So what is the point of releasing this chunky looking watch with the launch so far out?

I think he means the textures & overall look...the watch with its shininess kind of looks like the first iPhone or older ipod touch...a step back so to speak in design. I guess there is the sport version with anodized aluminum too...but still this thing is pretty thick.

Yeah, we know how poorly that darn ugly Iphone did; real poorly, nobody bought it. Also, you should compare it to watches actually wear, not just phones.

BTW, The main body 10mm plus a round smaller 1.5mm divit that embeds in the wrist (if you see people wear it); so 10mm sticks out, smaller than what sticks out of any other. If you take the smallest one and compare it to any of the others you'd see how small it really is.

Unless there is some breakthrough in battery technology, I'm not going to buy any smartwatches.

I see a bigger market in the after-market modding community. However, the fussy digital crown (heh look at me) makes its use as a Star Trek-wearable less viable. But it has an acceptable appeal as a Dick Tracey cosplay toy.

Just like the iPhone it is going to be about the third party apps.

What are developers going to come up with?

My wish is for a certain app I use for dance classes called Tempo SlowMo

It's a music player app that lets you adjust the speed of a song. It's great.

But I would LOVE the ability to start and restart a song from your wrist... instead of walking over to the sound system in the corner of the room dozens of times during a class.

I know plenty of dance teachers who would be interested in this kind of functionality from the Apple Watch.

The iPad/iPhone has already replaced CD players for almost every dance studio I come in contact with... and I can see the Apple Watch being a very popular accessory for dance teachers.

I can not imagine what segment of users will buy this. For folks who wear watches as an accessory... they aren't going to move away from their Rolexes. For folks who want health related stuff tracked, there are cheaper options available. There simply can't be a value that the watch will provide being a part of an ecosystem that's worth 350 bucks.

Edit - But then hey... Apple knows what I want better than I do I guess

I'm not a fan of it either. I'll add something... it's too recognizable. Imagine wearing one, it screams Apple fanboy. Admittedly I am one but that's not something I want to advertise.

What does your iPhone scream when you're using it?

Very intrigued about it.
Yet to decide if buy or not.

Who the hell cares about what silly people think?
Just use what fits your tastes.

The watch itself doesnt look as nice as the Moto 360
but the different combinations e.g. straps, makes this super fashionable and stylish.

Also, the user interface seems to look really solid.

As usual, I'll not be the early adopters, because I feel like the 2nd version always looks better than the first.

(e.g. 2nd Macbook Pro version, iPhone 3G, iPad 2...)

The timeframe given is slightly more specific than Apple's own launch projection of "early next year"

I am sorry but how is this more specific? Apple said early next year and Angela says Spring (Spring is early to mid)!! If anything they are pushing the launch. If they were going to launch on lets say May or June 2015, I can't see how that can be early!!

ummm, I was hoping for a february release...

I think a lot of people are going to need to try it before they buy it. I just hope the wait time isn't ridiculous as the iPhone 6. Although it will probably we worst :(

Wow this is very unlike apple. Usually when a device is announced its available in less than a month. The longest wait was the very first iPhone which took about 6 months. When the 1st iPad was introduced it took about 2 months to be available. The iPad mini took less than month. Seems that the apple watch is a step backwards, they shouldn't have announced it unless they were ready.

The Mac Pro had a very long wait as well. It's pretty typical of Apple and this is arguably their most difficult product from both a hardware and software engineering project.

Let me stop you right there. Let's look at traditional watches starting from $300 like Chronograph Seiko Kinetic or Citizen EcoDrive up to Bulova, Movado and Tag. I would say $349 Apple watch worths every penny for its functions and benefits.
