"All orders placed through May, with the sole exception of Apple Watch 42 mm Space Black Stainless Steel with Space Black Link Bracelet, will ship to customers within two weeks."

I assume he's talking about actual Watch orders? Because I ordered a standalone milanese loop on April 30th and it's not quoted to be delivered until June 22-29...

The statement was made to hold people off other watches.
Uh...talk about making no sense. What held me off from other watches was that none of the ads showing me what they could do interested me. I had zip, zilch, nada interest in a smart watch.

But when I saw the ads for the Apple Watch, THEN I got interested. I don't get why people don't understand this because Apple does it, again and again. (1) They hold off on something to, as said, check out the pitfalls and what not to do, and (2) they always show customers how the device could be useful to them in their daily lives. It may do many of the things their competitors devices do, but those competitors often fail to advertise that.

And, (3) they try to make the device handsome as well as functional. Whether you think they succeeded in that with the watch is up to you, but it is well designed.

So long Siri isn't available in my language, I dont even care when they release this watch where I live. Hopefully this product will speed up their language support.

Apple is really giving no love for Norway. It's been quite nice to be Swedish Apple fan lately though.

Not really sure of the importance of Mexico or Taiwan to the AW marketing drive to make it part of the 2nd wave launch.
Taiwan is a major economic player and growing with a standard of living pretty much equal to the west. For a young, adventurous westerner, I'd say the motto should be "Go East, young man/woman". The only real drawback to Taiwan (or south korea), IMO, is that you have a neighbor that is just one 'bad morning' away from really $*&@ing up your day. But short of going penguin, we all have that in some way.

Strange that they did add the language support for Siri for Swedish and Danish, but skipped Norwegian. Hope they announce Norwegian on WWDC. As far as I know have there been job listings at Apple in regards of getting Siri to speak Norwegian, so I'm hoping it's going to happen soon.

Getting my watch to Norway from the US soon, but it would be so much cooler if I could speak in my native language to Siri.

I saw it in action and it made me realize that I definitely don't need this product. It's extremely underwhelming for Apple.

Huge effect on sales since folks can't actually buy the product. If you are going to order online anyway, then why go to the store? But also this product is one that many people currently don't believe they want. However, they will eventually change their mind. They just have to see the watch in action and here how it works from their friends. The price though is still pretty darn high for this level of functionality. But Apple is playing a long game here. Gen 2 will be a much better device and it will sell for the same dollar prices. By Gen 3 this device will be very very compelling. Apple wants to make sure were are used to spending top dollar for it though.

Mexico does confuse me. There must be some buyer demographic data that suggests these watches are selling briskly among the Hispanic/Latino populations.

you'd be surprised, not everyone in Mexico is poor. there is a great deal of personal wealth in individual citizens in Mexico, though sometimes (read: more often than not) through corrupt dealings, etc.... a

Siri understands Swedish and Danish. The difference between Norwegian and Swedish / Danish is not very big. Did you try already?
Im using swedish right now. To be fair, Im getting quote good at it. Still a little to weird for public usage though. Danish isnt close at all though, so thats not an option.

Oh, I'm not surprised that people in Mexico can afford watches. I know everyone's not poor. I was just thinking it was interesting that the Watch would be faster to launch there than some other Apple products. There's absolutely some demographic data driving this decision. Markets are fascinating. :)

Taiwan has some very wealthy areas with buyers whose profiles are similar to Chinese mainland buyers.

Man you should urgentyl travel and read urgently.
Italy (Rome, Milan) & Spain (Madrid): Ranking world fashion capitals
Singapore: Gadget hungry and wealthy population
S. Korea: Home of Samsung
Switzerland: World watch capital

What are you talking about? I'm a woman, for one thing. I am aware of the demographics of Taiwan because I have relatives from Taiwan. I think I'm on target regarding the need for rollout in that country.

I did find Mexico surprising as a next-wave country, but I don't find it surprising because I think people in Mexico cannot afford watches or anything weird like that.

It just sounds like the Apple Watch itself is really taking off among people in that nation's buying demographic. Which is very cool, but there are people all over the world in countries that can also afford and would enjoy a watch, but Apple isn't rolling out to them yet, so it's not like Apple is saying they think those people are too broke for a watch. It's a BUSINESS DECISION.

Geez. No need to get your knickers in a twist. I do travel. I have traveled. Travel has little to do with knowing whether the residents of a given country should be part of the 2nd wave of the Apple Watch rollout... or the first... or the third.

I read. I have a Master's degree, for crying out loud. I'm not unaware of the social habits of people in other countries. I really was just discussing business motives.

So, none of the Scandinavian Countries this time around. Thats unusual. I guess Apple is shifting the priorities of the markets. ....disappointed :(

Very dissapointing indeed!:(
Apple behaves more and more like Netflix and HBO. Releasing new products/services/movies in selected countries only, while ignoring the rest of the world for weeks and months, thinking they can get away with it without negative comments.

The 25% VAT will make it too expensive for most people so sales will probably be quite low.
The once who really want one can almost fly to the US for the price of the VAT :)

Comment makes no sense!
If the 25% VAT makes for low sales then there is zero ( 0 ) reason why the Apple Watch is not available in the Scandinavian countries, as the few watches sold would barely be visible in Apple inventory list anyways.
Please tell me where I can get a flight NO-US-NO for ~USD 150 (25% of USD 599).. ;)

Little love from Apple to the Norwegian potential customers, sadly!
- Siri (a Norwegian name) does not speak Norwegian.
- No Apple Retail Store.
- No Predictive spell in iOS.
- Late iPhone, iPad and Watch releases.
- ....

Punishment for being top 5 in GDP per capita and among the first to take on new technology, maybe?
Oh well!

Damn, hopefully they will catch up to the demand in the other countries first, still waiting for mine :D
Hopefully, you'll have the same luck I did:
Ordered 4/24, estimated delivery date: Late June
5/8(ish): Estimated delivery date: 5-6 weeks
5/15(ish): Estimated delivery date: June 22-29
5/25: Estimated delivery date: June 16-22
6/1: It shipped! Confirmed delivery date: June 2
6/2: Arrived

If not, I'd just go in and buy one, then cancel the one on order.

And New Zealand...........? Classically has always been a 2nd wave country! Interesting strategy, Apple!?!?!?

I'm in the same state as Apple, can't even get one. You people can take a number and wait :D
I wonder what models will they have in the stores.

My guess:

38mm Sport (perhaps not the SG at first)
38mm SS WSB, BSB, Classic Buckle.

Apple probably doesn't want to open a store in Norway or similar rich countries because they'd have to treat their employees properly.
Anyway, just do a weekend in Berlin, London, Paris, etc. It's hard to feel sorry for you living in Australia.

That makes absolute sense! Especially here in New Zealand where the minimum wage is $14.75 an hour!!! Hence, no Apple stores!

He he, you're probably right about employee treatment.
There are no shortage of Apple dealers around Oslo, but none quite on par with stores owned by Apple themselves. I am heading to Berlin in a month - you never know what I bring back... Visited 5th Avenue Store in NYC two years back and brought back some goodies.
