Might be just me, but am I the only one who thinks Apple has better hardware for their smart watch, but Google seems to have better UI & software for their's?
Just you. Rational people would hold off judgment considering that Watch OS is still in Alpha while Android Wear is a proven market failure. Only the foolish judge things they haven't even tried.

And people here will claim they copied Apple.

people everywhere should stop claiming anyone copied anyone else. the R&D for everything being put out for the next 4-5 years at least have been on development for the last 4-5 years. this 'copying' nonsense is like watching 5 toddlers learn their first words and take their first steps while random adults bicker over which one's parents were inspired by the other.

toddlers gonna toddle.

I can not imagine what segment of users will buy this. For folks who wear watches as an accessory... they aren't going to move away from their Rolexes. For folks who want health related stuff tracked, there are cheaper options available. There simply can't be a value that the watch will provide being a part of an ecosystem that's worth 350 bucks.

Edit - But then hey... Apple knows what I want better than I do I guess
I can't imagine what segment of users will buy this. Whose going to pay $500 for a phone? For folks who wear phones for productivity... they aren't going to move away from their BBs. For folks who want smart stuff, there are cheaper options available, like Symbian.

hmm...i know this is kinda unfair to say cause i'd like the apple watch to be great and all but what about mac os x?
i am sad because they will release the next mac os in a year with a few little changes again cause they need all their devs for the watch os and ios... :(
What about it? Are you talking about the OS X that Apple now updates every single year, their fastest rate ever? Or is your "mac os x" some other product?

LOL. What product do you think Samsung worked on for 4-5 years? They regularly whip crap together in a couple months depending on what their competitors make. Same thing with Xiaomi. The whole Android watch business has only been around the last three years as a laughable attempt to preempt the Apple Watch based on rumors.

You can bet that one of those companies will be making a Watch operated with a 'digital crown' that copies the Apple Watch right down to the color of the various icons, and they will probably get it out before the Apple Watch even makes the shelves. Of course it will suck and Samsung will continue to lose steam...

"Best people in the world" - yeah right! Staff knowledge at Apple stores has gotten worse this last few years. Give her 2 years and she will be gone! (It wasn't actually her that saved Burberry)

who cares? really, who cares and why do they? i don't get it. it's just verbal diarrhea. find something else to discuss. it's almost as bad as being 'FIRST!' in a thread.

and i'm in no way a fan of samsung's shady practices. but this isn't 2007, they actually make nice stuff now. it's inevitable, considering their 'see what sticks' philosophy.

Agreed. I very much prefer the superior and equally functional watch you designed. What was it called again?

This is a really silly thing to say. I may not be a chef but I know what food tastes and looks appealing.

I still dont understand why I would want this product??? And believe me, Im a die hard Apple fan in general and I buy pretty much everything coming from Cuppertino... But theres nothing on this product I actually want.except that its shiny and got an apple logo. I mean, buying this product, I consider it the same as buying trouble. I have a watch now, its ben on my hand for 5 years without a single charge. Why would I want a watch, were I have to do a everyday charge just so that I can send my heartbeat and do a couple of other things my phone all ready does better.

I feel Apple is hyping this product way out of what its worthy of. As if they are trying to convince us we need a less useful product. I dont even think the design is all that great....yes its nice craftmanship and nice materials, but it looks bulky and almost like last gen apple product before even being released. When apple presentet it, it almost felt as if apple aren't even convinced of what they are selling here, except a Jony Ives quest for a personal product and Cooks wish for an apple workout band.

maybe now - and i agree, i see no use for it personally - but when smart-homes get big (and macs continue to do things only my phone could do before), i'm sure i'll be on the smartwatch bandwagon. i'd love for there to ba a time when i don't have to carry a device in my pocket. wrist, eyes(!), and an iPad pro gen 5 running OS X and adobe software in my carry-all. sounds nice. i like my pockets for other stuff.

LOL. You can't answer a simple question. What product did Samsung spend 4-5 years developing? And funny that the stuff they make now is so great yet their profits are in free fall.

Just looks soo thick reminds me of the first iphones haha.

anyways I wanna know when they will open it up to developers!!!

I am sorry but how is this more specific? Apple said early next year and Angela says Spring (Spring is early to mid)!! If anything they are pushing the launch. If they were going to launch on lets say May or June 2015, I can't see how that can be early!!

Well, the comment from Ahrendts rules out a launch in January or February, so it definitely is a bit more specific.

Not only does it look rather thick, but the actual display seems to have a rather unoptimised footprint on the front? How come Apple need beezles of that size when the device itself is rather bulky to begin with?

That's disappointing. I was hoping for February. "Spring" could be June 20, but hopefully it is more like April.

But they've gone back on their word. April is not early 2015. At the latest, that would be March. Any later is not 'early 2015'.

The Apple Watch is Tim Cooks first project as the CEO, it was started after Steve Jobs died. So there is a lot riding on Tim to "make it work." Realistically he should have scrapped the project because it won't be the rolex-killer people are expecting.

So you don't want to see discussions about copying, but decide to inflame one here...

You sound like Apple watch is only able to tell time which is only 1% of what's the it is intended to be. Don't compare it which your pathetic watch which doesn't do anything but tells time. Does yours track fitness, navi., compatible w Apple Pay, control devices, and tons of other shtts?

To me, this screams that Apple is trying to milk time for all its worth and try to improve the battery life during this time until the supposed "spring" release time frame rolls by. Since TC already mentioned "early 2015" and now supposedly confirmed by Ahrendts, they are just trying to get the battery in a decent range so that early adopters will be somewhat amiable with the device and only time will help Apple improve the battery life before its release.

The best people manage to create a gadget that looks like a children's tamagotchi watch. Oh well.

Yeah like I said a ton of features my phone does better. I don't understand the need of having that on my wrist. Except the workout features of course. But to me this features seemed down focused and nothing more than current wristbands could do with the same features and the main focus was sending smilies and heartbeats and changing watch skins. If the time and workout could last even if the battery of the rest of the phone would go offline then at least it would be a less annoying device.

I'm not a fan of it either. I'll add something... it's too recognizable. Imagine wearing one, it screams Apple fanboy. Admittedly I am one but that's not something I want to advertise.

If your purchasing choices hinge on the thoughts and opinions of others, you're going to have a hard time buying anything....
