Intersting to see if people are buying this watch to actually use as it's intended or if they're buying because of the strap. If it's the latter, there's no judgement because it's a fine/high-quality strap (people do wear leather bangles), why wouldn't you just get a classic Hermes watch that costs $2,600 CAD that would not age at all?

The Double Tour is the only true "women"s" Apple Watch, which is why it is only in the 38mm (and why it is the only one with the cappucine and bleu jean colors). It is available in two different sizes of band, though.
I'm not looking for the spec sheet details, I'm questioning the business decision telling me I can't have a double tour band with a 42 mm sized watch.

I have an Apple watch and love it, but even if I wanted the Hermes watch I wouldn't purchase it now with a new watch rumored to be coming out this year, maybe as early as April.

Probably because Apple and Hermes concluded it would be too big for its target market and wouldn't sell in large enough volumes to be worthwhile. The Double Tour dates back from the 1990s Cape Cod, which is a very small watch intended for small wrists. As I said, it's the only true "women's" model (along with the rose gray leather and red Edition watches, which are also available only in the 38mm case).

While Apple isn't saying it publicly, all "feminine" designs are in 38mm only (e.g. the Modern buckle). All "masculine" designs are 42mm only (Cuff). Unisex designs are available in both sizes (hence the Single Tour is in both, the same as the Classic, Sport, Milanese Loop, and Link).

Er, Watch Hermes is not new, it's just being offered for sale online now. I don't get what's so upsetting to people.

According to Mark Gurman we might see new bands or new partnerships this spring but no new watch until the fall.

Seriously.. Who is going to buy this nearly 12 months into Watch 1 cycle?

12 months? Watch 1 didn't go on sale until mid to late April. If anything this tells me Watch 2 is not going to a radical redesign and the bands from Watch 1 will work with Watch 2.

After two weeks I had to pass it on to the next poor schmuck before it drove me insane ... the constant tap tap tap on my wrist, annoying crown and navigation features made me really hate the product. it even fails horribly as a fitness watch and even worse as a hyped fashion item.

if it just had some sort of stand-a-lone function that could get me excited and make me believe that only 3 generations from now it would be "incredible" unfortunately it´s more that likely people will still be chained to a 4 or 5 inch iphone a couple of years from now.

I've been saying that since these smartwatches were first introduced. Thankfully a company was listening to my ply as one by the name of Kario has introduced such a watch. Though it quite doesn't have the app collection the Apple Watch has, it contains everything that I could possibly need. The Kario is mechanical watch with an LCD display overlay and it's even quite nice looking with many styles to choose from, I bought the silver one you see below. There is also a smart-band option available that adds even more functionality, you can also buy the T-Band, the name of the smart-band, separately and add it to another third party watch, I have one on my Tag Huer Monaco. Anyway, check them out, I absolutely love mine and unlike these other smartwatches, you don't have to charge it every night, in fact it lasts between 3 - 4 days. This has got to be the biggest problem I had with my Apple Watch before returning it, I just couldn't own a watch that doesn't last at least a few days, let alone a full day. Which is what I experienced with my Apple Watch before I returned it, not once did it make it through an entire day with what I believed to be moderate use.

the fact that the tech is integrated into the watch itself still makes it susceptible to obsolescence though.
which is the whole point of getting a mechanical watch, the timelessness of it.
This is why I think a cheap fitbit + a nice mechanical watch is still the way to go.

Your review seems really credible, as the whole story sounds really believable. Would love to write longer reply, but those damn unicorns are running wild in my garden.....

You hit the nail right on the head... I have a friend who knows a friend who has a second cousin who didn't like the apple watch so they gave to me and I hated it. Who would buy one of these things? Why would Apple make one and take over the market share in 6 months? Let's call anyone who buys an Apple Watch some degrading name. Stupid Apple made about a billion dollars in 9 months selling the crappy apple watch. How dare they do this? Steve Cook has grown Apple to the largest company in the world and donates all of his money to charities... the nerve. Apple Mac's are growing in sales while every other PC maker is shrinking... terrible marketing skills.

My favorite is the people who hate the watch use degrading comments to people who buy the watch as if their opinion is important or even matters. LOL Apple laughs all the way to the bank and investors in the past 15 years do the same. Finally Apple is down 18% but only up about 200% since Cook took over.

What is with that mobius-strip band, man? I don't even understand what i'm looking at. Does it go back around the wrist a second time, and overlap itself to buckle up?
It wraps around the wrist twice. It's for women. Hermes has sold a similarly designed quartz watch for about 20 years now.

Am I missing something or is the only thing different the band and the digital watch face? Is there a jailbreak scene for the Apple Watch? Because if there is, you can have your Hermes watch for no additional cost.

Regardless if there was a jailbreak or not. You're not buying for the watch/face, you're buying largely for the band.

These bands are soaked in the tears of crying hungry children in development countrys:) make them RED... then I atleast could look at someone wearing then as little less an *******.
New bragging rights of the rich is how many people died to make their new toy.

Not exactly the best looking watch yet, but I like the idea of the screen over a mechanical watch.

A couple years ago I bought a pair of black suede boots for $250. I love them wear them all the time but the wear and tear is starting to become more and more noticeable. This might be the last year I get out of them. But I got three years of enjoyment so it was worth it. This idea that something has little to no value because it doesn't last forever is ridiculous. I have lots of expensive things in my closet that I never wear anymore because they've gone out of style. But I don't consider them wasted purchases. I have an Watch now. I probably will get the new one when it comes out and hand mine down or sell it. It won't be a wasted purchase because I've gotten enjoyment and value out of the device the entire time I've been using it.

I find those straps naff.

Taste is a funny thing. Steve Jobs had it. Microsoft don't. Neither does Tim Cook.

If Apple brought out a hybrid mechanical round watch with a digital overlay, I might be interested.
You mean that unkempt unshaven hippy, what was his nickname again.

As reported earlier in the week, the special edition Apple Watch Hermès collection today became available for purchase online, letting customers purchase the high-end editions from the online storefronts of both Apple and Hermès. The collection comes in ten models, all branching off of three band varieties -- the Single Tour, Double Tour, and Cuff -- and was introduced by Apple at its September iPhone event.

Each model of the Hermès collection includes a stainless steel Apple Watch case, and gives users a unique Hermès clock face for the wearable device. The pricing for the collection begins with the Single Tour band for $1,100, Double Tour for $1,250, and Cuff for $1,500. The Single Tour is the only one of the collection available in both 38mm and 42mm case sizes, with the Double Tour exclusively sold in 38mm and the Cuff only available in 42mm.

To purchase one of the Apple Watches in the Hermès collection, visit the online store of Apple or Hermès.

[doublepost=1453620142][/doublepost]I would like to see a sterling silver Apple Watch (it's about 40 times cheaper than gold). I think gold is gaudy and $12k is ridiculous. A sterling watch with an optional sterling link bracelet.

I'm torn on this move.. they're putting Hermes' logo over theirs.
All in a bid to become more legitimate in the fashion scene.
While this decision does seem a little desperate on Apple's part, it's a move they can make without consequences. Now being the 800 lb. Gorilla they are, Apple is immune to the outcome of any side project as small as this.
