By that time, Samsung will have released 25 Galaxy Devices.

Probably closer to 50 devices knowing samsung, but the fact will be that one Apple watch will probably make Apple more money then all 50 new devices Samsung will launch....

----------

I'm not a fan of it either. I'll add something... it's too recognizable. Imagine wearing one, it screams Apple fanboy. Admittedly I am one but that's not something I want to advertise.

Do you live in South Korea and afraid you will beaten by Samsung employees/users/ceo ?

Are you asserting that people who wear watches as an accessory ONLY wear Rolexes? And is it your further assertion that people who monitor their health are also always aiming for the cheapest way to do so? And finally, are you asserting that you absolutely know (by your declarative statement) that there's no value at all here for anyone based on the price point, which means you know how people should spend their money?

As for your edit, you did get that correct. Apple does tend to know better than people what they want. That's been a signature of theirs for quite a while.

Wow... You must be fun at parties . Talk about passive aggressive !

And I ASSERT that there apple has never had such a signature.... It's actually fact.

Whenever they finally release it, I am sure the first gen users will be happy.

In the meantime the wait will only result in added publicity.

software delays, huh?

honestly i thought the software looked like ****. it looked like an early version of gtk or something. everything outside of the home screen was kinda janky

You'll know who has one, they will keep there hands in their pocket or sleeves covering the watch LOL

I like the idea of an Apple watch but I only just bough my first iPad so I don't know if I have a use for an Apple watch in the near future, though the price is good for the base model considering the insane prices some pay of some watches which are just watches.

Let me stop you right there. Let's look at traditional watches starting from $300 like Chronograph Seiko Kinetic or Citizen EcoDrive up to Bulova, Movado and Tag. I would say $349 Apple watch worths every penny for its functions and benefits.

I'm no watch guy, but watch enthusiasts have said that Apple watch is better designed than anything in the price range range.

I still dont understand why I would want this product???

Im a die hard Apple fan in general and I buy pretty much everything coming from Cuppertino...
Yeah Cuppertino makes some good things.
Mainly, cups.

I've only owned 2 watches in my adult lifetime.
One is a 21st present and now broken, the other an iPod nano.
I want it for fitness, to tell the time, and that's about it.
But its enough for me. I won't buy a second or third version.
Tracking running, walking, etc and measuring heartbeat will be handy to know how intense my fitness levels are. Good enough for me.

Well isn't that why anyone buys a watch... They're jewlery. They provide little to no utility .

The utility of Apple Watch blows that of traditional watch out of a the water, but obviously people expecting a smartphone on their wrist won't be impressed by Apple Watch.

Every watch I see these days beyond the Apple Watch price mark, and I mean in the thousands, is literally just a watch. Who wants something for that price that just tells the time? Not I, said the duck.

Yeah, the shiny part I like. I would love an apple jewelry, actually a regular apple watch would be nice. But buying a watch, particularly the edition serie in gold on a watch you need to charge daily and which will probably within a year be out of date and with even shorter battery life just brings a bad taste in my mouth.

If they are jewelry, they are really low jewelry level.. And I'll continue to wear my seamaster...
BTW I think that spring will be quite late for starting the product: Apple looses Christmas holidays and Chinese new year. They'll have to wait for almost another year before having a huge mass-sell. But this is my personal prediction...

I suspect that the components in Apple Watch may be upgradable. Recall that the system on a chip is in one encapsulated module. An Apple Technician should hopefully be able to replace it (along with the sensors, battery and screen) with a more up to date revision. This is how many watch battery are replaced at the end of their life, so Apple doing this wouldn't be unprecedented.

Also I havs a hard time believing that Apple is selling a $5,000 watch that has no way to replace battery or other components

Of course its low level jewlery... Its $350. That's about as low as you can get for a decent watch.

Damn that Seamaster is handsome

----------

Pricing is what I'm interested in. The "$349" model will just barely scratch the surface. I expect $500+ for the models people actually want and $1000s for the high-end units.

My prediction:

$350 - Apple Watch Sport
$600 - Apple Watch
$5,000 - Apple Watch Edition

I'm also expecting Apple to release many design variations of Apple Watch each year. These are highly personal devices; one design isn't appropriate for all. This may be why Apple has been expanding its design team recently.

Just what Apple fans need. A watch added to the continual upgrade cycle alongside laptops, iMacs, iPads, and iphone.

I've been an Apple fan & user before it was cool to be one...and I hope the iwatch does well for them. But I don't see myself getting one, and I just have a bad feeling that it's gonna be a flop. Hope I'm wrong. Just don't think its gonna be a big seller.

The Mac Pro had a very long wait as well. It's pretty typical of Apple and this is arguably their most difficult product from both a hardware and software engineering project.

Yes, Apple being bitched out because its probably about 1 month behind expectations (6 months) when they didn't specify a date in the first place...

And for only US$20, you'l be able to get...

And for only US$20, you'll be able to get one of any number of counterfeit versions which are soon to appear. Each will look very much like an Apple Watch, just like there are closely faked Rolex watches which cost a tiny fraction of the real thing.

Illegal? Sure, if they have fake Apple labels or are falsely sold as real Apple merchandise.

But illegality hasn't stopped fakes of many different expensive watch brands, and it won't stop Apple fakes either.

Would I buy one? Of course not. But I've no doubt that they are plenty of less scrupulous people who won't hesitate to hand over a little money to get a fake watch to help provide a fake presentation of themselves.

The result? Having a real Apple Watch to show off how hip or how wealthy you are just won't work that well if any bum can get a fake which looks the same.

The whole Android watch business has only been around the last three years as a laughable attempt to preempt the Apple Watch based on rumors.

I'm pretty sure that those things are just written to try to start a flame bait. Not even you can believe such nonsense.

Considering the machining of aluminium, stainless steel I doubt you'd get one for $20, possibly $50, and certainly not one that does anything for $20 or even $50. The Fake rolexes are total crap even from afar let alone if you actually handle them!! (though I hate the Rolex styling so that's not saying much).

You sound like Apple watch is only able to tell time which is only 1% of what's the it is intended to be. Don't compare it which your pathetic watch which doesn't do anything but tells time. Does yours track fitness, navi., compatible w Apple Pay, control devices, and tons of other shtts?

Don’t be so shortsighted. My watch, (a Citizen Aqualand), is one that I can go diving with for instance. The battery lasts eons compared to the Apple watch. It was designed years ago yet has these amazing qualities.

For that use case the Apple watch is less than pathetic.

I was in Beijing last year where they have specialized malls for counterfitting. I have seen Rolexes, Pateks and anything else you could think up that were extremely convincing (even containing sapphire glass!!!). They sold them at an entry price of $800! I wasn't interested in buying so left the store and they came after me to negotiate. I didn't even say a word and the price was already down to $20. Still didn't buy. In my group about 10 people bought a watch and only one was still running after a week (it still is). They did look very very real though...

The Breitlings they had were so exquisitely made that you could only tell from the font they used for the dial, which was just a littlebit off.
