Apple and Parisian fashion boutique Colette are preparing a "one day only experience" on September 30, reports French blog Macplus [Google Translate]. Showcased on Colette's website, the event will be held from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM local time at the retailer's gallery on rue Saint-Honoré in Paris.

Information on what will be shown during the one-day event has not been revealed, but hints from the invitation and Colette's own fashion focus suggest the Apple Watch will be the highlight. The pattern of dots on the promotional image appears very similar to the zoomed-out home screen of the Apple Watch, with each dot representing an app icon.

Apple unveiled the Apple Watch earlier this month alongside the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The smartwatch will be available in a variety of configurations, including a high-fashion Edition collection that features an 18-karat gold casing and sapphire crystal display and a Sport collection for fitness enthusiasts. Apple is targeting an early 2015 launch, but the company will reportedly be hard-pressed to make the device available to the public in time for February's Valentine's Day holiday.

Update 8:55 AM: As noted by forum member Rogifan, Apple industrial design team member Mikael Silvanto has posted several photos on his Instagram account yesterday documenting his trip to Paris for Paris Fashion Week. In one photo, a member of the team is shown wearing Apple Watch at a meal, while another photo taken onboard the plane en route to Paris may show Jony Ive and Marc Newson in the background.

Update: Silvanto has made his Instagram photos private.

The invite also says, "Colette and Apple invite you to a one day only experience." I think that might be a better hint than the dots.

Ah so that's why some of Apple's designers were posting photos about attending Paris Fashion Week on Instagram. Looks like Ive and Newson might be there as well judging by the private plane they're flying on. And one of the designers is wearing the stainless steel :apple:Watch.

I'm glad the teaser image alludes to the Watch's confusing-as-hell interface. By far its most compelling feature.

My interest in the Apple Watch is still well below 1%.

I hope they make it work -- I really do -- I just don't see it happening any time soon. Old school mechanical watches FTW!

I can't wait for pre-orders to start. At least by then we'd know the prices. I'm trying to decide whether the Edition is within the realm of possibility.

Maybe I just don't get fashion, but this is the kind of stuff that Colette sells?

I believe Colette was at the unveiling of the Apple Watch on September 9th. The creative director has two pictures on Instgram where she is sporting the 38mm and 42mm Watch models (not the Edition).

"Early" in the year is 1st calendar quarter (Jan-Mar). Assuming Apple sticks to this time table then plenty of time for Grads and Dads (and Moms) season. I'm not sure why Valentines was even mentioned. Nothing more romantic than a smart watch. (Sorry, Apple, it's not a Piaget and won't make women swoon, but rather giggle (best case), therefore not a good Valentines gift for a non-geek girl).

Is that definitely the Apple Watch on his wrist because it looks a lot thinner than the PR photos...perhaps it's just the angle.

Because Apple, by and large, is considered a luxury brand. You can just as well wear a Casio and call people on a StarTAC phone. However, a watch IS a piece of jewelry generally. You're welcome to market your own offering at a lower price with the same functionality though!

Tech geeks are going to HATE that Apple understands a watch does NOT have to be just a toy for tech geeks to show each other. Even with a computer inside, it can still be a watch, in the watch market--and that means approaching it very differently from the geek toy market. Tech geeks will NOT grasp that approach. They care about specs, and Apple has given us none. They do NOT care about fashion marketing, which Apple realizes is vital. Why else sell high-end versions where most of the cost is the gold alone? They won't sell in volume. But without them, they won't be taken seriously by a market that geeks think should be ignored, but Apple knows cannot be--when it comes to something you wear. Mission accomplished: the fashion and watch worlds ARE taking the Apple Watch seriously, because Apple has chosen to take them seriously. I can't stand the fashion world--but I can see that it's a "necessary evil" here. Few tech companies would see that.

The photos DO look thicker, but when I saw the "hands on" pics and videos after the keynote, it actually didn't look bulky on any of the reporters' wrists.
