Schiller? Where the heck is Angela Ahrendts? Seems to me she has been conspicuously absent in this product rollout.

If she was there, I'm sure many would be bickering about why she isn't personally packing their orders. You never know, maybe that's what she's doing. :)

Phil stands out like a blue sore thumb, in a sea of fashionable black.

Overweight Scruffy Sore Thumb.

She's probably in some executive board meeting elsewhere, with company reps from various designer companies trying to decide which colour nail vanish she should be wearing over the weekend.

My God, I love Apple just as much as everyone else does but this is crazy. They're hyping up their watch like its a new miracle to man kind. I sure hope the watch doesn't flop for Apple's sake.

Actually..........

Now, more than every I would LOVE it to flop.

Why?

For one simple reason now.

To show Apple, and other companies acting in this manner and treating the public in this manner is not the way to go about things.

If this flopped major style, then they may go back, re think and realize what a dumb idea and bad way to treat loyal customers this is.

We enjoy our ice cream and nachos here a little too much also. :D

But the negative remarks here and there spoilt the mood, too, you gotta be good spotting those and ignore them as best as you can :D

I hate to see that Apple Watch sold out reality does not match with their "Apple Watch flop" fantasy.

How?
Because Apple has paid millions to advertise/display/promote their Apple Watch?

Seems like many people don't understand what marketing is.

In other news, it was recently reported that GM and Honda have spent millions of dollars marketing their automobiles. Details to follow...

Actually it's not crazy, it's pretty ordinary really. They are simply doing what every luxury and fashion brand in the world does. It would have been crazy is if they didn't do all that.

It only looks crazy and out of the ordinary on nerdy tech forums.

I totally understand why many "Fashion" items do this.
As they are inherently useless, even not that well made, and they simply need to do this type of thing, to generate hype over what it in reality a weak product if you looked at it with a critical eye.

Apple should not feel so uncertain about THEIR product.

I don't think they needed to do any of this, and many would have far more respect for them if they focused on what they are good at, making great products, and not stooping down low like they are.

They should be proud of what they have made, not have to resort to gimmicky tricks to hope and pray they can make themselves look cool.

I honestly don't think they need any of this, and if smacks of weakness and uncertainty in yourself to feel you have to do any of this.

Basically that are admitting, we think this will fail, unless we do all of this.
That's a bad sign to give off.

analyst estimate 2.3 million (Let's just say it's close)

or almost a watch per second.

Not happening!

For the leather bands, I think those numbers are impossible; there's just not enough leather. The link bracelets and loop are possible, but unlikely.

Huh? How have you been treated badly?

Wow. Some of you have really weird ideas about marketing.

I understand that everything about Apple events are scripted and wardrobes preapproved, but you should dress for your setting. Put on a suit, Phil, and tuck in your shirt.

As he should!

Phil Schiller knows keepin it real.

Wrong. He is the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. He should at least dress as if he has some respect for the lofty position he holds. I don't mean a suit, but some better styled, custom made clothes that look like he understands what is going on. Denim nerd bumpkin is not the look he should be presenting, and certainly not at the Apple Watch events. I seriously doubt Angela is dressed in a denim pants suit.

Maybe he should dress respectfully like Steve did.

Yeah I do find it odd that he'd show up to an event like this in jeans and tennis shoes. Even Tim Cook has started to dress 'up' a bit.

I have issues with this luxury term. Its a $349 Smartwatch in its basic form, to add no further functionality but just change the materials and add number of different colours and straps does not make it luxury, maybe it does if you throw millions of $$$ of marketing budget at it?

In my eyes taking a Ford Fusion, replacing all the materials its made of, charging 48x the price but yet offer nothing in the way of performance gains over a standard one would not make it luxury, its still a Ford Fusion.

Dont get me wrong, I have ordered one, I love the product from what I've seen, just charging $17k for the Edition doesn't make it luxury, just expensive.

I'll await the backlash..... but remember - it is just my opinion ;)

Wow then Samsung's Galaxy must have been the biggest fail of all since they spent billions on that whole Next Big Thing™ campaign. And Microsoft must be admitting their Surface is a failure since they've spent over $400M in NFL product placement.

It totally depends on the company don't you think?

May I ask you then for an honest answer?

Do you really, honestly, hand on heart feel Apple had to do this, to try and make their watch be a successful product?
You feel all this needed this to be done to try and not have it fail for them?
