Hell, seem to be a lot of sartorial experts on here all of a sudden. Not something you expect on a tech forum.

This is for men, right? I'm trying to think of any leather bands that will look good with women's formal wear, and coming up blank.

The $17,000 Edition models with the Modern Buckle?
Ultimately, I'm sorry I got off track. My point of all of this was simply to say that I don't think the Cuff is really any sportier than the standard Fauve Barenia single/double tour.
Hmmmmm. No idea if I'd wear that with a formal dress. At a minimum, dress would have to match the color of the leather, I suppose.
No, far, far away from NY. This was in San Francisco, CA.Was this the upper east side store?
Which store? Did they take you into the area where they sell the Editions? On Day 1, that's how they did things at the UES. The associates had no clue what they got in stock (it sounds like Apple needs to do a better job there), but the people were helpful. It wasn't the kind of experience I'm used to at stores like Tiffany or Burberry, but they tried to make it a little better than a typical Apple Store sale.
In the world of watches, any leather strap with contrast stitching and a non-glossy finish is generally considered more sporty/casual than formal. None of the Apple Hermes straps are formal.
Milanese bands, which have a history in diving, and steel bracelets are also not considered formal. They're casual, although has become more en vogue to wear Submariners and other sport watches with dressy attire.
Agreed, these are sporty, and not to be worn in a suit for example.
Yes you can wear it with a suit, but I think it looks better without a tie AND with a matching Hermes buckle in business casual or jeans.
It is just a different look that I don't think goes with formal or black tie event.
Sure:
You can wear it as a single tour too by removing the cuff.Is it me or could you wear it without the cuff with a bit of wiggling?

It is the MOST comfortable watch I have worn.So does the cuff do anything other than make it look different? I mean, does it make it more comfortable to wear, or make it more stable, or anything like that?
It is the MOST comfortable watch I have worn.
I'm usually not a fan of leather, but Hermes leather is on another level.
I thought the cuff would be too wide as I have very small wrists. I thought it would look weird. But it is not an issue. The watch is more stable than Apple's bands and much softer than Apple's leather band. I haven't tried Apple's classic buckle, but can't imagine it be more comfortable.
It is also narrow enough that I can tuck it under a shirt sleeve, which I thought I wouldn't be able to do.
It is one of the most beautiful and comfortable watches I have bought.
Oh OK.That is great, but my question was, what is the difference between wearing wth the cuff, and without the cuff (as a single tour)?
Oh OK.
Well, it is a lot more stable, it is also warmer and I wouldn't say it is softer, but since there is more leather touching the skin, I would say you are feeling more leather that is soft.
Regarding stability, the cuff won't slide. I am not wearing that tight (it doesn't leave a mark) and it just doesn't move.
It is a warm cuff. I am sure in warm weathers (90+F or 26+C) my wrist would sweat. I feel like a tennis player wearing this like a wrist warmer.
