forget next year... the looks of the watch is already outdated today! looks bleh. but hey, if people have the money, go for it. there's truth to the saying, "a fool and his money shall soon depart."

Yeah! We can only wait till the next crop of Android wearables arrive (especially those that are iOS-compatible). There was a time when Apple used to dictate technical and design-oriented changes to Android and others. When it comes to wearables however, Apple may very well need to take a leaf or two from them for a change.

Aside from Tim Cook, the CEO of the largest company on Earth.

But thats like Blackberry CEO who have to use a Blackberry device ;)

And in just a few short weeks after the original iPhone was launched, Apple lowered the price by $200.

I kind of expect the same thing to happen with this watch. Maybe not by $200, but a price reduction of some sort.
It could happen, but probably not as soon as they did for the original iPhone.

Today they reduced the price of the Apple TV from $99 to $69.

I like the :apple:watch a lot but what kills for me is the water resistance aspect. I need something waterproof for swimming and surfing and I use my Omega basically 24/7 without thinking about.
Hopefully the next versions they can address that.
This^^^ if it's not waterproof to a basic 20', I would only wear it at night when I go to sleep. To go through all the precision aspects shown in their videos, how about a 100' depth? I can take my basic camera 40'-50' down freediving and know I have a spare 20'. You can't even shower with it.

How long did it take for the mac mini to get upgraded? Apple TV? Mac Pro? Never assume apple products are updated every year. Only when it makes sense to do so. I predict apple watch will not be upgraded for a couple years.

Enjoy your Pebble :) I will enjoy my Apple Watch.

Some people taste in style is somewhat questionable...

Everyone loves to assume it will get updated 'yearly'.

I am glad I pre ordered a new Pebble Steel on Kickstarter last week. (will get ordering the Rose Gold colored with Red Strap.)

I remember when Kickstarter used to be used for funding startups, and not pre-ordering things.

BTW am I the only one who is disappointed that it appears the Macbook Pro 15 inch model is dead?

It's not dead, it's just that Intel hasn't released their quad-core Broadwell chips yet.

I think I'd be nervous using it as my hotel room key. I'd be paranoid about the battery running low, so would be trying to avoid using the watch whilst out and about... In case I returned to the hotel and am unable to get back in my room! (Where the charger would be waiting...!)

If that's the case just show your ID To the front desk and get a traditional keycard. It's not much to worry about. Now house keys, you may want to carry them with you still and you just have the convenience of not having to take it out, like your wallet and Apple Pay

Was watching NBC national news while preparing dinner.

The watch was 'featured' as if it came right out of apple's marketing department. Graphics with all the levels of pricing...

You don't see that with ANY OTHER COMPANY. How did apple pull that one off? NBC owned by Time Warner???

So there's such a thing as an iPhone owner who doesn't know about the Apple Watch?

I have met dozens of iPhone users that are not aware you can back up the phone to a computer or to iCloud. They found out after they lost the data.

So, yeah.

I just like that every video on youtube starts by asking the viewers the critical question "what's up guys?", as if we can answer them back and strike up a conversation.

I dunno, you're the one filming the video, why don't you tell me what's up?

Perhaps they aren't just faking sincerity & friendliness, and really do want to know what is up with their viewers, & are just waiting for us to put our recent goings-on in an email and send it to them to ponder.

Yes, I am this bored at this very moment.

Seriously, is this the first ever Apple product that even hard core Apple fans have hard time digesting? Maybe it's the 17K Apple Edition or $450 steel braclet that is pushing it too far but seriously if this is reaction from fans then how is the average consumer going to react?

You should go read the old iPhone/iPad annoucement threads on here

The reason why many people here believe that the Watch will be refreshed sooner is also because wearable tech is the new buzzword in the market these days. A lot of companies are entering this brand new category - more so because now the mighty Apple has entered as well. With Android taking it one step ahead - making their Android Wear OS compatible with Android as well as the iOS, Apple may need to adapt with the evolving technology in order to be a frontrunner amongst the competition.

can it even do anything without a phone? like tell time?
Yes. Store music, play music, store photo, watch photo, fitness tracking, calander, maps. Plus more later as developers develope native apps.

It needs iphone for GPS, wifi, cell connection. ... And more processor intensive tasks !

Trolls have a hard time digesting..
And they would like to leave the impression that everyone does!

That would be insane. Wearable devices are in their infancy are therefore developing extremely fast pace. If Apple doesn't update Apple Watch within a year they will be left hopelessly behind.

Tap - contact,
Double Tap - Apple Pay,
Slide Up - feature cards,
Slide Down - notifications,
Slap Right - Johnny,
Slap left - Ives,

Ever since ios 7, Apple has been overly obsessed with hidden/unnatural UX triggers.

What's up with the 'your old grandma can use without mannual'? I had to face confused parents every time Apple brought update to something nowadays.
