I would want my watch at least looked at! Would definitely be asking for it to be replaced. I am assuming Apple will do both in this situationIs the watch broken though?

Yes. It absolutely is. It came with one of our apple watches, not sure which...I've had a few generations. This is the exact unit (of course the one on the apple website is less melted looking):Is that even an official apple watch charger? Cuz it doesn’t look like.
Looks like one to me. It’s the one that comes with the stainless steel models. Is that even an official apple watch charger? Cuz it doesn’t look like.
Yes.Is this an Apple genuine charger? I’ve not had one with metal surrounds

Make sure you email your advisor saying that happened.Update. Got a call back from the senior advisor who had been handling my case. He said he was going to transfer me to customer care. During the transfer my call dropped.
Hoping they call me back.
I did. Not heard back yet. Presumably he is dealing with a huge queue of idiots like myself with various issues.Make sure you email your advisor saying that happened.
That would be very nice of them to do. I think at this point I'd hope for at least a replacement of the charger... and an inspection/repair of watch to give me the all-clear. I have no way to know if the charger or the watch's power-regulation setup is at fault.I imagine they will replace both the watch and the charger. I don't think they would risk only replacing one or the other, when the there's a chance the other one was really at fault, and then the same thing happens.
Oh I didn’t know that. My bad 😕Yes, the stainless steel watch version comes with a steel surround puck
If Apple offers to replace your wife, do not accept. More than likely you would get a refurbished wife. That would be very nice of them to do. Apple won’t have anything to explain it’s not even their charger.. it’s a third party OEM charger 🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ Don’t embarrass yourself.. go hang up the call.Update: on the phone with Apple to see what they have to say about the situation.
Third party / OEM charger. Huh.Last night I woke up to my wife letting out a quick scream at 3am. Apparently, she had woken up and wanted to pick up her apple watch to check the time. The OEM Apple charger had gotten so hot that it burned her finger pretty badly (blister already beginning to form) that she dropped the watch/charger right back onto the nightstand in pain. We unplugged everything and went back to sleep.
We woke up this morning to her Apple Watch Series 4 not powering on, and upon inspection I realized that her OEM charger puck had gotten so hot that the plastic melted and started to peel away exposing the charging coils beneath! Unfortunately she doesn't have apple care on the watch. I've never heard of this happening before. Is there any recourse through apple to at least get the device / charger replaced?
