I love all the hate here, so amusing. Do people forget that the basic 16gb iPhone costs $649? You don't see that as most sign two-year contracts or have the carrier subsidize their phones, so to me $349 for this new tech and something that is of course made extremely well and from what I have seen is pretty darn sweet, take my money now.

I think I'd be nervous using it as my hotel room key. I'd be paranoid about the battery running low, so would be trying to avoid using the watch whilst out and about... In case I returned to the hotel and am unable to get back in my room! (Where the charger would be waiting...!)

I am glad I pre ordered a new Pebble Steel on Kickstarter last week. (will get ordering the Rose Gold colored with Red Strap.)

As much as I love Apple I can't see spending that kind of money only to have an Apple Watch 2 come out in a year or less that has more features, battery life etc that my First Generation watch can't do.

I don't want to have to upgrade my watch every year.

And to be honest with you the apps really don't seem that great to me. And a lot of what they showed I can do on my Pebble. About the only feature shown that I would like to have is to make calls from my watch.

BTW am I the only one who is disappointed that it appears the Macbook Pro 15 inch model is dead?

No Apple Pay announcement for the UK.

I'm interested in playing with one but I don't think I want to beta test it.

Any details on storage for any of the Apple Watches? Any specs? If someone has written about then I can't find it.

I don't know how Starwood's app is set up, but you'd probably be able to use your phone as a room key also. Mostly you'd use the watch, since it saves you from having to get your phone out of your pocket while carrying three suitcases and your take-away dinner clenched in your teeth. But if the watch happened to be out of juice, you still have a key on your phone.

You mean, the best selling Apple product also happens to be the one with subsidized costs? Oh my, what a coincidence

The Apple Watch will show us if Apple fanboys alone are enough to make a product successful. Because, without some kind of cost reduction like the iPhones have, no one will buy this thing and keep updating it year by year.

Yeah the hotel would never give you a key to your room if your Watch battery died. GOOD POINT!

So you don't want to upgrade a new watch every year and you bought a Pebble Time which has upgraded it's watch every year.

Genius.

Slick UI... however it seems to be overly complicated - but perhaps that just at first glance and it's easy to adapt to.

I'll be interested to read more about the hard push on the screen. Right now, (IE changing watch faces) - a similar action is taken. Only it's not a hard(er) press - it's just a long press. But based on the video - looks like the same effort/process.

I feel like the Apple watch has more to fiddle/play with vs the Android Wear I have been using. Both good and bad I think - at least from my perspective who really was only interested in a smart watch for simple notifications.

I like the fitness aspect of the watch but can't get over the abbreviated notifications. I like reading articles in full and seeing the entire webpage.

I can't even surf forums in mobile site on my phone. Desktop site for me, always.

Enjoy your Pebble :) I will enjoy my Apple Watch.

That watch is just pointless... Not stylish and it's not functional..

Some people taste in style is somewhat questionable...

Everyone loves to assume it will get updated 'yearly'.

Yes I know there are much more expensive watches in the world which people by but why such a price difference for a bit of gold when it doesn't do anything different and doesn't look any better?

Not to forget, your $17,000+ Watch may just go outdated as soon as next year (or as late as the year after).

forget next year... the looks of the watch is already outdated today! looks bleh. but hey, if people have the money, go for it. there's truth to the saying, "a fool and his money shall soon be parted."

And in just a few short weeks after the original iPhone was launched, Apple lowered the price by $200.

I kind of expect the same thing to happen with this watch. Maybe not by $200, but a price reduction of some sort.

Yeah, sure. As millions of these roll off the shelves...
