

I tried the sleep app for a couple of weeks and it is so inaccurate as to be nothing but a toy.

However, the sleep app does not have any consequences for the inaccuracy, but glucose monitoring could be life or death. Don't see how Apple's management is up to creating a product with those quality requirements.

Better than not testing at all. Being stressed or having the flu can affect blood sugar levels.

These are untrue/misleading statements. You don't really understand diabetes, do you? Are you aware of the two basic kinds of diabetes? Are you a medical professional?
