Better looking than the Apple Watch IMO. Just not a fan of rectangular watches even though for a smart watch it does make more sense.

I understand what you're saying, and I used to argue the same things. But when an average consumer can walk into Best Buy, or Costco and get a cheap laptop for a couple or a few hundred bucks, Apple is expensive. Where can you get Apple machines for the same price? You can't. People don't look at the specs, and analyze it the way you or even I do.

Herein lies the crux of the problem. What you really want is respect for LG. You keep bringing up this argument that your LG phone was the same cost. but IT DOES NOT MATTER. I have stated to you over and over, that price does not matter. I even gave the example of LG has a $100,000 dollar TV, but that doesn't make them "high end" in the eyes of the market. The phones could cost the same, but Apple is still seen by the market as High End, based on the superior software, ease of use, and the fit and finish of the product. And no, this LG watch is not in the same league as the AppleWatch. People will not want it they way they will want the the Apple watch (relatively speaking). No one, will see it as high end vis-a-vis Apple.

I think Apple has pulled off the ultimate fast one. To make people believe that they are high-end. This image has been cultivated though years of amazing marketing and a legion of cult fans.

At the end of the day, it is not any more or less exclusive than its peers. So, really it is just good marketing and not the product or the price. And so many fall for it.

Bravo Apple!

It's not just marketing and smoke and mirrors. Apple products are exceedingly well made with very close attention to detail, and use better materials and design, as well as design values. The software design is taken the same way as well. People buy Apple products because they love them and love using them, and like them better than any of the other experiences out there. This is also why Apple enthusiasts are so loyal. It's not for nothing.

Well it isn't a competitor really since its android but I'll glance over that bit.

From colleagues I speak to and also my own feelings, it seems like the market is getting so saturated that people are to a certain degree starting to switch off to the idea.

I was so looking forward to getting an Apple Watch but with every week that passes and no further details or even a firm release date confirmed I'm really waning on the idea now and don't actually think I will bother, I know my colleagues/friends and I are likely not representative of the mass-markets but I don't think were alone in our thoughts.

Exactly. When I think of two companies that have products that really are no better then many competitors, but have amazing marketing and have created a false sense of exclusive luxury I think of Apple and Bose. Both have good products that work well with nice styling, but what comes after that is how each have became so successful. Both have set prices and only corporate can set sale prices. Both use a lot of fancy adjectives and registered trademarks. Both have products filled with proprietary technology even if it's just a connector. The similarities go on and on, but I can't say I blame them because it's been very successful.

Heck I own several products from both companies and am happy with the products. With that said, I am also not afraid to buy products from other companies as well. I bought an LG G3 because I honestly feel the design of the phone is superior to the iPhone 6 Plus. It is just so compact for having a 5.5" screen. I also own an LG G Watch R and I really enjoy the round design and great battery life. At the same time I think my iMac, iPad Air, Bose Soundlink Mini, and Bose Quietcomfort headphones are excellent products.

With that all said there are quite a few respected brands on the market and yes I think LG is a respected brand. Maybe not a "pseudo-luxury" brand like Apple, but when you consider they used to be known for selling budget Goldstar TVs, VCRs, and microwaves in discount stores they have came a long way.

Simple, if I fork out the cash for this I'm not likely to buy another watch in April. :) (unless of course you wear two watches)

In marketing timing when you release a product for sale can be critical.

You answered a question that wasn't asked. This watch only runs android. If you have an android phone, you get an android watch. If you have an ios phone, you get an ios watch... or pebble.

Until they are cross compatible, they don't compete and can't steal sales from each other. The OS of your phone determines which watch you get.

Competitor? Im willing to bet Apple sells more watches in the first week than every other Android watch sells combined the entire year.

I was just thinking... How many people under the age of 35 or so even wear a watch anymore? I have always wore one for work, but it seems that most of the younger generation doesn't even wear them anymore. It will be interesting to see if everyone starts strapping watches on again or if it will just be a fad and people will start forgetting them on the nightstand.

just because you sell more doesn't make it better. there are more corollas sold than lambos.

your probally right for 1 simple fact that. there are many more dumb people than smart people. and that's not my opinion but a FACT.

Or maybe the simple fact that there are many fans/consumers of the most profitable and arguably the most popular company in the world. Also, a company who makes fantastic devices. Yea, couldn't be any of that right? You just called every Apple fan/consumer dumb. Why are you even here? You must own stock in Samsung.

The serious iWatch rumors started with articles like this one in early 2013.

We know that Apple began their watch project in 2012. Google had already been working on their Glass project for a year by then, and was also buying smartwatch companies like WiMM.

Companies like Fossil, LG, Sony and Samsung had been SELLING smartwatches before any of that.

To be fair, the original Apple Watch debuted in September 2010.

I'm talking about the iPod Nano 6G...

Apple didn't consider the iPod Nano 6G to be a watch you say? Then why did they it come with so many watch faces built in?

At first, many MacRumors forum members jerry-rigged watchbands, but soon many commercial bands appeared and the original Apple Watch was taking off - - but what happened next?

Apple stopped making the watch-friendly iPod Nano 6G. They switched to a different form factor in the seventh generation, so as to not distract from their major upcoming product line.

To me that is the clearest sign that Apple was already well underway in developing what we now call the Apple Watch.

Based on this history, I would say it's safe to assume that the Apple Watch has been in development since at least 2008.

It's made in the same factory as all other phones. Sure, materials are better but it's not like it's a hand made Ferrari. As for software, Apple has chosen quality over functionality. Others have chosen functionality over quality. Different strokes for different folks. Don't tell me that iOS has some magic because of some super special software developers. It's just a design choice that appeals to a large number of people. Some prefer to tinker and like Android. Again, nothing magical about it.

The magic is the marketing.

Do you think most consumers like Apple because they make huge profits?

as a matter of fact i don't own any sammy stock. and i did not call any "Apple fan/consumer dumb" i just stated a well known fact, that there are more dumb people than smart people. and by you not knowing the difference, you showed everyone here which side of the scale you are on:eek:

Perhaps made in the same factory, but the factory isn't the important part. It's the fact that they are made in that factory to Apple's specs. We've heard often of Apple rejecting yields because they aren't living up to their standards. And once again, it's not just phones. It's also Macs running OS X.
