Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone here knew of upcoming deals on the AW Sport for Xmas? I missed out on all the Black Friday specials, and was hoping to get one for my significant other in time for Xmas. Anyone know of deals floating around the web that require special coupons or promo codes?

Thanks!
Suddenly in the last two days, out in stores, I've seen discounting I never thought I'd witness from Apple.

The unfortunate part for Apple's reputation is that this is not a blockbuster product.
It's not in high demand. It doesn't even seem to be in modest demand.
Apple isn't usually a cheap product company, but times are changing.

History in the making, we are witnessing the "Walmart Effect" being permanently stamped on Apple's forehead.

I bought an open box one 42 MM rose Gold (still wrapped in the plastic) when they were $50 off. My total with tax was $303 plus apple pay discount to be applied by Discover. I went back yesterday and told them that I could either return it and buy a new one or what can they do for me to keep this one? The manager offered me $75 credit on my credit card. So my 42mm rose gold ended up costing me approx. $190

Unless my math is off, $303 - 75 is $228...

Either way, you got a really good deal!

The difference is the 10% cash rebate that I get from discover card from using apple pay for the original $303 purchase. I will get approx $30 from Discover Card. And then sales tax from the $75 off which is $7.31. So it was 303.xx (original purchase) - $82.31 (price adjustment) - $30.xx (Discover Rebate) = $190.xx

I had a minor hiccup with my two Watch Sport credits, but it worked out in the end.

Best Buy would only do the $50 credit for the Open Box 42mm at my local store because I bought it in person. When I got to the store, the service center rep was hesitant because I was trying to get the full $50 credit for another Open Box and they did not have any at their store. I said I had until January 15th to return mine and they would have one as soon as I returned it. :D He had to call his manager for the final approval.

At the store, they said I had to call the Best Buy price match number to get the $50 credit for the new 38mm I bought online on Thanksgiving day. I called when I got home and they gave me the full credit without issue.

From my experience, if you bought your Watch Sport online, you have to use the price match hotline. If you bought it in person, you have to go into the store for your credit.

Just ordered wife new white 42mm Sport. I pick up my 42MM Sport last week, open box for $279. I love it. And now with $100 off @ BBY, can not beat the price.

Grabbed one a Target. Always said I was going to wait until AW2 and was seriously considering a Peeble Time Steel.
But Target matched Best Buy's $100 off of the 42mm Sport Space Grey and gave me a $100 gift card.
Unbelievable deal.

I've tried to get target to match your deal twice today with no luck...oh well I'll live..enjoy your watch!

Got two new 42mm Sport watches for my wife and myself at Target for $215 each (incl. sales tax) - they price matched it with BB and also gave me two Target $100 gift cards. Pretty happy with my purchase!

This really makes me think Apple is subsidizing the latest round of discounts. How can Target make money on a Watch they are selling for half off, unless Apple is giving them a volume discount at this time of the year?

I am not complaining, just think there is more to the story then a big retailer "losing money" on every Watch they sell.

AFAIK, most Target stores offer just one of the two: it's either a price match or their gift card. But two stores in my city, for some reason, offer both.

This is Apple we're talking about here, not Vertu. They're allowed to sell things at steep discounts, and it used to happen all the time with iPods and even Macs - still happens with Macs :)

I fully expected to be shot down.
I was surprised it worked. Didn't need to ask, they just handed to me.

It almost sounds like the people at the cash register are the ones making the mistake. They are probably not supposed to do a price match and the GC, but since this is all new, they are doing both without knowing the rules.

I wish I had waited, but I already bought my two Watch Sports from BB and they gave me the extra $50 credit when the price dropped last week.

I just bought another 42mm sports tonight at Target and was able to get them to price match BB and give me the $100 gift card. The first Target I went to said they can not price match a competitors sale price only their regular prices. Which is total BS but oh well. I went to a different Target about a mile away and had no problem. Plus I used my target card and got 5% off.

I think I am going to try this today. Definitely worth a shot

Well I tried...and I was denied. Crazy how every Target seems different. The guy working the electronics area told me that Target does price match, but not on Apple products. So no price matching for iPad, Watch, etc...

Unbelievable deal.

I tried to get Target to price match Best Buy online for an Apple Watch Stainless Steel 38mm with white Sport Band (without the Target Giftcard, just the $100 off) and two associates told me they couldn't do it for two different reasons unposted on Target's website. I got ahold of a supervisor who had no problem doing it but then she realized it was going to send me the gift card and so "the system wouldn't let us do it." Has anyone had them price match online with this? If so, how? I am trying to use my Target RedCard to get an additional 5% off and I am already returning a Watch I bought at Best Buy, which is why I would rather get it from Target. I rather not go to a Target store for it because my local ones don't have this one in stock and I hate having to do in person returns if that issue arises.

I tried to get the price match and the $100 giftcard and was turned down and two places in the LA area. Oh well, guess they are catching-on?

Which ones in LA did you try? I first tried the West Hollywood one on Santa Monica and La Brea and they would not do it. Then I went over to the City Target at the Beverly Connection on La Cienega and they did it for me.

Hi jwlbel,

Oh wow! Now I feel really bad. Those are the two I went to! I went to Beverly Connection first and the guy working in electronics told me that I can only choose one or the other. So I drove to W. Hollywood and the guy said that Guest Services would determine if they can price match. At Guest Services, the cashier checked with another guy (manager?) and told me that I can only choose one option. Boo!

Happy for you though. Just sad about inconsistencies! When did you go?

Edit: Oh just saw that you went Sat. night. Darn it!

I've been thinking about pickup up the watch and with a recent surge in contract work to help justify a splurge I'm pretty close, so I'm thinking if I could score the double deal at Target it would be a no-brainer.

That said, what are the watches sporting software-wise out of the box? It matters to me as I don't want to lose my Jailbreak to use the watch. I'm on 8.4, and if the watches are on Watch OS 2 that would leave me with something pretty that I couldn't use yet until a Jailbreak comes out for 9.x. I'm guessing they're all on version 1, but it's also possible that newer shipments have gone out with 2 pre-installed.

So for anyone that cares to report, what was yours running out-of-the-box and when did you pick it up?

Thanks!

Got mine on 11/25 and it had 2.0 on it. I updated it to 2.0.1 after I set it up.
