I might buy a 38mm Stainless Steel in the least popular band and just keep it in the box, sounds like it'd be rare as rock horse sh.. in a decade.

Yep, place it on the museum shelf right next to the Apple Newton ###

This is ridiculous. That number is still 5x that of the nearest competitor and is a great first round for a tech accessory. Haters, shut up. It's still a cool product just maybe not for you-- just like you probably don't have at least one item from the Apple lineup.

Another 1st generation Apple product that has underwhelming specs and feature list. Put me in the not surprised category. Apple Watch will need a couple more iterations before it becomes a "must have".

I'm just gonna wait for the next 2nd gen, like I did with the iPhone and iPad.

I guess Kuo's job is to harsh on everything.

"No wireless. Less space than a Nomad. Lame."

Maybe Kuo can quit his day job and design products that meet his expectations.

It will be interesting to revisit this post at the end of the year and see how accurate he was. How many iPhones did Apple sell in 2007?

It's unbelievable the number of people here who believe that 15 MM in the first fiscal year is somehow proof of a failed product. You do realize it would make Watch the world's fastest selling CE, right?

My 82 y/o mom and 50 y/o sister both opted for 42mm sport white models.

Btw they love them. (There is a Rolex and a Tissot that are now benchwarmers as my girls don't want to be without their Apple Watches.)

Demand is flattening? People on these very forums are still waiting for their orders even though most of them ordered within the first week.

It's possible production could be partly to blame, but the watch only launched in a handful of countries so what happens to demand when Apple launches the Watch everywhere else? If anything, I think Apple will spend the better part of this year trying to keep up with demand.

Got my 42mm SS with the steel link bracelet last week, arrived on 5/12, and very happy with it so far.

One thing I will say - the battery life on the watch has not been an issue at all. It easily gets through a day of reasonably heavy usage.

I would like to see a 46mm version of the watch. Most of my watches are 46-48mm and I prefer them that way.

No surprise, there just simply isn't a market for wearables at their current price and their current bulkiness. I wore mine out to the bar the other night with some friends and they were all questioning my buy.

The only other person I've seen wearing one so far is this old hippie, quack professor I used to have. So yeah, not surprised at the sales figures.

I have 3 friends who have :apple:Watches, a coworker, and two other friends have :apple:Watches on order.

I have had people question my purchase, but my impression has been that they're irrational attitude towards it, as if because they don't see the need, they have to try to bash the product in the hopes of bringing it down.

I say they're just jealous. Most of the people who have put down the watch that I've spoken to are Android/Samsung fans.

PS. Bulky? I just don't get this.....my previous Fossil watch was way bulkier----and all it did was tell time.

Like the smartphone market, I do think that culture will trend toward the larger smartwatch. I believe that we could see the 38mm option fall away in favour of larger options due to the nature of utility inherent in the smartwatch.

IOW, the tiny fashion accessory watches that women wear on their wrist simply has no place in the smartwatch market so I would expect the larger to become more common. Perhaps even an eventual trend that uses the width more than the height so that more of the wrist can be utilized, but I suspect that the utility to usher in that trend hasn't been invented (and may never happen).

Not entirely surprising if the majority of watch buyers are men.

Historically, a watch was the only piece of jewelry men wore outside of an engagement/wedding ring. Rings, bracelets, and necklaces were almost exclusively bought and worn by women. Yes, things have changed in the past few decades, but by and large this remains true.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if people (regardless of gender) just opt for the larger face. Just like large sunglasses have been in fashion for a while, the same simply could hold true for watches.

I don't question your purchase, it's your money - but I still don't get the whole deal with smart watches, they don't appeal to me and I don't see the need for one.

To each their own.

Mobile me?
Ping, Mobile Me, those seem more like services and not really products.

good, let it flop. focus on making a computer that is upgradeable and stop being so hostile to enthusiasts.
Pretty sure that ship has sailed. It was nice though. Those with older MacBook Pros could upgrade ram and the hard drive to keep it fresh.

Isn't there a silver lining in the dominance of the 42mm market share? Namely people seem to have little problem with the 50$ premium for bigger.
