forget next year... the looks of the watch is already outdated today! looks bleh. but hey, if people have the money, go for it. there's truth to the saying, "a fool and his money shall soon depart."

Depart for where... New Jersey?

I believe you meant "will soon be parted."

You guys, Tim said it will be "only" $350, with the bigger size being "only" $50 more. So.... see??... not that expensive.

It seems like cramming in all that stuff into a smaller version would be harder. Why not charge more for the little one? :D

Seriously, is this the first ever Apple product that even hard core Apple fans have hard time digesting? Maybe it's the 17K Apple Edition or $450 steel braclet that is pushing it too far but seriously if this is reaction from fans then how is the average consumer going to react?

MacRumors hates pretty much everything, so I wouldn't say the reaction here has much bearing on what the average consumer thinks.

Either way, I don't think sales will take off until the 2nd gen Apple Watch comes out.

I took a job break so I can camp out Apple Store so I can buy the apple watch. Do you think I'm crazy ? Sure I am lol. Nah I just use my citzen watch that charges by light. Lol ッ miss you steve jobs. God bless you

i really liked the steel link but absolutely refuse to fork over 500 dollars for a band.

so it's sports model for me, Thanks Apple for making my decision so much easier.

Has any review gotten a look at the Nike+ app yet? I'm wondering whether it's possible to change the fields displayed (lap time, average pace, cadence, things like that) and, even more important, how accurate (or inaccurate) it is when used without an iphone (so accelerometer only, no gps).

The smart watch simply has no real use compared to other devices. You can live comfortably without a smart watch. You can in fact live pretty good without even a watch.

Look at all the devices apple hasn't updated for a few years? one thing is in common with all of them. They don't sell a lot of them. Apple is not going to sell a lot of smart watches for the same reason apple doesn't sell a lot of mac pros.

You can live comfortably not getting a mac pro and getting an imac instead. Or a macbook pro. The mac mini isn't even a good seller if I recall.

Apple watch is no exception. Apple will update this product as new technology comes out but it's a watch right? What new tech could there possibly be? Battery. It'll be a couple years before apple can get a better battery.

That would be insane. Wearable devices are in their infancy are therefore developing extremely fast pace. If Apple doesn't update Apple Watch within a year they will be left hopelessly behind.

And this is Why..........

Tim Cook has no backbone or he would have told Johnny " are you fricken stupid a watch ??
This is what happens when the hen house losses it's rooster !!
RIP STEVE !!
Want to save Apple ? Fire Cook !! Hire Woz !!

Judging by the videos i think that Android Wear is much cleaner and simpler to use. This Apple watch wants to have everything yet it doesnt have anything..

They've pretty much included everything right down to the weekly health report that my Gear S watch does BUT my Gear S watch doesn't need my phone. I can leave my phone at home and still get my phones notifications, calls and texts right on the watch.

I'll probably still get this watch just so I have a watch that works with my iPhone.

Tap - contact,
Double Tap - Apple Pay,
Slide Up - feature cards,
Slide Down - notifications,
Slap Right - Johnny,
Slap left - Ives,

Ever since ios 7, Apple has been overly obsessed with hidden/unnatural UX triggers.

What's up with the 'your old grandma can use without mannual'? I had to face confused parents every time Apple brought update to something nowadays.

This is what I was getting at my post. The watch (granted I haven't used one) seems overly complicated vs the LG G watch I have which is simple/straightforward.

Perhaps a more powerful OS, but between the native "apps" and what developers can/will do - it seams like a decent learning curve. I am sure one can get used to it - like with everything. But it might turn some people off at the get-go

And thats it? I mean, thats it? I'm sure the apple watch is cool and usefull to speed up some "daily smartphone task" in our "Internet second life" we costantly live everyday, but thats it? I mean, I saw the videos, readed 100 of topics here, but now I understand I don't need one: It gives nothing really "new" at this moment than just a speed up of few seconds to check notifications and thats it, the sport apps have sense, but for 350+ € for me in europe it's waaaaayy too much. I don't need it just because "I don't need it" thats it, nothing is gonna change my life out of that watch.

I'd just like to buy one in the future for my mom in case, because as a present it looks nice, but to buy one on my own for me at that price, it's Overkill

A market with very limited use cases. I think companies are gambling a losing battle. It's a fad for now. Yes it grew 10 fold but it'll pass and die out like any other fad.

The company that can make a real need use case for a smart watch will win the market. Apple has an idea to use it with health kit, medical research, and medical ID. Is that the direction to take the smart watch is for your health? Maybe.

Point is: Smart watches have no direction. No one has a clue where to take it besides Apple. Apple has an idea. Everyone else is kind of just throwing a bunch of crap in the smart watch and hoping it sticks.

The reason why many people here believe that the Watch will be refreshed sooner is also because wearable tech is the new buzzword in the market these days. A lot of companies are entering this brand new category - more so because now the mighty Apple has entered as well. With Android taking it one step ahead - making their Android Wear OS compatible with Android as well as the iOS, Apple may need to adapt with the evolving technology in order to be a frontrunner amongst the competition.

I'm laughing because I only paid $79 for my cheap black plastic LG G watch. And from the looks of it it works much better than the cluttered mess I'm seeing right now. That home screen is a disaster and you have a confusing crown and button to contend with.
Apple tried too hard in adding the kitchen sink to this thing thus forgetting that you have a capable iPhone in your pocket. It appears that they really want you to use this instead of the iPhone. Makes little sense.

I'm getting the feeling Apple will want people to hold onto their investment. Watches may likely be updated as often as a Mac Pro. I'm expecting Apple Watch 2 to appear in 2018.

Heh. "A fool and his money shall soon depart" sounds like a something that should be on a plaque above every Duty Free Shop worldwide.

Nice to see another LG G watch user understand the concept. I now have a greater appreciation for Android Wear and hopefully Google will continue to make the platform better and not overly complicated.
The majority of my actions with my LG G watch is swapping right to dismiss the card. Left for more options. Dead simple if you ask me.
